  • Great vid, loved it. :)

  • admirably done

  • Great little performance. Not what I expected since I have a video out with a Newfoundland uglystick....a percussion instrument. But your runs are great! Keep up the good work. If you ever come to visit, we'llhave to do a you tube tigether, ok?

    Cheers~~Mike (mike underscore madigan at y a h o o dot c o m

  • Oh, yeah, that's how to build an instrument.

I just finished making an instrument with two courses of double strings and friction peg tuners. Lots of fun to tune, aren't they?

  • Just don't touch my amp.

  • ha ha...i've got my leatherman ready to tweak your volume knob and stuff ha ha ha....maybe you can just let me borrow an amp with lots of knobs on it.....

  • Awesome, that was cool

  • Hi,

    thanks so much! :)

  • Cool as,,, put a pick up in that thing an you got yourself one mean dirty sounding piece of wood man,,,,

  • Thanks D,

gonna make another one with a nicer neck and bigger body and do just that...so i can go electric :)

  • Yeah... definitely McGyver. Awesome!

  • thanks Jim!!!

  • Nothing ugly about that!! Have you checked out jimiller5? I think you'd like!!

  • I'll have to chech im' out....thanks :)

  • COOL is the word! Love it!

  • thank you so much John :)

  • i love how you just slap stuff together and get music out it. crazy.

  • "Slap stuff together" is the appropriate term ha ha...

i'm actually gonna try to be a little more concise in the future :)

    thanks John :)

  • amazing the things you come up with. awesome stuff Todd!

  • thanks so much Russ :)

  • Less strings, less harmonies, more heart. The essential is here.

  • right on...thanks Diez!

  • I imagine the difference between an instrument envisioned and the one created remains a gulf, whether one has an understocked garage or a money-is-no-object shop. You've created a work of art and magic there, Todd, and it sounds perfect to me. A mastadon tusk nut and maboongie wood neck would only take away from it.

  • right on Bruce....thanks :)

  • Cool stuff. You make me wish I had more tools beyond a few screw drivers, a hammer and a drill

  • add a sanding block or palm sander (mouse)

and manual or electric jigsaw.....oh and some wood glue and you're there!!!! :)

    thanks Gregory,

    todd

  • Amazing! Love this stuff! I dig Ali Farka Toure and Ry Cooders Lp together. I also am a fan of V.M. Bhatt and Ry's collab. Come to think of it, I dig all of Ry's stuff!

  • Mjs,

    he's great.....for sure :)

  • Terrific.

  • thanks bro,

    todd

  • thanks John :)

  • didn't recognize ya without yer hat! nice job todd!

  • yeah, i go hatless for a vid and a friend of mine remarks how 'grey' my hair is getting!

    hmmmmffff!!!

    thanks Jeff :)

  • Don't hit me with that. Once is enough. Awesome sound, T!

  • ha ha thanks Alan! :) I'll probably 'scrap it' to build something else, but i like the string configuration for sure....

  • cool ! one gosh dam fun stick :)

  • ha ha thanks Caroline :)

  • If you get a chance, have a listen to the collaboration between Ry Cooder and V.M Bhatt on a CD called Meeting by the river.

V.M. Bhatt's plays traditional classical music from northern India which is ethereal and haunting

He plays the Mohan vina an expanded slide-guitar-like instrument of own invention.

The marriage between delta blues and Indian raga is exquisite

  • I'll try and check it out :)

  • If the river was whisky and I was a diving duck.

I'd dive down to the bottom and i'd never come up

  • Rye Whisky Rye Whiskey Rye Whiskey I cryyyyyyy !!!!

  • sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet

  • cheers Krabbers :)

  • Todd - You gotta find a friend with a wooden leg . You see where I'm going with this?

Now that would be a challenge!

  • Stu,

i'm gonna thank everybody later, but i gotta say, 'ha ha ha ha!' with gusto!

i need to do that......wrestle him down and steal his prosthetics.....all in good fun ;)

  • awesome todd, reminds me of the old slave banjos keep em comin bro

  • thanks Noah!

  • I"ve heard some of Ry Cooder's collaborations, but I don't know Ali Farka Toure. Thanks for the tip. And Todd, you just amaze me!

  • Don,

thanks so much....if you like music from different places, you may really like Ali Farka Toure....very strong voice and unique guitar playing :)

    todd

  • thanks Stephen :)

  • Too cool! I can't even begin to imagine all the instruments you could make with the junk you'd find in my house.

  • ha ha thanks Deach :)

  • twangy slidey goodness!

    awesome todd!

    : )

    p.

  • That is cool. I have an old metal cookie tin I have been saving to try to make some sort of instrument. I think I could pull something like this off with my limited amount of tools and even more limited amount of patience.

    impatiently yours,

    todd
