@MerryJ3000 well, you can add as much as you want, heck.... some people sprout there seeds in 100% perlite because it is sanitized. but, they need proper nutrients to sustain growth.
I need to make a batch :) and putting it in a rubbermaid container looks so much better than just haveing the bags sit around :) I don't know why I never thought of that
@DrowSkinned it really is very simple, and one of the better mixes for indoor growing, i havent used it much outdoors because i have pure compost, but i would imagine it would be fantastic for that too. and the rubbermaid container is just simple, a bit heavy, but simple. and it is efficiant too. you just have to make sure that wherever you prepare it, is in the general facinity for where you will be doing your gardening. lol, cause it doesn't do much for moving.
Perlite and vermiculite are basically mineral popcorn. They're formed by superheating certain natural minerals. Just thought I'd mention that for absolutely no reason at all. Don't worry about Using the Kohl's ad for lining. It's probably the best use for that store's ad. They should pay you a few bucks for the air time you gave them. :)
@Praxxus55712 hahaha, except for the fact that kohl's might be kinda offended, you know, take it as kind of an insinuation. like, they are a dirty company, they are a dying company because they are getting burried, or even that their company is as low as dirt among the clothing retailers. (all are true, but don't tell them i said that!)
I planted radish seeds in a container..They all sprouted, I thinned them out looked really good, The next day they look like they needed water. So gave them a little drink...Afternoon they look really good...That night all slumped over and never came back...LOL did something wrong.
Thank you for answering my questions.. Much more clear now. So will still try to grow things...They all seem to die...Me and seeds do not get along..Will keep watching tho.
@tigereyes8961 well thank you! perlite is not styrophome... it looks alot alike and shares some of the same properties, but styrophome is bas for your soil and is a polymer, perlite is a natural occuring rock that is mined specificly for the use in soil.
@tigereyes8961 colored ink.... black and white is still ink, but alot less of it will be leached into the soil. it is potentially not the best for the soil, but only if it is on top and leaches down, i have it on the bottom to strictly absorb moisture.
Excellent, reminds me of making hot cocoa mix : ) ~Oh, just read a lot about moss, it turns out the material absorbs water like crazy, which is their way of surviving when it's dry.
@Helioforge its great stuff if your soil is sandy, also, do not add it if your soil is clayey. this is because the water retention will be increased even more. the best thing to do is simply add compost and sand.
Finally! Another video! By the way, do you have any gardening books that you reccomend? In one of your earlier videos you mentioned that you have a book called "the garden book" but you didn't tell the author. Can you tell me a couple gardening books that you reccomend?
Like your idea of the 20 gal tub. I have some old 30 gal trash cans. I think I might use them for this. Thanks for the idea.

@MerryJ3000 Perlite and Vermiculite are both sterile soil amendments made by heat expansion of the base material.
The base material of Perlite is powdered obsidian [!], and the base material of Vermiculite is Mica, which is also a [sorta] glass.
Both of them hold a LOT of moisture, after the heat expansion, anyway.

@MIgardener I will add that newspaper companines use non-toxic soy based inks with the exception of the color ads (shiny paper).
