The Romanovs rule in Russia has been a history of disgrace and stupidity. By the year 1917 Nikolashka Krovaviy got so confused and fucked up with everything that there was not a single sole in Russia who would fight for him. For all the sins of his family Nikolashka simply had to pay through the nose. There was no other way. He had been there doin no good for far too long, just like Kaddafi now. The Romanovs deserved to be hanged, But the bolsheviks had mercy on them ... got them shot
Indeed, OH MY GOD!!!!!!!! I also have been looking for this movie for years. Untill today i havent been able to find a torrent. So i'm very glad you have put this online.
Thank you very much Im Ricardo from Brazil I watch Peter the Great twice and I have it on tapes vhs in Portuguese I copied it to dvd but the quality wans't very good Now I have the oportunity to have this master piece with better quality Thanks Obrigado!!!
hi my friend came back to ask you do you or anyone know where can i get this movie on DVD! i would love to add this to my dvd collection for my history classes.
@hanno21664 As far as I know it has not been released on DVD yet. There are some DVD copies on sale on the Internet but they are just VHS converted to DVD. So I guess you will have to wait like the rest of us. :(
OK who are you? I demand to know you my friend have my respect this is a great miniseries and i love this part of russian history so much! thank you, Maximilian Schell! there is no other Peter the Great than him. in my opinion.
YES now i have something to show my history classes when i talk about this part of the history.
This is the best movie about the life of Czar Peter that was ever done in the west. The Kremlin was so pleased with the story line for this mini-series, the producer was given almost limitless access to locations in a Soviet Union at the height of the cold war. Thank you so much for making a digital copy of this. If you know of any way i can find a copy of this on DVD, please let me know.
@purplelunacy Your are welcome. So I guess that makes Tzar Peter your great great great (and so on) cousine. cool!! I watched this series on TV back in '89 and just fell in love with it. Then I bought it on VHS but those tapes are close to dead now. Luckily I was able to record it from TV 2 years ago.
@purplelunacy Well at least Lenin failed to kill off the entire royal family. Your family maybe the last living link to the history of the Tzars. Almost makes you proud don't it?
Romanov's are still around. The main ones are descendants of Alexander III, so much more direct than just relative of Peter the Great's mother. The only ones that were killed were Nicholas II's immediate family and a few of his cousins. The rest of the Romanovs, for the most part, escaped. They weren't directly in line for the throne, but they're what's left now.
They would have wanted to kill them all, but most of the Romanovs were smart enough to see this mess coming and had already fled by the time the Tsar was taken to Yekaterinburg. Nicholas II was incredibly incompetent and unfit for rule, he didn't listen to his advisors, didn't modernize his army or even fund them properly, and refused to see the writing on the wall until it was too late. His children had no role in politics, they didn't deserve to die for his mistakes.
@purplelunacy You are so lucky... You don't know how lucky you are! Peter the Great happens to be one of the best Tsars in Russian history in my mind. I admire him because of what he made Russia into. He is so fascinating. Cool! thanks so much for sharing this!

@susumu07 ahhh good, I had thought that the Soviets had killed all members of the Romanov bloodline, to prevent any possible retaking of the country.
I always liked the Russian Imperial Family
