Great arrangement - can count on Jars for something more creative - Song not just good for a funeral- but to remind us that this world is just a step, the next life is much better - kinda like they should rent caskets - dont need them for long -
My friend did play this at his 23 year old's funeral yesterday. All several hundred attendees were moved by this selection Along with Just breath by Pearl Jam.
Apparently the song was dedicated to singer/songwriter Mark Heard, who died of a heart attack in 1992 at the age of 41. He was a personal friend of Randy Stonehill, Phil Keaggy, Larry Norman and Bruce Cockburn, as well as other musicians in bands as diverse as REM and Daniel Amos. Great song. I also like Emmylou Harris' version from Wrecking Ball.
Sun and moon will be replaced with the light of Jesus' Face. Gold and silver blind the eye. Temporary riches lie. Come and eat from Heaven's store. Come and drink, and thirst no more.
luciengraywolf Yes. Went to Calvary Chapel for many years in Gulf Breeze and Pensacola, FL and to conferences in Merrit Island and saw her lead worship many times.

I just went to a Church Camp, and the director who's like 20, told us about how his dad suddenly died and he was mad at god. And then he sang this song. and forgave god and everything.
and i balled my eyes out in front of everyone, and had to find it.
because my aunt just died a couple weeks ago, and i never really accepted it, until now.
I'm not taking this for my funeral. I'm going to learn how to play it at everyone else's funeral... no matter who they are or what their wishes were! This'll be fun!
I prefer JOC's version of this song, as i think Dan's voice is amazing. I listened to Julie's as i saw that AzureMonk preferred that version, but i still think JOC's is better.
This song was written by Julie Miller for the late Mark Heard, who, in my opinion, was the greatest Christian songwriter of all time. This rendition is good but I prefer Julie & Buddy Miller's version.
Wededicate this song in loving memory of my brother Jeff for my brother in law's version. He loves Jays of Clay.Thank you Jesus for giving us the hope and love.We are free in your name.
I found this to play for my wife because we were talking about what songs we would want played at our funeral. This has been my #1 choice from the first time that I heard it on the radio!
Thank you 4 your video. I was looking for it=)We need more brothers and sisters to share the word our Father God in the name of his son and our saviour Jesus Christ.
I know grandpa bud can finally rest. I will definitely miss him.

If I have time to, I'm going to sing this song AS I die, surrounded by family and/or friends (or at least the one above).
This will be played at my funeral along with Dead Man and Even Angels Cry.

I think it is because it tells us that we will be in our father's arms once we die, and telling people not to cry for us
