  • "Drop the gun or we will shoot to STOP you?" I guess in PC Britain, the word KILL has been banned.

  • @ringo1029384756 yeah beacuse most the time they just intend to shoot you in the leg so its painfull enough that you drop the weapon but not deadly but in a situatoin where its a school the police will more than likely kill you if you dont listen to them

  • "Guns and knives take lives" - Yes of course! There have been numerous occassions which I've seen guns and knives flying through mid-air killing individuals at will, people themselves are obviously nothing to do with it.

    WHAT A STUPID VIDEO TITLE

  • i agree with the messege but him at the end is a waste of space! :')

  • Knives don't kill people. Guns don't kill people. People kill people. Always have, always will.

  • Don't carry a knife

Carry a gun and be safe.

Armed societies are the safest societies.

Look at mandatory gun ownership in Kennesaw, Georgia and Switzerland.

  • DAS SAD!

  • Hey, I just found out chains caused slavery.

  • i thought people takes peoples lives oh well my mistake i better throw out all my kitchen knifes before the knifes go out on a rampage all on theyre own

  • Guns don't kill people. People kill people.

  • We're like an old couple xD lol you have a point what if they fail to negociate?

Well I'd say if you handed over ur belongings u'l get out ok as happens in the cases I know of.

But what if? Then you its a 50/50 situation, use ur energy to run or stand..adrenaline the fight or flight hormone..its really ambiguous..in the end its pointless arguing about whether its better to be armed and fight or hand over your stuff and hope 4 the best...cause in the end we want it this kind of thing to stop :)

  • They have entered your house, they're likely to have a gun,not likely to be negociable eiter and they threaten everyone.

  • its more humane and then you can both get away alive..

However I think that someone who breaks into your house and threatens everyone is a much more serious threat reason being cause in the street its normally just you. At home its everybody, but again lethal force shouldn't be used unless absolutely necessary. In addition to that they have entered your home so I think then you have the right to use it of course it should be a last resort. Of course its not right but its maybe your only choice

  • When defending yourself, how "humane" something is shouldn't even factor in to choosing a weapon. Also, the more "humane" a weapon is, the less effective it is. Stun guns tend to piss attackers off. The only thing that matters is keeping yourself and/ or loved ones alive and free of harm.

  • Have you looked into the gun-control section of the justfacts website yet?

  • I see you mentioned Bowling for Columbine in your PM. I've seen it. And the director of that movie had an obvious anti-gun bias already. Not to mention his facts/ statistics in the movie were mostly wrong, and have been widely discredited by people on both the right and the left (mostly on the right, though). I did like the part where he walked out of the bank with the rifle, though. That was funny as hell! XD

  • lol and the people who discredited his facts were so credible....who could they be? The NRA? The "elected" Bush admin ^^ ? Sorry thats me getting carried away I just hate the fact the world's superpower is run by a fool.

Of course some things are distorted 4 filming purposes but 2 engage an audience more profoundly...eg the Lockheed Martin factory no longer produced missiles at that stage,Moore couldn't of just walked into the bank and bought the gun cause they'd have a background check first..

  • PM sent.

  • The site is interesting btw and although I have not gone over in depth I hold no critiques so far ;)

  • start from the "seed" of the problem and educate people....its why both of us are here afterall and acting civil and complaining about the muggings ect ;)

  • hmm...you have a point about smugglers...but if you don't resist then you won't get shot or stabbed 99% of the time....just act calm its the best you can really do...reacting is more likely to go wrong...

  • 99%? Did you just make up that stat, or did you get it from somewhere? Making up stats is generally considered bad form, as its dishonest. Something tells me you don't have much experience dealing with irrational violent people. *Rolls eyes*

  • If you want some truth to go with your extemist position, go to justfacts. com (no space between the . and the c), and go to the gun control section. Of particular interest to you would probably be the "crime and self defense section," and the "right to carry laws section." Did you know that firearms were used more often for self-defense than for violent crimes in '97? The same holds true today if you look at the FBI site.

  • I'm sure you'll come up with some excuse as to why that site isn't "credible," tho.

  • Oh comments enabled again....extremist now that's a bit harsh and being prejudice...what would you call yourself then?(not to make this personal...just to make a point)...Thing is if you used a firearm in self defense you mightve killed them which maybe is what some people think they deserve but how can you deny someone the right to live? Its not right although they might threaten your life...its being selfish and you in turn from a certain point of view if you exert force. I think you should

  • I call it how I see it. Anyone who doesn't believe that I have the right to protect my life and the lives of innocent people IS an extremist, in my book. And you don't shoot to kill, you shoot to stop. If they happen to die from their wounds, its too bad. THEY made the choice to put my life in danger, I didn't ask for it. If shooting them is the only way to preserve MY life or the life of a loved one, its the right thing to do.

  • Are you really trying to tell me that the "right" thing to do would be to LET them kill me or my family? That's twisted.

  • That their life as a violent criminal and danger to society is MORE valuable than my life as a peaceful and law-abiding citizen. His life may be equally valuable (debatable in itself), but it certainly isn't MORE valuable.

  • Oh, and I would define myself as a practical realist.

  • No, did i actually write that? Don't think so, the problem is that in that moment and time where someone comes up to you (typical scenario-thank you Hollywood) in an alley way and threatens to kill you unless you hand over your belongings, the majority of people would be in shock, scared and angry and without intending to would use a weapon to kill. If someone breaks into your house and threatens you I think then its your right to react but in the street things can be handled differently

  • An attack is an attack whether it happens in the home or the street. I'd like to hear why you think its different, though, for the sake of conversation. If someone puts my life or the life of someone I care about in danger (I know, that phrase is getting old, sorry), and the only way for us to live is to negate the threat, the criminal just forfeighted his right to live. I certainly would try talking my way out first, but I'm definatly prepared to use violence if absolutely necessary.

  • And I don't get my scenarios from Hollywood. I get them from reading about real life attacks, and by using my own imagination.

  • I do agree that you can talk your way out of most situations, but what is your plan if that fails, or they just won't listen to reason? I once heard a guy I know that is in law enforcement say this about self defense: "If you fight, you may be killed, but if you run, you will be killed." I know that its not true 100% of the time, but my limited experience seems to back up that statement.

  • If you want a realistic outlook on self defense, I suggest taking a class or three by a reputable instructor. Look up the name "Mercop," for a good idea of what I'm talking about.

  • No no no lol I'm talking about what I mentioned could happen in an alleyway....anyhow I think the scenario is different because someone who tries to mug you in a street can quite easily pass by if you listen to their demands(you can get them back later thanks to CCTV and your belongings)....I'm talking about being passive and not reacting...you do that and they'll just go away...I don't think you should use lethal force though if forced too...a firearm is excessive...stun gun, pepper spray ect...

  • Stun guns have been proven to be completely inefective for stopping an attack (I've shocked myself with them for fun before. Its not that bad). Pepper spray has been proven to be iffy, at best. (It litterally makes some people fight harder.) So are you saying that if you take a passive approach to self defense, someone will go away 100% of the time? That sounds foolish. Anyone with any real experience dealing with violent crims knows better than that, me included.

  • I understand that you're against using the gun for self-defense, and that's fine- as long as you don't try and push that kind of thing on other people, as that kind of "my life isn't valuable enough to justify lethal self defense" gets good people killed.

  • No offense intened, but you don't sound as if you have any experience on the "street," as they say. If you did, I'm sure you're outlook would change drastically. If nothing else, it would actually be realistic. None of this, "Just roll over and hope they go away" crap. Violent criminals don't think that way. In my experience, a passive approach emboldens them. An assertive/ aggresive approach backed up with the threat of violence, makes them go away.

  • I think you should just go with the flow and not initiate in violence...you could end up hurt just as badly or charged with manslaughter...not great...its a lose lose situation...sad but true...install more CCTV,increase Police presence/patrols and you limit the chance of something bad happening and added to thatyou can catch them more easily....

  • I think you need a wake up call lol xD

Take a trip across the Atlantic and we end up in the USA where gun crime is abundant cause everyone can possess one. Its their right as a civilian. Now statistics show that the CDC estimates that in 2000 there were 52,447 deliberate and 23,237 accidental non-fatal gunshot injuries and around 16,000 suicides involving firearms.

Furthermore 4 in 100,000 people die in the US cause of guns.

  • Ok fine not much but compared to other developed countries with gun control eg: France it totals to 0.21 in 100,000(as of 2001). For every death around 500 people are affected in some way maybe more depending on the person. At any rate guns have no use in the civilian world. They cause more problems than they solve. You'd be done for manslaughter if you killed someone in defence so 15 years in the "slam" not fun hey? How about doing something sensible like backing off n incapacitating someone;)

  • Gun crime elsewhere in the world eg Jamaica or South Africa is far worse btw. I don't have any exact figures to post but if you look hard enough you'll find them.

You're a coward for arming yourself in the first place and should have nothing to fear if you stay safe and don't hang around with the wrong people.

  • Listen,I know someone who carried a knife just simply for his own protection but in the end when he ended up killing an old man.

Story goes that he was after money and he usually pick pocketed people to fund his addiction. However one day his mates jumped an old fogey/man and he wasn't alright with it so he went over and tried to pull them off him. However the man was confused by the whole event and attacked this guy who panicked and ended up dead. Thus the guy who I know is now in prison....

  • I fail to see how arming oneself is "cowardly," my good man, but I suppose you are entitled to your own opinion, even if it is out of touch with reality.

  • I say you are out of touch with reality because many people are targeted by criminals for stuff or for fun, not because they "hung with the wrong people." You do know that bad things happen to good people right? Some of those bad things happen to be criminal attacks (muggings, hate crimes, revenge for some percieved slight, road rage, etc.). Need I go on? You don't have to hang with the wrong crowd to be a victim of crime. Reading the papers should tell you this. For goodness sake, think man. XD

  • Maybe where you're from, self defense is outlawed (pretty sad when its a crime to defend oneself, even if using violence is the only way to keep yourself or a loved one alive), but over here in the states, if your life is in danger, you are allowed to "fight back," as they say. You CAN'T shoot someone for stealing something, but if your life or someone else's is in danger, we DO recognize that basic human right.

  • I have the first-hand experience to know that the saying "violence is rarely the answer, but when it is, its the only answer," rings very true. For me, and most people with a shred of commen sense and decency, violence is a last resort when talking or running our way out of a situation don't work. Its kind of hard to run from someone intent on doing you harm when you have a loved one with casted broken ankle with you. Since they can't outrun a mugger with a knife, and I'm sure as hell not...

  • ... leaving them behind, and the police probably aren't anywhere around, the only option left is incapaciting the assailant. This scenario happens more often than you may think.

  • Your little story about the guy who carried a knife for protection isn't relavant to this conversation. He regularly engaged in criminal behavior, and the majority of people who carry a knife do not. Knife or not, he was either going to end up in prison or dead sooner or later. The majority of people who carry a knife, carry it for everyday use (cutting string, peeling oranges, cutting blister packs open, trimming threads, opening packages/ boxes, need I go on?).

  • To us, we don't even consider the knives we carry as weapons. Could they be used as weapons? Yes. But so can pretty much anything. Use your imagination, and literally almost ANYTHING becomes a weapon that is at least as effective, if not more effective than a knife.

  • Well, that pretty much sums up my argument (sorry for the many posts, but you needed a lot of correcting.) MasterJCT, you said that I needed a "wake up call," but I say that YOU are the one that so desperatly needs a wake up call. Here's to hoping that these many posts of mine helped to wake you up. Remember, "Ignorance can be rectified with education, but stupidity can't be cured."

  • What you're leaving out, is the fact that the vast majority of those deliberate shootings are gang member-on gang member. Also, you forget to take into account the number of lives saved as a result of legal guns in citizens hands. Example: Every state that implemented shall-issue CCW permit programs had their violent crime, murder, and burglary rates decrease drastically within a year of implemention the programs. Montana's murder rate decreased by a whopping 40%!

  • What you have said is completely irrelevant because this whole video is refering to the UK.....not the USA....different laws here mate ;)

  • So what you're saying is that the principal of "more guns in the hands of law abiding citiizens saves innocent lives" applies to the US, but not the UK? How is that, may I ask?

  • Well erm in the UK you're not allowed to possess a gun in public places and the laws are very strict....and everyone can see how messed up gun control in the US is...I mean its funny I'd say we hear a lot of stories along the lines of Columbine and Virginia tech over here...hmm...yes...weapons very good...lol...How about we just make it illegal to possess any weapon thatway not as many problems...sure a stick or a bottle becomes a weapon but theyre certainly not as easy to hide or use as a knife

  • At first glance, it may seem that banning weapons would decrease violence, but the facts and statics show otherwise, at least here in the states. (I can't speak for the UK, as I don't follow crime there, but I certainly here about a ton of unprovoked assaults and muggings when I read your papers.) The thing is, that only law abiding people follow weapons laws in the first place. Violent criminals don't. If they don't care about breaking a law that says "no mugging people," what makes you...

  • Well allowing people to carry them would also allow the undesirables to carry them too(which would probably mean an increase) and then supposedly the rates would stay the same.

Taking this to a philosophical point of view there can never be only "good" or only "evil" there's always a balance...some people would call it Karma....

I think if you banned weapons you'd only have the real hardcore criminals left...so a select few thing is someone who is hyped on adrenaline for starters(a criminal)

  • isn't going to think twice about killing someone or severely hurting them if they are threatened....

  • ... what makes you think a weapons law is gonna stop them from carrying weapons. And if you think banning a weapon makes it any harder to get, you've either been suckered by the government or the media. In Washington DC, which has the most totalitarian gun laws in the states, owning a handgun is outlawed. Yet, criminals get illegal handguns in abundance from dealers, who get them from smugglers (<--simplified version), AND DC is one of the top 5 most dangerous and violent cities in the states.

  • Statistically speaking, the cities and states which have the highest rates of legal gun ownership are the states where you are least likely to be shot, mugged, assualted, or have your house broken into (according to the FBI. Look it up if you think I'm joking). In contrast, the states and cities here which have the most totalitarian gun laws (which means lower rates of legal gun ownership), are the ones where you are most likely to be assaulted, shot, mugged, have your house broken into, etc.

  • I'm speaking in generalities of course, and I'm sure there's an exception to the rule SOMEWHERE, but I haven't found it yet. I have an abundance of facts and statistics to back up my claims. What do you have?

  • I was gonna ask this earlier, but youtube wouldn't work for me, but now its back up:

Ellie, why do you want me to "put down" and "throw away" my knives and guns? Especially when its a proven fact that more guns in the hands of law abiding citizens save innocent lives, and knives are so useful in everyday life.

  • How does my carrying a knife for everyday tasks hurt "so many people?"

  • Stop carrying knives and guns. NOW is YOUR chance to put them down. Throw them away. Stop it.

  • aww tht my baby tht died well he neva reali he jsut playin tht part love u steffie bear u guys promise me u wouldnt carry a knife plz it hurts os many ppl

    peace owt!!

  • interesting film, what's that song you used in the second half?

  • A wiser man than myself once told me that the central premise of gun control is that it is morally superior in some way to find a man in an alley, beaten to death for his wallet, than to find a man in an alley explaining to police how a mugger suffered a fatal gunshot wound. Not that this happens, not that this circumstance is common, or the reason to carry a firearm, but that purely in abstract, one is morally superior to the other

  • I'm not going to delve into the gun aspect, but rather the knife aspect(I'm pro-gun/ 2nd Amendment, btw). Knives are one of mankind's oldest and most useful tools, and banning their carry would be a travesty. I, and many others carry and use knives on a daily basis for things like cutting boxes open, cutting fruit up for lunch, opening plastic clam-packs (have you ever tried getting in one without a knife; and no, I'm not going to carry scissors around with me everyday)...

  • (continued)..., trimming loose threads, sharpening pencils when there is no pencil sharpener, cutting steak at restaraunts when the knives they give you are dull, and various other tasks that I haven't thought of. Imagine that; on my belt, I have a: box cutter, kitchen knife, scissors substitute, pencil sharpener, thread clipper, nail cleaner/ trimmer, and steak knife, all in one handy little tool(the knife).

  • Even if knife carry is completely banned, muggers are just going to carry some kitchen knife they bought at the grocery store, or some steak knife they stole out of someone's house anyway, seeing as how they are criminals in the first place, and don't care about the law. The majority of people who carry knives, carry them for utilitarian purposes, and not as weapons (you may disagree with me if the only people you ask about it are a bunch of gangsters, who are by definition, violent criminals.)

  • In closing, the only thing banning knife carry will do is inconvience people who carry them for completely utilitarian, non-violent purposes. Criminals will not obey the new "knife-carry ban," as they are lawbreakers in the first place. A "knife-carry ban" is nothing but a feel-good idea, and will not help make the streets any safer. -Adam-

  • Guns cause crime, like Hustler causes me Carpel Tunnel. (or however it's spelled.)

  • This video is almost comedic. Especially at the start when those kids are driving and swinging around guns and knives, and that kid on the playground with the gun. HA! This video really shows the humour of guns and violence.

  • They came in and showed this in my assembly

  • I think it's an attempt at addressing a serious problem this country has but at the end of the day it's just another unrealistic video with amateurs. No real impact.

  • that type og helicopter flys over our house all the time.. fuking dose my hed. 3-4 clock at night its hovering just above our house just cause the coppers are two lazy to get in there cars

This is scary cause it actually works. If u break the chain u will have problems with relations p.s for the next five years

  • "Danny Leroy Regan" (gravestone at the end) was a drug dealer who got what he deserved.

  • no1 shud have the right 2 decide who lives or dies so that aint right

  • Unfortunately, sometimes it's them or you. Self defence is the only justifiable use of guns and we're not even allowed to do that anymore. It shows who's side the government is on.

  • Cirus69

If a person must kill a burgler, it is in order to protect ones life or that of family/friends. Not to punish not to discourage criminal behavior but to save lives from a criminal.

  • wow makes you really think

  • Yes. I have to say that part with Mr. Lynn was funny. I'm also a Student at Firth Park Community Arts College. But I do have to say the part at the end with Louise F. did look a bit unproffesional. He was waving it around very calmly and slowly. I think someone who was actually in that place would be waving it around very fast and jolting all over the place. :P But well done all of you. Great Video. And Zeeshan. I'm no 'Frenchy'. :P

  • this is a good video and a good responce to a problem which needs adressing

  • wasnt that dean lacey waving the gun about

  • The BB Gun? That was Reace Oxley. The real Gun at the end? Louise Frater. :P

  • I go to the school its set in, the teacher who shouts out of the door at the kid is Mr lynn, thats the best bit lol
