In my state in the past two months, there have been 2 gay teens that have killed themselves because of bullying. Of course in a Southern state, the legislature is supporting the rights of the bullies, stating it's their 1st amendment right. Seeing this, I've have recently decided to change my studies to go into social work to help gay teens. As an openly gay young man who survived growing up in a small southern town, you've inspired me even more to do what I can to help these kids.

I came out when I was young. For some reason it was just not important to me that certain people hated. I just expected it. The world wants you to conform - do what you're told - be like everyone else. Conformity is forced on us through religion, government and (unfortunately) schools.

If you're straight, nobody would go into your life trying to find out how you're having sex and what you're interested in. If you're gay, your sexuality all of a sudden becomes everybody's business and everybody feels the need to tell you how you should behave in order to conform to their own norms and beliefs. If the gays are being criticized, Ostracized etc. Why not just put them in an all GAY school? this might be considered segregating gays from others, but wouldn't that fix the problem? It sure as hell fixes the criticism in public schools. I'm not sure about job's, but many of the suicides regarding gays, are mostly younger teen's.

If the gays are being criticized, Ostracized etc. Why not just put them in an all GAY school? this might be considered segregating gays from others, but wouldn't that fix the problem? It sure as hell fixes the criticism in public schools. I'm not sure about job's, but many of the suicides regarding gays, are mostly younger teen's.

@MrSuperBloodstrain Not a good solution, because young straight people would have even less experience of gay people: even less experience of how they're normal humans too, who aren't sex maniacs, less experience of how untrue some stereotypes are. Exactly the other way around, they would feel the stereotypes must be justified, as gays even have to be alienated into other schools. And then because of that problemns at working places, etc. would be harsher.

Homosexuality is no more a choice than heterosexuality. If you don't think so, then exactly when did you choose to be heterosexual? I choose to be straight, did everything a church told me to to become straight, got an exorcism to become straight, and almost committed suicide when none of their BS worked. There are many people who went to a church instead of someone not so ignorant and many of them now are dead by suicide or traumatized and atheists as a result of the church.

@Dttlbp95 studies have been done to prove it is in fact a genetic mutation. much like blue eyes were before the mutation became wide-spread enough to not be considered a mutation anymore. and frankly speaking, going with the themes of this video, who would actually choose to be homosexual? people aren't exactly nice about it.

@tecc don't discredit the magazines, but the geneticists talked about, if you must discredit somebody. all magazine articles work for are proving it is a largely talked about issue. like i said, it is literally everywhere. if you aren't in the field, it is also a good place to begin research and learn who is working on what and there are often links and whatnot to studies and articles by the scientists directly on the website. a good starting point. but this is a stupid debate. no point.

No true Christian, even believing homosexuality to be a sin, would have a hateful heart towards gays or bisexuals. But times are changing. When I was in high school years ago (I'm in my thirties), I was teased, ridiculed and ostracized with little mercy because kids *thought* I was a lesbian (I'm not). But only a couple of years ago, I saw a kid at my high school who seemed to be quite openly gay. The thing is, high school only lasts four years. Then you meet a whole world of good possibilities.

I do disagree with you on one thing though: calling sexual orientation a 'preference' (3:50). Preference is for potato chips, not for things that are part of the way people are hardwired, like left-hand vs. right-hand. You do say that people can't change, at 9:30. It's just important to be consistent that people are who they are on sexuality, no choice or blame or guilt involved in it.
