@baskorvv You need an actual piano keyboard. You don't have to get a full synthesizer, the only thing that you need to use midi is a keyboard. I suggest full 88 keys nonetheless, though.

I got ver 2.2 and it come with the drum machine and for (34imperium) you can but you must have the usb dongle to use the program lol and its not cheap down side is it has no cd burning op with in the program what a crap SB and no DD converter must buy other SB stuf to get it, one good thing is that its all up to you how you use it but 24 bit SoundCard a must with 16Bit with some recording guru stuf one cant tell the deferance lol the blond mut :)

theres no difference between Fruity loops and Cubase... What a wierd comment. You can do what ever you can do in friuty loops in Cubase. They are just different DAW's. Fruity loops just lays it all out for you so you can have your hand held a little easier. But what you can achieve in FL you can achive in Cubase also.

You can draw a new 'box' in the midi track. Then open Key Editor (under MIDI) (,or set the Key Editor to open automatically when you doubble click the box). You'll see how you can insert notes very easilly with the mouse from there.

go to your sound card preferences and change it for low buffer size on your devices so you can perform with the vst faster and have slow latency

yes you have to perform a mixdown, this is done by going onto file then export then audio mixdown then probably best to choose 16 bit and save it to where u want it, you will then have a normal audio file

The delay in pressing a key on your synthesizer is the latency-which you can adjust by going to 'file' and 'audio setup' and then sliding the 'latency' slider to the left until you get it set to a time that you are comfortable with.

Go to Devices-->Device setup.. choose the right audio driver in VST audiobay... Then choose it (right below VST audiobay) and press control panel. You may find something there called latency buffer... You can minimize the latency there but be careful not to minimize it too much or else it'll hurt the performance. Might get clicks and stuff you don't want. Hope that helps.

Of course, Cubase 4 is the successor with more features, but most of them are simply used by more experienced people. It's also pretty new, so the are for sure some bugs in the system thet SX3 don't have. And it's more expensive. So I'll say go for a full SX3 instead of just a 4 Studio.

cubase really is the software to have if u dont use hardware... i would say get fruity loops for that but any other software i used i needed some type of hardware.. i juz downgraded from cubase 4.1 to this sx 3.1 because of the actual input of recording software synthesizers.. but if u get m-audio GET PRO-TOOLS!!!!!!!!!

use a virtual midi keyboard. try looking for bome's mouse keyboard, you can also use a joystick or gamepad for pitch bending etc.. for those of us trying their BEST without a budget! lol ;)
