I'm making one of these for my dad for Christmas because he wants a rug made out of jeans and I had been collecting jeans to make quilts, but they tend to be too heavy, so I started making one of these rugs. Then I decided to see if there were and videos so I could see how other people were doing it. I think I will stick with my way of doing it, though.
I LOVE THIS! I'm visually impaired, and not at all crafty, but I totally think I can do this. Have always wanted to, but thought I needed a loom or something. THANK YOU for uploading and explaining so well.
does anyone know where i can find the segament on the actual sewing/binding? i saw her boar the hole in the stick, and after that i'm missing one segment!! the most important one!!
@Karkaraff You can get jeans worth using at yard sales, thrift shops, flea markets and places like Goodwill. Or, you can ask for jeans on Freecycle. :)
This is sooo much harder than it looks!! I have sewn together my rug 3-4 times. It always bowls up when I turn it over!! It is about a 6 foot long oval. I always make the part facing up the bottom, and when I turn it to the top it is a big bowl...really frustrating. Any tips on how to stop it from doing that? Thanks a bunch!!
I hope this helps you...I did a smaller rug with cloth and was having same prob,so I went back unstitched and redid the stitches looser with some spacing between them, this stopped it from bowling,,,hope it helps
My grandmother used to make rugs like this and they do last a very long time. I have attempted to make one of my own using old socks, but never got around to finishing it.
Ok, I was just watching videos of Super Smash Bros. Brawl....
How the sweep jumping crap did I get here????

I had just googled this, saw all parts. Also, I could crochet this? Hmm. I'm going to ask friends, family to give me old jeans.

Looks cool....but kind of too expensive. My jeans cost $30 a pair, so it'd cost $150 to make the rug.

@Karkaraff
yeah, but you could just use old pairs that don't fit or you don't like anymore. :)
