  • Popitz, a member of the Resistance Circle of Goerdeler, approached Himmler in August 1943 in an attempt to enlist him, since their efforts in the Wehrmacht were not successful. Himmler did not commit, but he also did nothing to eliminate the conspirators until the 20 July plot failed.

  • new evidence is emerging that himmler was murdered by british agents after he surrended, so that he would not give evidence at nuremberg which may implicate the british in trying to make a seperate peace with germany in 1945.

  • the holocaust was horrible, i still cant fathom the suffering and horror,,but the thing about jew controlling media and govts ,,in some ways in america thats not too far from the truth.. the holocaust is the darkest period of worlf history so far, and all to think its masterminds were hitler a bitter madman and himmler a thug with no soul...it disgusts me how so many followed these crazy fuckers orders to carry out such horror.

  • @andrewkenworthy you sandwhich a racist viewpoint with your disgust of the holocaust like that excuses it. so what if a lot of Jews work in the entertainment industry?

  • 10,000 trucks for the Jews... wow

Wow, that would have been something if a separate peace between the west and Germany would have come together. That would certainly have expanded the war, as the Soviet Union would never stop without conquering Germany.

  • Yes shows how desperate Nazi Germany was.

  • I find the date of the Himmler - Churchill telegram extremely curious. The bomb plot (in which I believe Himmler had knowledge) had happened only six weeks earlier and the judicial murders started only two weeks before. The great opportunity for the Nazis to drive a wedge between the Allies in pulling out of Warsaw and allowing the Red Army to fight it out with the Polish Home Army lost. If this were a peace proposal then the timing was not good. Maybe it had something to do with Poland?

  • I'm not sure how much Himmler knew, but I know that Sepp Dietrich knew. Its amusing to think that Himmler thought he could save his pathetic life with stupid deals towards the end.

  • Himmler was approached by the conspirators in the summer of 1943 and he did not arrest them although he stood on the fence. On 19 July 1944 he told his wife to get out of Berlin immediately - she went to Munich but did not arrive, got to somewhere like Hof or Bamberg (I cannot remember now where) before coming back. Even Speer wrote that his behaviour was suspicious. Himmler was noticably absent throughout the day. The crackdown afterwards I think was to hide his guilt.

  • Who in the conspiracy approached him?

  • At the beginning of August 1943 after the defeat at Kursk and as the Soviets were advancing, Johannes Popitz, Prussian Finance Minister, came to see Himmler. The deal may have been that Himmler organise a coup d'etat or at least attempt an end to the war. Himmler was non committal according to Popitz. Popitz expected to be arrested and was prepared to sacrifice his life and by his own account was surprised not to be arrested. He promised Himmler the support of the opposition.

  • karl goedeler.august 1943.but himmler wanted to ov erthrow hitler since 1941

  • @2bn442RCT great upload, learned a few things i did not know about himmler, knew at the end of the war he attempted to make deals with the allies, to save his life from possible execution at the nuremburg trials, did not know of any of the specifics of the deals, hard to believe though that one of hitler's top nazi's and probably as the documentary states hitlers most powerful nazi's right up there with herman goering, that even himmler would eventually give in and admit that the war was lost

  • @alanheath You can read about Himmler's possible involvement with the conspirators in the James Douglas Hamilton book Motive For A Mission: The Story Behind Hess's Flight To Britain.

  • This is interesting speculation. However I don't think anything has been proved regarding Himmler knowledge or complicity in the 44' plot. But, no question that Himmler was a double dealer in his actions in late 44' and 45'

  • Of course the Churchill telegram is speculation. But Himmler was informed of the resistance activity and he did send his wife out of Berlin on 19 July 1944. On circumstantial evidence together with what happened later I think we can build up a good case.

  • yeah thanks for this :)
