  • I can't seem to find the .WAV file in the folder I placed it in. I look where it should be but it doesn't show up..

  • Comment removed

  • can you do a tutorial on how you made the bassline using the matrix and thor? seems interesting

  • Faved!

  • Hey how do you listen to your sound when your setting the time start?thx:(

  • How do you clear out of the all samples in NN-XT?, before I put a new sample into it. Or just have to delete the each G:Sample, then save as? o.o

  • @DJSoNHustle before doing anything, right-click on the NN-XT, select "Initialize patch". If you want to have "empty" modules when you create then, go to Reason's preferences, in the General tab, uncheck "Load default sound in new devices".

  • I hate the fact that you have to manually turn the sample start knob while auditioning repeatedly to find where you want your sample to start. If your sample is really small you're screwed b/c the resolution is not fine enough to pin point certain things. I'm an Ableton Live user but I started out with Reason and this is one of the reasons why I went to Ableton, the sampler and flexibilty of routing and everything else is....crazy! FL Studio's Slicex is cool too b/c you can realtime chop samples

  • @bigdap100 just right click the sample and go to edit sample.. so much easier

  • i need that bass for my thor

  • whats the name of that track??

  • Hey thanks for the vid!

With the NN-XT u can't "edit automation" with the knobs?

  • Great vids. It is hard to slice for how much I want its end. >_<;

  • Superb. Thanks man. I'm looking forward to trying this :-)

  • is there a way i can sample mp3 or something?

  • @skaternoa26 nope only WAV files you can convert an mp3 into a WAV and use it .

  • Great video....thanks!

  • super helpful video!

  • song name pls

  • @williamlamy the nnxt wont let me use my own wav files.. do u know why???

  • jk. i got it. alt key!

  • how did you make each sample play when you clicked on it?

  • It wont let me add my own wav files... please help

  • very useful video, thanks

  • may I be able to sample or sequence a chord with this? I mean, just setting a chord to ring with just hitting a note? please help me

  • thank you so much!!

  • thanks.. great tutorial

  • thank you very much!

  • whats the samples full name? Nice tutorial

  • i automap the tracks chromatically but they still all play the same thing? any ideas? cant seem to change the entry time either... do i have draw something first?

  • @bomberbadj I've added a link at the end of the video description for you.

  • Damn you're awesome

  • Nice tutorial, thanks for sharing!

  • also cant hear the song when automapping it to slice it... :(

  • when i click on a wav to import it says unsupported format, wtf?

  • I cant effect where one note starts without effecting where the rest of them start

  • @Arrigrab because all layers are selected.

  • why can i not import stuff from itunesss?

  • @tricky12321 I had trouble importing tracks from my desktop untill i realised they had to be WAV files, don't know if that will help you

  • @tricky12321 Cuz it's not .wav?

  • GOOD LOOKIN OUT for this GEM....I hate always having to go through the process of using Recycle.....it kills the creativity a bit

  • awesome tutorial. It took way too long to find a good one about slicing up samples in reason only

  • fantastic quick little tutorial. love that beat, too. nicely done.

  • Sick beat man.

  • thank you

  • dank beat

  • how do we get it quantize with the temp

  • i just tried this method. It's a nice work-around, but i find it impractical on larger WAVs, the % cropping just isnt accurate enough, but i can see how it would work well on smaller files.

  • This is an extremely helpful video, thank you :)

  • is there a way to slice the sample automatically instead of having to manually set the start and end of each chop? sorta like how the MPC 2000xl does it

  • yea mate fanks uv made me advanced..

  • tanxs!!! iiiieeeeepaaaa!

  • how well does this work with drums?

  • @Bootstrap193 it works on all wav sound. if your wav contains drum, yes

  • that's a sexy piano loop

  • btw, you can do this in logic with 2 clicks lol

  • SONG NAME????

  • Fantastic tutorial - I love Recycle, but for my purposes this little tutorial renders it somewhat unnecessary

  • @Josh7711Dub tv, radio, youtube, real people... Get your microphone out.

  • Can you update that link again, that was a bass sound I've been searching my whole life for. *drool* :)

  • @WpGv1nc3nt the link actually works.

  • Question:

When, I do that, I can't configure each sample to a key, the only thing that changes is the picth and I need to select the sample I'm working on...Can you explain me?

  • LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOU!

  • hey first off thnx for the video man, appreciate u helping us all out.

It's strange.. I'm stil having a problem importing wav files. What I'm trying to do is import some vocals I recorded in FL Studio and I exported it as a wav file... yet everytime I click the file in the NNXT sampler, it says that it is an unsupported format. Do you have idea what the problem is?

  • @ebsho803e Please check your FL Studio WAV export dialog box, you may have chosen a compression algorithm (like adpcm), make sure you uncheck it.

  • @williamlamy I don't see a box for compression

the options are: Alias free TS 404, disable max poly, and HQ for all plugins

    Save ACIDized?, and delay compensation

  • @williamlamy ey thnx man, the way I do it now is just export it from audacity. Also I was wonderin is it possible to detect the tempo of your sample through the NNXT 19 or change it?

  • and also rename each note, I rightclicked but there was no option for renamin?

  • @ebsho803e get the free program audacity or another wave editor, drop the WAV file in question in to it or load it up, then import it, should work fine

  • @djnero78 thnx man, it worked! Appreicate the help

  • @ebsho803e anytime, and your a better man than me if you can figure out that NNXTm xD way too many twiddlys and knobs lol

  • @djnero78 haha it's all good

  • sweet little tutorial and nice result - thanks man!

  • awesome

  • everytime i automap i cant hear the song to be able to try and slice

  • @dcboi8111 I guess you need to transpose the octave down (maybe a couple of times) on your midi controller in order to trig the automaped zones.

  • what bartok song is that and who is playing it?

  • NIce dude!

  • @williamlamy

Hey mate, really nice tutorial, however I can't load any WAV or AIFF or any other format files/samples from my computer onto the sampler, except the ones that come with the software. Any idea why?

  • @Restlesscrocodile I think you're trying to open a patch (upper "open" button) instead of opening a sample (lower "open" button)

  • @williamlamy YES! Thanks a lot. Et t'es francais non?

  • @Restlesscrocodile yep! ça se lit à mon accent ? :)

  • @williamlamy nan les icones sur l'ordi haha

  • Thanx a lot!! really helped me a lot:D

  • damn... that was informative.. thanks...

  • great tut i learned alot! now is there a way to have the samples play on the keys without holding them?

  • @UnderGroundArsonizt raise the amp envelope R cursor (release)

  • @williamlamy cool that helped a bit thank you, and what about to where it responds to one key so that the samples dont overlap?

  • @UnderGroundArsonizt set the "key poly" value to 1 (upper left) for all sample layers.

  • Can i get that beat bro? It's like some good organic weed to my hears lol

  • somne one pmn me please if i use NN-XT i loaded the kick i want if i open thor i only get the sound of NN-XT some one help me :(

  • man thank you so much you are a god i love you <3

  • Look im noob i just started to use reason...and i understood what you show to us...just one thing...at 1:58 how do you play the sample?? if i double click it opens again the window to select a track..

  • @Sovaros1 alt+click will do the trick

  • @williamlamy thank you very much

  • very cool stuff! congrat, an maxi respect from Hungary!

  • THANK YOU. I just sampled Bluetech's "Cliffdiving"

  • THE STEP AT 0:25 IS NOT WORKING FOR ME. yes i re-saved my wav files as a Microsoft wave file and it still doesn't work. None of the files show up.

If u know how to fix this, u should make a tutorial on how to fix it . if u can help me out id appreciate it.

  • @XrisSmiles i think you've been mistaken by clicking the "open patch" button (in NN-XT's upper area), instead of the "open sample" button (lower area).

  • @williamlamy BINGO!!! thanks. thumbs up

  • u really helped me out, awesome videos....

  • dude, when you've finished sampling, do you know how to automate the pitch without it affecting tempo?

  • That beat is NICE! Thanks for the Tutorial!

  • Thanks for the video. You give excellent instruction.

  • Hey there! Thanks for the vid.

I'd like to ask you how can I set the starting frame more accurate? As I see the minimal measure is 0,4% but it allways miss the beat.

    Big Up!

  • you saved my life ! thanks

  • thaaaanks its help a lot

  • dude, quality tutorial ... the finished product sounded insane!! thanks again!!

  • Hi I'm a newby on samplers. I have a question: is it possible to configure the sample on NNXTto be key sensitive? I've tried with no success so far.

    tnx!!

  • Nice, thanks!

  • Bro you are the best!!! you help me a lot!! thnx!!

  • I don't think that's Bartok. Not his style.

  • @williamlamy Alright, it seems the beta version of Audacity was actually the issue. Now I can select the file in the nn-xt programmer, but the display is still the demo "GrandPiano", I think because of the selected patch above it? I'm not sure how to go about ignoring the patch and using my sample.

Sorry if this all sounds very noob, I've only been at it a few weeks haha. :) Thanks very much.

  • @deersketch Right-click in nn-xt > initialize patch. Also, you can set Reason to keep from loading default patches when creating modules in preferences.

  • I got an mp3 acapella and converted it to .wav in Audacity, but when I browse for samples in the nn-xt programmer, I can find the file but not play or use it?

  • @deersketch if Reason says "corrupt wav file", get back to Audacity and make sure you're exporting your file as "microsoft wav". If the wav file loads ok in Reason, you may need to keep the keyboard key pressed for a long time to hear the vocals, because there's often silence in the beginning of acapellas.

  • @deersketch I had the same problem but i found a way (at least it works for me :) ). I converted sounds in microsoft .wav but when i browsed it said "unsuported file" .Try to convert your sounds in 16 bit and not in 24 bit .I don't know why but this works !

  • good look!

  • Thanks For the tutorial ! Perfect !

Could you please give me the title of that pieace of bartok , I 've just hear it once and i'm addicted to it !

  • Good work. thanks for the post

  • how do i get rid of background noise on the sample? anyone know?

  • williamlamy Bela Bartok is great. What composition is this?

    Very well produced tutorial.

  • This is so much more difficult/time consuming than slicing with ReCycle.

  • this is the best sampling video ive seen so far man great job... but one question: will the nnxt find the wav file automatically on my desktop?

  • Thanx a bunch for the tutorial, U literally saved me a few hundred bux with this. I'm subscribing today. Goodbye Recycle!!!!

  • thanks!

  • Now THAT's what I call a comprehensive tutorial, well done, thank you!

    M

  • when i click on the sample there is no sound but when i double click it the window keeps on popping out and i have to click on play. i click on autoplay and same shit happens. idk what to do

  • This is how i accomplish my sampling in reason but i did learn one tip from this so thanks for the post

  • quick question....when i try to change the start point of any sample that i use it wont let me tweak it to the exact pont where i want the sample to start. for instance, itll be set at 22.9 percent and instead of allowing me to go up to 23 it skips to 23.4 or some random number. is this normal? and anyway to change that? sorry for the noob question

  • using korgpadkontrol

  • blah! ok I figured out how to make it not trigger along with sample. piano is still the ,main patch tho and is messing up my sample. sounds all slow and screwed up. so if you know how to make it sound exactly how my clip should be..... titties.. thats right kids.

  • @terrapinisland84 im not sure if this will help, but try right clicking anywhere on the nnxt and selecting "initialize patch" to clear the piano prior to loading your samples

  • A picture of my amazing tits goes to the first person to answer

  • Thank you for the video. QUICK QUESTION FOR ANYONE. when I load my sample into the nnxt everything is fine, but the above patch always is on piano. I can change it ofcourse, but I would like to only trigger my sample.Instead it triggers the piano key or whatever WITH my sample. How do I change this so it only triggers the sample alone?

If any of you know please respond

  • @terrapinisland84 yes you can. First you will need to initalize the patch(by right clicking the mouse) and that will erase the default piano patch:) then go inside the NNXT editor and do your thang! hope this helps

  • when i put the pointer in the sample list i cannot obtain any sound like the tutorial, i mean when you put the pointer ( on the part of the slice as you want ) in the video, i see the sound icon on it. why?

  • @photogramistic Minute 1:58...editing beans...doesnt work.

  • @photogramistic alt+clic

  • Thank you very much for putting this video on youtube.

Previously I did not know how to upload a sample to the NN-XT, and I struggled with this for a few weeks!

    Thanks again!

    peace! ; d

  • I have never used NNxT for such missions. Very nice outcome....and I learned a little something too. Thanks for sharing!

  • Why is this preferable to make a rex of the sample?

  • william top man ...many thanks ..great little video ...i'll be watching 4 more ..thx again BBB

  • very good tutorial, make more usefull tutorials, sub

  • What's the best way to learn how to use reason 4.0? I play the drums, but production with a keyboard and Reason seems super difficult!

  • @sleepx2 the best way is to read the user manual, to test on your computer, to read again the user manual, and again. take your time, as you did with the drums, right ?

  • @sleepx2 get one of those rock band drum sets that have the usb connector and configure them as electronic pads in reason then u can just drum away in reason. i havent tried using the drum set as a keyboard yet but if i find one again i'll let you knw if it works hehehe i'm ever the tinkerer

  • What's "shit+click"?

  • Wow, I've been using reason since it's first release but I must confess I didn't know you could fine tune the NNXT's starting point by holding down shift. Nice tip!

  • Wow, I've been using reason since it's first release but I must confess I didn't know you could fine tune the NNXT's starting point by holding down shift. Nice tip!

  • Added : download link for the bass Thor patch.

Unroll the video description to see the download link.

  • How do you convert a song in reason to mp3??

    I need help

    please advise

    Thanks!!!!

  • @donjuleon reason only renders WAV or AIF files, so save as WAV or AIF, then find a software that converts this to MP3. Many freewares will do (Audacity, Lame...)

  • Awesome review! Where are you getting your drum sounds from? I get mine right now from Drumsoundz(dot)com and I get all my samples and loops there. Anyone know of any other good places?

  • which bass patch?!?!?! if i initialize i get the most useless sound

  • @Partyphotographer starting with the init patch, lower the freq filter, raise the filter amp, lower the osc1 octave, and you're done.

  • @williamlamy you're the man man

  • freeekin sweet man, big help. Thanks

  • Thanks man. Been trying to find a Reason (pun intended) to put the Maschine up for good. Between this tut and Kong, I think I can finally do that.

  • Awesome m8, u just saved a lot of my time on switching reason to cubase sx3 and export the parts to Reason!
