And here's another contradiction to consider: whereas the Book of Mormon has people wearing the name Christian in about 73 B.C. (Alma 46:13, 15), the Bible states that the disciples of Christ were called Christians first in Antioch (Acts 11:26). This was in approximately AD 40, and thus represents a difference of over 100 years. Which account are people to believe? After all, according to Mormons, both books are inspired.
Jerusalem-pathetic,btw-modern day example: someone says they're from Chicago but they're really from a small town just outside. No one knows small town, but they all know where Chicago is, so they use that. Poeple in America but the time Alma was around really only knew Jerusalem, so they used that.

3-Christ was originally a Greek translation for the hebrew "messiah", so christian would be a greek word...
well gosh, it looks like i'm having trouble posting. If you're still getting these anyways, i'm sorry about the inconvenience. I'll try them again in a little while to see if its started to work.
would be a greek word meaning Messiahites, apx. Closer might be "followers of the messiah" or as we now say "followers of the Christ". Christian has now become an english word, so what ever word wsa actually used by the people in the BoM would accuratly translate to "Christian" That was your weakest point yet, i think.
So, on the claim that the BoM contains none of the key doctrines of the "mormon" gospel, i have to recant what i just sai. THAT is...
ACTUALLY your weakest point. EIther 1-you think you know what we believe on your own, or 2, you've been told that we believe something other than what we really do.
Key beliefs of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints"
Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and the Savior and Redeemer of all mankind
Christ taugh faith, repentance, and baptism as neccesary for enter the kindgom of God
You can learn truth through sincere prayer to your father in heaven, and since He loves you, he will....
You need to study diligently the things of God and seek gain a greater learning and understanding of his gospel. This includes both personal study and confirmation through prayer
the gospel has always been taught to the children of men by prophets who recieve continuing Revelation from God to guide His people
I'm a little distracted at the moment, but i think that sums key beliefs rather well.
Alos, so far your arguements have been pretty weak, so i'll give you another...
chance by trying to point out a true disagreement between the bible and the Book of Mormon. I must warn you however, that in all likelyhood i will meet your contradictions with points from the Bible, not the BoM, so unless you REALLY surprise me, you're pretty welll sunk. After i take care of this round, i'll probably just leave it to yourself to make it a matter of sincer and HUMBLE prayer to God and ask Him what you should do, and pray with a true willinglyness to do whatever he says, even...
even if it means going against everything you thought you knew. Without such a willinglyness to do anything and everything God asks of you, like Abraham when told to sacrifice his son in the OT, you couln't call yourself a true disciple of Christ. Those who truely desire to follow him MUST be willing to give up EVERYTHING for Him and what he tells them to do.
Another contradiction: Contrary to the Bible prophecy concerning the Lords birth in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2), and the fulfillment of that prophecy in Matthew 2:1, the Book of Mormon reads: And behold, he (Jesus) shall be born of Mary at Jerusalem (Alma 7:10). The writer of the Book of Mormon was wrong.
Rather than God confusing the language of all the earth at the tower of Babel as the Bible records (Genesis 11:9), the Book of Mormon contends that the language of Jared, his brother, as well as their friends and family members were not confounded (Ether 1:33-37).
I didn't quote Galatians word for word. Yes, I should have used the word gospel rather than Bible. Here's the scripture as it is: Gal. 1: 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! 9 As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!" Obviously that would refer to people like Mormons who preach a false gospel.
ah, yes it would, but 1st you have to show how it is that it is a false gospel. Using what "gospel" technically means, or providing your own def, show me how that would apply, then, to the faith of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. And you can't say simpley believing in the Bible, b/c as you may have noticed, I have used ONLY the Bible in our conversation. Why? B/c thats all i need. It provides all the scriptural/spiritual evidence one can have without praying sincerly to God.
Just as a comparison, in the Book of Mormon we read that Jesus "shall be born of Mary at Jerusalem, which is in the land of our forefathers" (Alma 7:10). But Jesus was born in Bethlehem, not Jerusalem (Matt. 2:1).
Another problem: Scientists have proven that honey bees were first brought to the New World by Spanish explorers in the 15th century, but the Book of Mormon, in Ether 2:3, claims they were introduced around 2000 B.C.
It's a shame people spend two years of their lives in promoting a false religion invented by a false prophet. Unfortunately most Mormons don't have the courage to research for themselves the lies of the Mormon church.
you obviously don't know much about us. I have looked into some of these kinds of things. Those that don't look into it, its usually not because of a lack of courage, but more b/c they feel assured and content. Why? B/c we do what James says in James 1:5, and we feel the spirit as described in Galations 5:22-23. I think more people are afriad to pray about the LDS church, then there members 'afriad' to find out what people claim the church lies about.
You know, i started off defining what the gospel was, then red your statement again and discovered what a fallicy it is.
1-though a prophet, Galations 1 never mentions a prophet!
2-neither does it say anything about a man claiming to recieve info from an angel, just to not believ an angel if he tells YOU something contrary to the gospel.
3-neither does it say anything about the bible; again just the gospel. Based on what you CLAIM it says, though, things contrary to the scriptures, then...
based on that, then we can't believe the NT b/c it contradicts the OT and the NT did not exist as book of scripture at the time that Paul wrote his letter the people of Galatia.
Aside from that, the gospel is defined as the good news, which is the atomement of christ and hence our ability to to repent and be made clean through faith in christ. However, if you go a path that accepts the NT as well as the OT, we accept continuing revelation as a truth that can be confirmed by God by the spirit.
in another epistle, it says 'by their fruits ye shall know them" so the fruit of Joseph is the Book of Mormon, and to truely KNOW something, we must obtain it from God, and he has given us the guide [refer to previos James/Galations references] to gain that knowledge, and THAT, my friend, is why we believe what we do.
Joseph Smith claimed that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth (History of the Church, 4:461). If thats true, why has it been subjected to thousands of corrections and alterations since it was first published?
well, "most correct" doesn't not necesarily mean perfect now, does it? You will find that one of the two men who finished out the recording that we have now as the Book of Mormon said that if there be errors, they be the errors of men. Such as say...typoes, bad puncutation, etc. That would account for the majority of corrections, i think.
The Book of Mormon has other problems as well. It lacks historical or archaeological support, and there is an overwhelming body of empirical evidence that refutes it. Secondly, it contains none of the key Mormon doctrines. So how does it contain the "fullness of the everlasting gospel"? as Mormons claim it does. (It would be more accurate to say it contains almost none of their "everlasting gospel" at all.)
The big problem is that the Book of Mormon contradicts the Old and New Testaments. The only parts of the Book of Mormon that are accurate are the parts where Joseph Smith plagiarized the King James Version (yes, that particular translation).
