Under the circumstances occurring at the time... it all came down to a judgement call belonging to the 72 CO, to which, Police Officers in pursuit that were being shot at didn't want the pursuit being called off by the 72 CO. When asked by Central, 72 CO how you want to proceed with this? 72 CO responded: in pursuit. That's the only call Police Officers being shot at and in pursuit, along with responding Police Officers want to hear. SilverDollar482

a) I have seen more discipling in a classroom of monkeys and 5 year olds then these idiots that refused to obey the commands of central. This operator was very good under pressure.

b) the CO was calling it off because teh 72 sgt II was clearly not in a mindset to display competance in the situation. He was all over the place screaming and yelling. Clearly he was not in control. even the operator had to tell him to cool it. Also the pursuit produced an accident to hence the termination

It is procedure to call off pursuits when the attending co deems the situation to be unsafe, and poses an unneeded risk to civilians. But when a perp shoots at an officer it's war, all units in the area should have been responding. Love to the NYPD!
