These are my friends and the costumes are made with EL wire. We did it again this year and it's a lot of fun. People really freak out for some reason.
@seamonkeymarc Hey could I ask if you guys used black foamboard for the faces? Of all the EL stick people these were the best and the placement of the faces was perfect. Did you use elastic around the back?
@studiopeg Everybody did it a bit different but I found black foam board worked the best to glue the EL wire onto...and yes, I used elastic to hold it on. I also used open cell foam to make a padded mask on the back so it sat comfortably on my face. Safety googles (with a flat front) might also work well. The best thing I saw tho was a totally different group of stickmen this year (2010) who had built the faces on some sort of black wire mesh that they then clipped to the bill of a baseball cap

I've seen the wire faces on baseball caps video and I think they are using the newest EL wire (2.6mm) that holds the shape much better, but it's see-through so I think in dim light the effect would be ruined. I like you guys better. Thanks again for the reply.
@studiopeg Can you direct me to the video of the baseball cap guys? I would really like to see that. It's true, the baseball cap system was a bit see thru up close but it looked very comfortable. A few hours on the playa with foam board on your face gets very uncomfortable. I'm hoping someone posts videos of my group this year too b/c I had a whole new face and I'd love to see the effect.

Glow sticks. I was a glowstick person for halloween last year. You know those ittle plastick things that cunect the glowsticks? (They come with the glowstick packedge) Well you just sow those on the black cloths. And for the head, I just used a ski mask. Oh, and sorry for the spelling, I just woke up my brains not running well yet.
