  • Well, that's classy

  • NO NO NO NO Chuck Bass is NOT NOT NOT a preppy - he is the epitome of a gaudy arriviste!

  • thanks man for the advice, i can tell you have a lot of experience in this. i will remember no socks also. you should open up a school for this.

  • im tryin to go preppy. but i dont know how to match the clothes up. the colors they wear doesn't go together. but they make it look good. how do i do that?

  • @turnerc04 Just wear them. As you noticed, preppies clothes don't have to match exactly but they are always cordinated. If the pieces you are wearing are classic and "preppy" then you shouldn't have trouble. One advice I'll give you specially if you are new to this is to look always natural. Avoid wearing a peacoat or wool jacket if you are in a tropical weather for example. Also Searching for advices in color matching is smart but don't take that too seriously, just so you can know the basics.

  • @preppychrisbou another good way to imagine it is to think of the Hamptons or Nantucket. I'm sure you've seen movies where the characters are "vacationing/summering" in those places. A lot of the spring and summer color schemes are usually softer pastel colors. White is a very common color. Pretty much anything bright. Think of colors you would see on a beach ball and tone them down a notch or two.

  • You guys, this is where my future lies.

  • yesh this is style!

  • omg... the guys especially bring back so many memories of boarding school... [btw, that scruffy dude with goatie would be considered boho prep... borderline... lol]

  • To the person under me.... y u mad?

  • There's nothing prep about ANY of this.

And BTW, Ralph Lauren's real name is Ralph Lifshitz. He grew up in the Bronx, the son of a house painter, and attended an orthodox Jewish day school and public high school. There's nothing prep about him, despite him trying so hard to refashion himself into an uber-WASP. It's really kind of pathetic, like a white kid trying hard to be taken seriously as a gangsta rapper. I'd have more respect for him if he kept his name and designed leisure suits.

  • @bricology What is prep then?

  • @jhkl123456 -- What is prep? Three things: tradition, understatement and (obviously) private education. Without all three of these, nothing can be prep. Prep is all about tradition -- specifically, New England, Ivy League, WASP (white, Anglo-Saxon Protestant) families, (usually) old money, old homes, old schools. What NON-preps today call "preppy" is nothing more than a fashion fad, created by and marketed to people who are NOT from preppy backgrounds. They're just poseurs.

  • @jhkl123456 ...Preppies don't want to be noticed and certainly don't like new fashions. Most wear what their fathers and mothers, grandfathers and grandmothers wore, and often they wear the very clothes they wore. Conspicuous consumption and designer logos are anathema to preppies. Brooks, J. Press, etc. Real preps would rather wear their father's or grandfather's beat-up old watch than a new Audemars Piguet, and their dad's old Izod shirt (with the croc cut off) than anything from Polo.

  • NB: in the middle, I wrote "Brooks, J. Press, etc." What I meant to say (but somehow got clipped out) is that *real* preps wear clothes from companies like those, rather than Polo / Ralph Lifshitz or Abecrombie & Fitch. Tradition, conservative style, understatement, non-status-seeking and non-faddishness are the hallmarks of true preppyness. From Miss Porter's and Deerfield to Winchester and Charterhouse, real preppy students wear that kind of clothing, not this faux-preppy stuff here.

  • Cheers to Ralph Lauren!!!!

  • These are the gayest clothes on earth....

  • EWW

  • @AirForceGirl05 Hey! Don't say that! You never know...

  • well its a style. so i still like abercrombie and hollister and im totally gonna wear it and still be preppy. its not a religion and i prefer a mixture of my favourite styles anyway. nothing must be this stereotypical, damnit.

  • Preppy guys are so hot. I'm black and i don't come from a rich family so none of them would ever date me, but I love the way they dress.

  • @AirForceGirl05 it has nothing to do with your money, you're just not hot.

  • @pentumplementgum

probably. who cares? nothing I could ever do about it, so I just live my life.

  • I want my boyfriend to dress just like the guys in the video!!!

Do i ask too much??? :(

  • Preppy is a lifestyle more than a fashion for me, but I wear the classic prep style

  • 2:18 totally me

  • @Mr89Nef Is that really you?

  • @preppychrisbou lol sorry i meant what he was wearing

  • @Mr89Nef I thought that at first but then I started wondering :P

  • @Mr89Nef What don white guys that wear original Sperry Topsider shoe without sock smell like. Yes they have very stinky feet. I smelled a lot of preppie white guy feet in the past.

  • Coming from a blue blood prep family I must say that these so called "prepsters" at my school are not "preps" at all! They are some senseless girls and guys wearing Hollister. What ever happened to the real preps out there? What happened to our people?

  • @MrJblair26

Blue blood in the USA? Sure, dream on you peasant.

  • ...It's all about an unstudied, relaxed chic. I am not a prep myself; I did however go to an elite prep school, so the aesthetic is forever imprinted in my psyche.

  • I think you've got the clothes all right, but the pictures of regular people are more spot on than the professional/fashion shoot pictures. Preppy girls don't wear much make-up, if any. Finding one sporting a dark, super-bold, smokey eye is akin to spotting a Yeti. Most importantly, preps don't do elaborate hairstyles. My friends barely put a comb through their hair for prom...

  • im a black female, is it okay for me to dress preppy?

  • @Missteree87 YES, YES, YES!

  • @Missteree87 no.

  • @Missteree87 ONLY if you want me to date you. black girls dress with class. hot.

  • Doesn't the preppy trend go hand-in-hand with the lifestyle? I like this look, but let's face it, I can't be prep with my budget and my education. Now how many of us can really say we're preppy. Maybe at heart, but for some of us, never truly unless you really want it and go for it.

  • This style is simply elegant and smart! I best like clothes designed by Tommy Hilfiger, but such Zara has some interesting pieces of clothes like that, too.

  • When you see a bunch of blonde preppies you get your guard up, you don't want to assume they're cool and be proven wrong

  • Thank you for understanding what a true prep is. :)

  • @preppychrisbou And thats what true peppyness is about..not how people take us to be snobby spoiled brats.. We're just clean well dressed people :)

  • Prep is truly a good trend and it will never end x3 IMO preppy is just making the best of life..being positive..and having a great time!!

  • YUMMY. preppy is the epitome of class and style. trends are fun, but this will never be old

  • i like the clothes, i just don't like what they represent....

  • I saw this guy coming onto a bus in Oxford, wearing leather loafers (no socks), a matching belt, a red and white oxford shirt tucked into his rolled up khaki trousers (this was before this look became "in style"), carrying graduation robes. HE LOOKED SO YUMMY!

  • Out of the 2,000 girls at my school, two of them classify as "preppy," in the true sense of the word.

  • i always thought that people who dressed this way were all rude and snobby, but looking at the comments on some of these videos im very happy to be proven wrong. :)

  • This is how men should dress.

  • This is how men should dress.

  • Love it it's ashame niggers destroy this lifestyle

  • @joeyyy1993 that's so uncalled for and brings you down with a great thud!

  • @joeyyy1993 you suond pathetic and sound so uncouth and uneducated. you clearly lack lack class.

  • @joeyyy1993 I'm simply writing, not to bash you at all because you can express how you feel, but I live in new york and there are so so many stylish, preppy, black men who look like the models in this video. Sometimes I think classy black men and women dress better than other populations. So, it's not the "niggers" that destroy this look it's all types of people who just don't value preppiness like we do :)

  • this is sooo sexyyy

  • i wish all guys dressed this way so sexy

  • @CCwaterfalls darling i've dressing like this for months haven't you noticed me yet?

  • @CCwaterfalls they can't because other people can't afford these clothes which is sad

  • The colorful clothes look amazing on models.

  • I've been dressing this way for over thirty years............J Crew, Land's End, L L Bean, Orvis, Eddie, Bauer, etc., and these clothes never go out of style. By the way, Abercrombie used to be a big preppy-source, but they sold out some years back and is a joke now.

  • @Simon5005 Your right. People forget that Abercrombie is a really old brand, but the new leadership has bent over backwards to cater to upper-middle class teenagers instead of sticking to its rugged Northeast heritage. Some of their denim products still pass the test, but other than that I wouldn't want to be caught in one of their labels.

  • LOVELY , IT JUST COST ME A FOTUNE TO DRESS LIKE THAT. BUT I LOVE IT.

  • there is something so inspiring about preppy styles :) I'll take a guy in a nice blazer any day over T-shirts and jeans.

I noticed Chuck Bass was in this video, but where was Blair?? lol

  • preppy is classy :D NOT hollister and abercrombie and whatever else

  • @xastrickxplusx true

  • @xastrickxplusx Abercombie is somewhat preppy. Because the look of some of there items are classy and laid back, NOT Hollister. Hollister's too overated, you don't see much other good stuff out there these days. Like, my whole college campus wears Hollister! But i actually go with a little class:)

  • @xastrickxplusx what are really good preppy stores you can find in malls? for guys teens

  • @2Exotic2Fly2High ehhhh polo, brooks brothers, lacoste, check at a macys. Places like that have very bright pastels (colored collared shirts).

  • preppy guys are HOT!

  • I myself would not classify myself as being preppy but I have loads of friends who are 'posh' (for lack of a better word) and they are all lovely. One does get the odd stuck up wanker/bitch but on the whole they are a very congenial lot, and this is in Britain

  • @joeblowthehot Preps aren't actually stuck-up or prejudiced like alot of people think. That idea just comes from people who don't give Preps a chance and immediatley assume they are pompous.

  • love this style, amazing

  • This vid is like, inspiration for my summer clothes list

  • O U T S T A N D I N G !

  • now this is prep. not like in my high school were they think aeropostle,American Eagle,Hollister, and etc

  • I'm very pleased that at least someone on YouTube knows what a true prep is! Thank you so much, I feel so much better knowing that the classic preppy style hasn't been completely forgotten in today's mixed up perception of a prep! :) Job well done!

  • nice nice

  • Thanks!

  • The man at 2:18 is by far my favorite. He exemplifies a look that I can very much relate to. All in all another great video Chris, I really enjoy these

  • those kids in the beginning just look too snobby i like some of the clothes but some rl models look so weird and full of themselves

  • Hey Chris,

I just saw this vid. Well done my friend!

Some of these companies should hire you to promote their clothes!
