In Japan, yes. The GameCube was released in North America on November of 2001.

i think when i first saw ssbm in gameinformer magizing thats why i wanted a gamecube so i can play the new super smash bros game, i remember thoss commercials even ones for game that where for all 3 systems gamecube ps2 & xbox, games like ty the tasmanian tiger good stuff good stuff.
