I remember this as a kid on our family PC. My sister and I would use it ALL the time, and I never had any idea of what it was until now. We thought it was a game where you decorated a house with objects, and that's all we ever did.
I was screwing around on my stupid old windows me computer and found that the equally stupid utopia sound scheme has the same sounds as that crappy thing called microsoft bob. odd!
Wow. I was a Gateway2000 tech in these days. Sometimes I miss the 90s. When I see how simple things were, I really feel old. This is the best MS Bob flick on youtube.
Actually, I did originally upload a high quality version of this video but it took way to long to get processed. Even if you can't read the subtitles well (which is something I can't do about), at least everything else can be seen okay.
Don't worry though... my OS/2 Warp video is in high quality.
If we go back 15 years ago, the main idea behind Bob isn't so far-fetched (an OS shell designed for novice users and little children), the problem is that it wasn't very well implemented.
@CrashManEXE Yes. I read on one of the blogs of a Microsoft employee that the Windows XP disc had 30MB of free space, so they decided to jokingly put Microsoft Bob on it for the sole purpose of absorbing that last 30MB.
So yes, buy Windows XP, get Microsoft Bob for free. They didn't even bother announcing that until like a month ago.
I like ho at 1:48-1:50 the dog gets scared of how fast the typing goes.

Kidding me, I love this program.

BOB was awesome. GeoSafari was the coolest educational shit I ever experienced at the time. I hated that elephant tho for some reason.
I was about 7 so this was useful to me at least.

It was Bill Gates wife's project, that's the only reason they released that crap.

You need to make this video a higher quality, I can't see any of the text...

You actually got something RUNNING on virtual machine? Almost all programs made for Windows 95 wont run on virtual PC of said OS. :(
sonicfan966 1 year ago
Is that so? I wonder why most programs can't run on a Win95 virtual machine...

Bad memories of this piece of junk.

Huh, Geo-Safari was tied into this? I have a Geo-Safari World globe game, and it uses the same logo... Interesting.

I have a GeoSafari globe game also, but haven't used it for a good number of years. It still works, funnily enough.
CrashManEXE 1 year ago
Mine does too, some of the dumbest sounds come out of the damn thing though.

Wow. I remember this. I enjoyed it back then, but also, I was a child back then. Nostalgic.

Oh shit, I remember this. I haven't had this since my old Windows 98 years ago.

Wasn't this placed on the Windows XP disc to use up the last 30MB of free space?
Quadunit404 1 year ago
What? You're saying the Windows XP disc contained this program? D:

Will you do #1 on PC World Magazine's "25 Worst Tech Products of All Time"?
Reversinator 1 year ago
I remembered that #1 was AOL, and I don't intend to do a video on that.
CrashManEXE 1 year ago
It does indeed look stupid!
I could have made sense of that back in -99, but I didn't have it, thankfully!

So what exactly does this do?
lemurboy123 1 year ago
It's just a childish version of a user interface. Doesn't do anything useful.

@lemurboy123
it looks like the house of the average person and you click on crap to do what you should be doing in REAL LIFE.
