  • Bra!!! u so pro!! u making me jealous!!! dont stop!!

  • Howzit Brahdah! Awesome playing! What kind guitar you stay playing with in this song? I've been playing guitar (Slack Key) for 1-1/2 years now. I just finished Uncle Ozzie's Instructional Workbook/CD/DVD set. Now I'm looking for more songs to learn to play. Would you be kind enough to share tabs with me for this song and others? It would be greatly, greatly appreciated!!! Keep the videos coming Brah! You're a great young player who inspires me to continue learning also. Mahalo!

  • @slackkey007 I feel really bad because I get asked a lot for tabs, but I don't use them because I don't know how. I just go by ear and what I'm shown by other players. If it helps, it's in taropatch and there's no alternating bass so it's not like you have to be aware of that. I don't know offhand the exact model guitar this is, but it is a little martin with a solid spruce top and electronics. I think it's called a Martin LX1E.

  • Howzit Brahdah! Awesome playing!!! What king guitar you stay playing with in this song? Sounds pretty good! I've been playing Slack Key for 1-1/2 years now and just finished Uncle Ozzie's Instructional Workbook/CD/DVD Set. Looking for more songs to learn. Would you be kind enough to share tabs for this song and other songs, too? It would be greatly, greatly appreciated! Keep the videos coming - you're a great young player! Mahalo nui loa! Kimo

  • which slack key tuning are u using? It is pretty awesome playing. Love this song.

  • @rrohnonda This is just in taropatch tuning. It's fairly similar to how Uncle Ozzie would play it, except he would probably throw in more improv. Thanks for your comment.

  • I absolutely love it. It's really soothing :) There aren't much artists that can put this much soul into their music. Keep up the good work!

  • @dhaarbrink Thanks, I felt really stupid at the end though when I was trying to wrap it up. My fingers were still adjusting to the smaller guitar :)

  • Great playing - beautifull song :-)

  • Thanks, you play Liloa's Mele very nicely, not sure if I commented on it :)

  • Very nice cool and relaxing.

    Greetings from Peter in Sweden

  • Thanks, I'm expanding my "slow song" list.

  • Great playing and tone!

  • thanks for the comment, the little guitar puts out a pretty big sound :)

  • this is beautiful.

i haven't heard anyone play like this in a LOOOOOONG time

thanks for putting this video up ;)

  • Mahalo for the kind words, it's only cuz Uncle Ozzie taught me that I can play this song.

  • very nice version

  • it could probably be better.

  • Beautiful

  • thanks

  • That's absolutely beautiful.

(And Auntie's explanation made me blush too)

  • Thanks, I feel bad since I'm not one to get embarrassed though, I've given that up a long time ago :)

  • I loved it!

  • Mahalo!

  • nice playing cuz i love da song

  • Thanks, I think the sound is pretty good too for a mini guitar.

  • simply beautiful! well done!

    :]

  • Thanks, I still haven't done "E Ku'u Morning Dew" I forgot who asked me to learn that..?

  • I'd love to hear you do "E Ku'u Morning Dew"

  • Real Nice Zack! Is that in G tuning?

    Lee

  • Thanks Lee, yes this is taropatch tuning, it took a while for me to give into learning this song (mainly because it's slow) but things can grow on me and I guess this song did.

  • Oh my goodness - Zack, this is MAGNIFICENT! It is such a beautiful mele. You played it so sweetly and beautifully. A tutu lady once told me that anytime in Hawaiian poetry there is reference to a lily, it refers, ahem, (Auntie is blushing), a part of female anatomy that looks like the unopened lily bud. She said her daughter wanted to name her keiki Lily. Tutu said no can, coz it was rude because of the kaona.

    Me ke aloha,

    Auntie Wanda

  • Thanks for the comment Aunty. If my remembrance of the hidden meaning is wrong in the info, let me know please :)

  • You are right on about the kaona. Alohikea was quite the ladies man, and just having a wife was not enough for him. He was probably the one doing the most "plucking" of the flowers on different islands. And no mattah him, if was already plucked. Can read the lyrics, translation and mo`olelo on huapala . org. Also, references to moisture refer to some sweaty, moist activities that you shouldn't be hearing about because you are so young and innocent, yeah?

    Me ke aloha,

    Auntie Wanda
