I LOVE THEM SO MUCH. & NEW ZEALAND.

  • @pekkeco Nobody cares about your family...

Nice pictures, New Zealand is such a beautiful place, and it's closer than Norway!

  • Makes me weep with emotion. How blessed we are to live amongst such beauty. Never, ever take it for granted. New Zealand, our jewel of the pacific. Kiwi Pride, worldwide.

  • Amazing video, even if you aren't a Lord of The Rings fan I think that anyone would enjoy this tour, just for the beauty. One thing I would like to ask. Could you put where in the movies some of these pictures are, I recognize most of them but it would be nice if you put them down.

  • Is it possible for a group of me, and a few adventure buddies to physically move form one location to the other, as in trudging our way there, even to the "helicopter" only areas? Besides, what do you mean by "helicopter" accessible? is it located on top of a crag of rock 15,000 ft in the air? or is it simply inconveniently far away from roads and towns?

  • 7:31 makes me want to cry, the lord of the rings' soundtrack is unbeatable

  • i dont recognize many of them but they're still so beautiful, really, really good job mate

  • I'm glad I got to stay at Tongariro Nat Park earlier this year and got to walk around some of the places. Wasn't sure if any of the scenes were shot near our cabins but after research, I was happy to find out they were (Mead's Wall being one of them)....and we got to have afternoon tea in the Chateau (where the crew stayed), dirty hiking boots and all :D

  • i was in new zealand with my school, and we went in wellington to the movie locations. AMAAAAAAAZING. This Country is so nice like this Musik

Damn it, Harry! I visited New Zealand many years ago and I'm still feeling homesick. Your video only made it worse by showing pictures of the familiar sites.

  • omg.. i get tears in my eyes when i watch this! i want to be there!

  • the most beautiful place on the world!!!and lord of the rings the best trilogy as ever made!!!!!!!! 17-oscar

  • I really love New Zealand's landscape. Wow this video brings back a million tons of memories... Thank you for uploading this!

  • This brings tons of memories back. I fell in love with LOTR in 2002, and I still think it's the best story ever made upon this earth.

Great video, I'm definately going to New Zealand some time.

  • New Zealand is the best kept secret on Earth, lets KEEP it THAT way!

  • i am in newzealand where are these places????

  • @jttropicano South Island obviously

  • 2 trolls don't like middle earth

  • We were in New Zealand this past July and it is truly beautiful. Some of the most scenic landscapes I have ever seen. Only the Canadian Rockies come close.

  • omg i must go there!

  • amazin´

  • When the passions get tickled by your own land of ones birth - the emotions knows its own takes more than a minutes silence takes awesome quantum leaps that tongue can not tell - what can I say but ohhh my that' s home!

  • Great job at this video, love the pics and the music is great for bringing back memories of the films. Love it!

  • @DataWorkZ: Thank you and thank you all for your kind words about this video. Yes New Zealand is a very very very beautiful place on earth. And I am lucky to have the gift to make good pictures of such beautiful sites. Thanks a lot.

  • @HarryHoCom which is this song?

  • I see the Huckeberry Ferry still standing, also Bag's End,,, but it looks a litle by vandalized.... is anybody tanking care of those sites?

  • @caibarien71 : The Buckleberry Ferry is a landing stage / jetty for boats on private land like it was it also before LotR. Only the LotR-Set has been removed. Bags End is also on private land. All Set-Decoration has been removed. Only the raw holes has been not destroyed (long story why). But now the Art-Department is building a new Set for "The Hobbit"-Movie. So if you make a tour from Matamata you can see the new Hobbit-Set. So dont worry, there are people who takes care of these sites.

  • 0:41 ,,,, "Get of the road, quick!"

  • Was so sad when last movie came out .. because they arent making another 1 :(

  • @rang3r809: Dont be sad. In a few years you can see the LotR-Prequel, "The Hobbit". They are working on the script, there are castings and work on designs for the films. But the economic desaster of MGM is the big problem because they own a part of the rights for the Hobbit-Movies.

  • @HarryHoCom Ohh that will be good as..with the same characters?

  • @rang3r809: At this time Sir Ian McKellen (Gandalf), Hugo Weaving (Elrond) and Andy Serkis (Gollum) will go back to Middle-Earth. Nothing is known if Cate Blanchett will be play again the role of Galadriel. Sir Ian Holm (Bilbo) and Christopher Lee (Saruman) are too old for playing again their characters. The other LotR-Characters are not part of the Hobbit-Story. But there are some other characters like 13 dwarfes (incl. Thorin), Thranduil (father of Legolas) and a lot of humans like bard Bard.

  • @HarryHoCom pelenor fields? what minute?

  • @selearemus: 9:03 is the Set-Location for the Pellenor Fields, Ben Ohau Station near Twizel on South Island.

  • Breathtaking and magnificent scenery . Very beautiful video !

  • Once I graduate from Med School, I'll definitely try and seek a job from New Zealand... Such a beautiful country...

  • Im in the "gonna visit NZ sometime" expedition, Just amazing ^^

  • beautiful voice!

  • was in New Zealand few months ago. Fell in love with everything in that country.

    Want to get back there<3:)

  • I have lived in New Zealand my whole life and am sooo proud!! Our country is so young and fresh andalot of it is still unexplored. When i left the country on holiday and came back, the air was sooo ..clean. really proud of mycountry...

  • undoubtedly, i will visit New zealand one day before i die!!!!

  • Nz pride

  • I'll definitely visit it some day! A picture is enough, has convinced me that I should see it for real. I think in NZ are the best landscapes on Earth! Greets from Romania!

  • :( makes me miss home so much!! il be back soon enough!!

  • OMG amazing!!

  • New Zealand looks AMAZING..i found this great summer-semester abroad program, where you get to go and get college credits..type in the search bar:

New Zealand Abroad with Dr. Gilda Martinez

  • im going to new zealand in two years, i cannot wait, thanks for this video.

  • what a beautiful creation...

  • Shame about the remoteness of these locations, many of which would be a several hour hike by foot :(, a hairy, stumpy foot :P

  • This is such a nice video! But by who is the music? Tnx!

  • fantastic nature and perfect location for lotr. amazing

  • this is the paradise, i will live in shire, in an hobbit house!

LOTR and Hobbits NAD the shire Forever in my heart

  • have always wanted to go new zealand, hopefully i will one day :P

  • I am Kiwi but now I live in Germany.I like it here but I miss New Zealand.

The landscape there is so beautiful, primeval and unique. I took it for granted. Even in my home city of Auckland, with a population comparable to that of Munich, I was only 10 minutes from the beach and 20 minutes from the native bush where not a soul would be found.

Thank you so much for this video- it makes it homesickness slightly more endurable. The LOTR locations are among the best our land has to offer.

  • @Zggrt443 i currently live in B.C Canada, moving to Australia Next month for a couple years at least to finish university n stuff, then im gonna check out NZ to live in, and im gonna check out Germany^^

  • after returning from queenstown last week its amazing to see all the places i went in new zealand in which i didnt realise were lotr sets. truly magnificent country [5 STAR]

  • It's so sad. I live on the wrong edge of the world. Maybe one day I will get the chance to see the other (better) edge...

Thankyou for this, it's the most stunning video =)

  • Thanks! Yes, its a very long flight vom Germany to NZ. I know this by own experience. I hope you will have the chance to do it some day.

  • Love New Zealand, best place in the world! I live on the Kapiti Coast and I think it was some of the 3rd film that was filmed 10 mins from my house :P

  • Thats possible if you are living near Queen Elisabeth Park. Its the scene of Eowyn killing the Witch King near the dead mumakil. The Set-decorators dont want to bring the mumakil far away to Twizel on the South Island. But the gras was green at Kapiti Coast. So they take some chemical substances to make it yellow, the color of the gras near Twizel of the main Set-Location for the Pellenor Fields.

  • I wanna live there!

  • absolutly beauitiful! really need to visit sometime

  • Those really are breathtaking scenes and landscapes!

  • i love lotr

  • awesome video!

i love the lord of the rings trilogy and hopefully i will have the chance to make this fan journey as you did =)

  • Song name (first song) ?

  • Enya - May it be

  • Thanks

  • awsome... 0.0

  • Wow, those are beautiful... just beautiful sceneries! New Zealand is truly Middle-Earth. :)

  • 100% sure im going to new sealand once in my life ^^

  • I think they took it down but the location set for helms deep was not far from where i lived.

  • Yes, a lot of filming was done on South Island. But there were also some set-locations in Wellington-Area seen in this video: 1:31, 1:41, 8:39 and 8:49. And a lot of seen locations are not so far away from Wellington in central North-Island ans northern Soth Island. The Helms Deep location is not so attractive without the Set-Buildings because its only a quarry. But not far away are Set-Locations in natural beauty near Upper Hutt, Featherston and Kapiti-Coast.

  • can anyone tell me were is filmed the scene were sam and frodo sit and frodo is smoking his pipe and sam makes barbecue

  • good work.. realy good

  • Beatiful

  • looks like scotland

  • Billy Boyd said the same thing about the South Island.

"It looks like Scotland, only bigger"!.

My Mums family came from Scotland in the 19th Century and settled there.I guess it reminded them of home!.

  • it sure seems like scotland are you from there

  • Hello, your video is wonderful, might you say to me how it is called the first song? Thank you.

  • It is "May it be" from Enya in Cooperation with Howard Shore.

  • amazing..., i`m speechless

  • It seems we cannot post other urls here

  • What do you mean? I know that there is a technical problem to post video-responses. But I dont know how to repair it.

  • wow thats my backyard, I must explore it abit more lol.

  • I really hope that mankind never will destroy this beautiful nature.

  • fantastic video and music

  • I have been to them all, every one. I love NZ, will live there one day, me and my family. I got this book from Matamata, you so need this.. ISBN 1-86950-491-7

  • i recognize every one of these places from the movies

  • herrlich! klasse arbeit

  • 3:00 Crebains from Dunland!

  • i wondeing, when i can go to such place... i like it, but i have no money. if i can go there i want to live there.

  • From all the websites you showed me Harry, is it a good conclusion that Matamata is the only site to see for Hobbiton, other than WETA works of course? Seems like the southern island has the majority of the shots/scenery.

  • The major Filming with several Movie-Sets was made around Wellington (North Island) and Queenstown (South Island). Matamata is "only" Hobbitton. But its beautiful there and one of the most important places in thze trilogy.

  • If you arrive in NZ, check out Matamata, a small town in the Waikato region, check it out. Everyone knows where to book the tour.

  • Oh yes, Matamata is lovely. Book the tour at Matamata i site or

    hobbitontours[dot]com

  • So Awesome, I'm going there December 2009, but I don't know who to contact for a Lord of the Rings trip... Any tips?

  • Have a look to the website of Red Carpet Tours:

    redcarpet-tours[dot]com

For individual Tourists: Buy the Lord of the Rings Location-Guidebook by Ian Brodie (Harper Collins)

  • Bonita presentación. Gracias por compartirla.

  • tihs is so awesome

  • U R SO FRICKEN LUCKY i have to go there its amazing

  • Very nice video! I must visit those locations someday..Too bad I live in the opposite side of Earth.. :/

  • makes me feel good=p i can see the lotr places in my head;D this are the real places for filming, great job thanx for showing.. 5/5

  • btw. that song : Into The West makes me cry ,

    i feel so gay

  • that song isn't "Into the West"...it's "May it Be" by Enya included in the FotR soundtrack

  • There are both songs in this video:

May it be by Enya and Howard Shore and

Into the West by Annie Lennox and Howard Shore

  • it makes me feel happy inside ,

im a great fan of lord of the rings

  • :'(

    Beautiful!

  • i love it pure nature.

your one lucky guy and i hope to go there one time ( ore 4 ore 5 :)

i have some family living there.

    NEW ZEALAND HAS IT ALL

  • I´ll be there in 2 weeks from now, 31 hours of flying before landing in Auckland...isch!

Just wonder how to manage all I want to do in just 3 weeks.

  • what is the name of this song its beautiful

  • 1. May it be from Enya

    2. Into the West from Annie Lennox

both in cooperation with Howard Shore

    (as I wrote 4 weeks ago) ;-)

  • So are the Rohan sets that were built on top of the hill totally demolished?

  • Yes, i think so. They deconstruted it at first and build up a second time in the Studio-Area in Miramar (Wellington) for later Shots in 2003. I have seen it there. But I think that they are demolished now. On the top of Mount Sunday is nothing left.

  • i heard that there was a very small version of the house ore kind of palace of king theoden

  • wow, i love it, i think i must've gone on some of the same tours as you as i have very similar pics. i'm completely in love though, i would move there in an instant if i could is such an amazing country. :-)

  • 1. May it be from Enya

    2. Into the West from Annie Lennox

both in cooperation with Howard Shore

  • what is the name of this song?

  • ahhhhh this is beautiful i cant wait to move out there its amazingly beautiful breathtaking

  • where did they film the helms deep scenes??

  • Queenstown was where they filmed the journey to helmsdeep and alot of it was done in a studio. They filmed alot of the movie on Deer Park Heights in Queenstown. Deer Park heights was my favourite lord of the rings site.

  • The Battle-Scenes were filmed in a Quarry near Wellington (Lower Hutt). All the Helms-Deep-Set is deconstructed.

  • there's a tour from Geraldine that takes you to the valley that Edoras was filmed in. you cant get to the actual place though, as it's on private land. they take you to where helms deep was digitally put into the surrounding scenary. was very good :-)

  • if i get to go i will like... OHMIGODD.

  • you HAVE to go, it's AMAZING, and all the kiwi people are fantastic too.

  • :DD do you know if they have an lotr mueseum?

  • As I answered to you a few Weeks ago (other video): I dont know really, but I think there is no special museum. There has been an LotR-Exposition in Wellingtons Te Papa Museum and then touring around the world. I dont know whats about this Exposition now.

  • I can't say more than WOW!! Beautiful!

  • Awesome video man...

  • Wunderschöne Fotos !!!

  • Beautiful!

  • i'm so jealous!!!!!!!! i love LOTR but i'm living in germany so its too expensive for me to visit new zealand....

great video, great music, great film... i'm loving it!!!

    thanks a lot!!!!!!!

  • I, as a LOTR geek know the places, most of them. but perhaps you could have a flashback or a picture what scene is set there in a small preview.

    Maybe in the improved version.

  • Beautiful, thanks!
