Just a few facts: the Jewish people were expecting a Messiah. All the godfearing Jews were expecting his coming according to the many indications. All the families were very careful to watch over their daughters, just in case theirs was the chosen mother of their Messiah so this is not exactly true to facts. There were many who were falling away from the Eloheem of their forefathers. But there was a remenant who knew through the Prophets.

sneakiebug09, basically things became worse. The persecution increased, and eventually the Jews rebelled against the Romans. The Romans ended up destroying the Jewish Temple, killing many Jews, exiling the Jews and renaming their land as Palestine. This lead to Jews being exiled from their land and dispersed throughout the world.

@edoboleyn That is not entirely accurate. Devout Jews living in Judaea in that era were looking for a Messiah to come and save them from Roman occupation. They expected this man to be from the House of David, to be a fulfillment of dozens of prophecies made by Isaiah and a few others. They expected him to rise and be their king....and oppose men like Herod.

Yes, Jews were looking for a Messiah--and men claiming to be Messiahs were a dime a dozen at the time.

However, you are confusing "Messiah" with "Son of God." Other prophecies aside, nowhere did the Prophets suggest that the Messiah would be anything more than a man, not an incarnation of their ONE God.

AMEN!!! I soooooo agree with you. In fact, We women and girls are the reflection of GODS beauty and wonder. I was in a Bible group last summer and it was called "Captivating" by Staci Eldredge. IT WAS AMAZING!! I discovered beauty I never thought I had. I ENCOURAGE ALL WOMEN AND GIRLS TO DO IT IF THEY HAVE THE CHANCE!!!! It depends on who you ask. For a time many Christans believed (at least in some parts on the world anyway) that Elizebeth was also a virgin. These was later ruled a heresy by Catholic councils (sorry I can't remember which one.) Remember that many Church doctrines like oringinal sin and the Immaculate Conception were not found in the Bible , but determined by later writers
