@jrwel14 Thanks for the comments. Unfortunately I lack the skill to make similar ones, so I have to make do by filming them.
Some make their sails with polyester, and use very thin mylar or polyester double sided sticky tape for joints....and they seem O.K. !
I don't fancy heating up lead to make the ballast/keels...instead I use lead shot mixed with epoxy resin - you can make a shell out of balsa wood, then poor in the resin/lead mix to set.........good luck in your build !
@ericwardle Also, want to make a stick-up rig. It's a 2 masted skiff where the front mast is at the bow and overhangs the front of the boat. But, still need a way to make the sails, (no sewing machine) And, pour the lead for the weights.
nice.its even better that they were built from scratch. not many people now can. most of the parts are just bought from a store and assembled. my pop showed me how to build them from scratch. where did you get the red ensign on the first boat?
took a little while tracking down the answer to your question.
The owner who constructed the Red Ensign for "Ocean Breeze" started with a Union flag, then glued a piece of red silk to it - looks great in the wind.!
Most hobby shops will sell you a kit, but if you want a ready made one, try contactiong a local model boat club. They usually have members with boats for sale, and they will usually give advice and let you try one out before parting with your cash.
Hey me and my dad are making a model bluenose sailboat and were wondering if we should have the sails movable ie servos or have them stationary Thanks for the helo its a big ship... a little larger then the first one on here

Wow that black one is as big as my kayak. Can you get in it and sail? That would be fun. Have you ever herd of that or what?
chulieho 1 year ago
@chulieho Hi Chuleho,
The big black one is around 5-6ft long, and over 5 ft high.
On a windy day she takes on the 1 Metre yachts - no problem!
( See the light blue yacht in the video).
She hasn't got the buoyancy (or space) to carry anyone, but there are models around 10-12 ft that can.
I would ctick to your red Kayak - I checked your vidios.

where can i get one of these wanderful boats?
yboben 2 years ago
Hi Yboben,
Yes, they are great looking boats.
If you're interested in one, why not find a local model club. Even if they haven't got one for sale, they might know somebody who has.
The other option is to make one, but try the local club first - hopefully they'll point you in the right direction.

Wow Magnificent!!!
I love the opening sequence amazing camera angle really adds to the grandeur of it.
How did you shoot that angle by the way.
were you in a row boat
I think I want to get into this ... I have a beautiful lake in my neighborhood.

Hi Joey,
Glad you like the video of the sailing boats.
The filming is very involving because as well as taking the video, there is a lot of editing to do once the sailing is over.
The camera is a Casio Z600 running in VGA mode (640x480.
Your query about the camera angles have puzzled many people
- your guess is close !
The camera is actually mounted on a R/C motor launch, and sits about 6 inches above the waterline.
Sounds weird, but it works !

Does any one know where i could buy a kit, or even better, a pre-made one?
