@Gibson299 Indeed, when folks ask what I like LEAST about the car, my answer is simply "Parking it!" The engine is adequate for the car, not the quickest, but also not the most thirsty either!
Indeed. The less stuff there is, the less to go wrong. The only concession in smog equipment is that I am running an EGR valve to allow me to have a little more initial timing that allows me more kick off the line, but the EGR takes care of any potential of part throttle spark knock. Thanks!
Well it looks like I'm in your club... The wagon club that is...I just wish I could get it to do a smoke show like your Vista Cruiser can do...Tho I do have the Visa ( new word) "panoramic" roof.... Cheers Mr. AKA Torino....And keep smeling the roses..FG
I can always hope about clubs! Oh well! Indeed it is fun to be able to do these smoke shows every now and then. I finally got a couple of old tires to put on rims so I can really go at a good one next spring. Just the thought of ruining the tires on the car now holds me back! Regarding your 'Vista' what is old is suddenly rediscovered and new again. Cheers back to you, the Torino days may be distant, but still very vivid in the mind. I will always smell the roses, they survived another night.
Unfortunately it is only painted. If budget allows in the future, and I have absolutely nothing to do, I will torture myself and wrestle those heavy pipes and headers off and get them powder coated. Taking off headers on an Oldsmobile is not fun. Anybody who has ever said they just 'slipped on' a set of headers to an Oldsmobile probably has not. Read: Hold the starter whilst placing the left header. At least the exhaust is still in perfect shape, labels are still on the tail pipe sections.
It was a total fluke and in all honesty I NEVER expected it to catch as it did! I guess the 'feat' feet really worked well squeezing every last bit of gas out of the bowl into the throat of the carburetor!
Good thing I'm small and flexible! The way the car has to go into the garage, only 14 inches are between the wall and driver's side. I still get out of the car no problem, or slide across to the right where I have 24 inches. I did all the work by myself in the garage that you can see in my older movies such as the transmission replacement. Only six inches in front with the garage door closed. I used to get my Suburban into that garage, the neighbors would gather and watch!
Thanks, burble, burble, burble vrrrooooom it goes! And if I have my way, and the roads stay clear, and I do not even smell salt from miles away, this car will see use. But any hint of that nasty stuff, I will have to grin and bear it and await better conditions.
Now THAT'S a car right there...nice ride, bro.

@madmejicano That is why I got this '72 Vista Cruiser. I missed being able to drive my '70 version which succumbed to the Quebec Special (Road Salt)

Is the exhaust powder coated or painted?

@spikedpunk OH YEAH, jabbing the gas pedal usually helps the priming! Gotta love it, that beautiful car started perfectly, it liked your foot action.
