  • ReVolting, hypocritical, American rubbish. Why does the world tolerate these maniacs. An electric car was viable at least 20 years ago, but big oil didn't allow it. Now big oil is bankrolling EV's for the developed world while the American war machine has secured generations of oil in the middle east and Libya for developing markets in China, India et al which will almost exclusively rely on the "dirty" internal combustion engine.

  • I think Governments should mandate that all new cars be electric starting tomorrow. And the electricity be 100% renewable. It can be done. The definition of new needs to be all cars to be designed, produced, decided and marketed upon starting now.

  • Oil Maintenance reminder on speedometer should be made law.

  • Wow. Ignorance piled on top of more ignorance designed for a gullible audience. No one killed the electric car; lack of the right technology with the ability to bring it to market cheaply are the hurdles for electric cars. The same can be said for flying cars. Even today electric cars are still lacking what it will take to unseat the combustion based vehicle. We really need to work on our education system here in America.

  • @MrHamlet Yet you show so much ignorance and gullibility with your comment.

Maybe you missed the documentary "Who killed the electric car" but it explains very well that it wsnt killed for any good reason.

They made the cars disappear, battery tech was sold to oil companies, people couldnt simply by the cars "as is", they made the tech disappear and research halted. The tech was there for people, and enough to make it profitable but certain interests didnt want that.

  • @waltermh111 Yes I saw that other work of fiction lacking any real science or facts. What battery tech did the oil companies buy? If it didn’t come to fruition then likely it was crap. Anyone w/chemistry or EE background or who has built an electric car will disagree with you. The tech available is expensive in both in environmental resources & money. It is has a short life & unable to really provide what is needed to make a good electric car. Look how much trouble the industry has & still has.

  • @MrHamlet You obviously know nothing if you dont even know what tech the industry bought that had come to fruition.

Still, L-Ion is becoming a fav of the moment anyway til new tech being developed comes into its own.

As for the tech, I live in austin which has a lively EV community as well as others from the state.

NO, they wont all disagree with me, and car companies arent having the problems you imagine.

  • @waltermh111 I know nothing? Sure you want to go there? You have no clue who I am or my extensive EE background & work on low power solutions. I work a lot in Austin w/your tech industry to solve their problems on power solutions. Austin is flat. Running EVs on grades burns brushes, coils, & more importantly, batteries. We are in the infancy of power storage & 10-15 yrs of hard research may get us somewhere. There is no conspiracy. Only a lack of a real education in science & math in America.

  • @MrHamlet Even today I can guarantee the tech is here.

Many EV enthusiasts are driving around electric cars for daily tasks and loving them.

Even a few years ago they had the milage to satisfy 90% of people, plug-ins would have been great by now and plenty of people would buy them.

90% of people in the US dont go more than 100 miles a day. Thats easy to put in a car priced to sell big.

Tesla is going big though, all electric and high milage, but even they are doing well, the time is now.

  • @waltermh111 If you could you would be rich. I had 3 EVs 2 of which I built. Tesla is not going big they are in a lot of financial trouble. I’m ignorant? Ok lets talk about batteries & flush out who the real moron is. Would love to hear your theories on electrochemical polymers & anode break down. Oh & if you have all the answers, Bill Gates & the world would sure like to hear from you news.cnet.com/8301-11128_3-57328879-54/bill-gates-calls-for-massive-increase-in-energy-research

  • @MrHamlet By the way, the only way to get things down in price is economics of scale, which means investment and not fear of the future. Many companies from Toyota and Tesla are jumping on board, the time is now, you can live in the last generation, but we are in the now.

  • @waltermh111 I don't disagree on economics which is why gas based vehicles rule the day. Problem is that EVs use lots of REMs. Know what that is without Googling it? Limited supply, expensive in every way, & destructive. That is why gas vehicles are significantly better in every way. Gallon of gas has significanty more energy than any battery on the planet & has significantly less impact on the environment. EV use significantly more material, weigh more, & are significantly more dangerous.

  • @MrHamlet Your thanksgiving comment is unappreciated. We dont have to act like we are civil when you dont have a clue about what you say

    1) I wouldnt be "rich" if I could. I dont want to be a sociopath. I care about others. I want to live well, but Rich is excessive

    2) Tesla is fine. Selling what they make, going slow. The credit crisis did affect them, but they got help. They are actually on schedule for their Model S so far. We will see, but its not due to their EVs that they hit any troubles

  • @waltermh111 Fine be an uncivil Neanderthal. It is painfully obvious how wrapped up in fairytale ideals you are. As a Tesla stock holder on & off since they went IPO & as one of the first people in line for the Tesla S I am very well versed in their business & can tell you that they have been in financial trouble for a long time long before the credit crisis. The huge injection of cash courtesy of the tax payers hasn’t helped all that much. Learn to use Google Finance.

    3) EVs dont really have to be alot heavier. The Tesla Roadster weighs below average, Prius just above avg for similar car size.

I looked it up, seems avg car is from 4000-5500 pounds for midsize

Model S, the family Car from Tesla weighs just under 4k and goes over 200 miles, what 90% of people need.

With the largest battery they offer it will go much further and still be in line with higher weight midsize cars.

  • @waltermh111 Seriously you’re quoting yahoo answers & expect me to take you seriously? Ok I think I am done with your trolling. I met with Tesla engineers last weekend & talked about the S which I have a reservation for. The S will weigh more than 4k & they had to use a lot of expensive materials like aluminum & carbon fiber to keep it THAT light. Comparable sedan is on average 1500lbs less with STEEL! The roadster is almost a 1k lbs MORE than its Lotus counterpart! Go do some reading.

  • @MrHamlet Expense is irrelevent and battery tech still moves forward with new ways to make batteries coming about.

We have enough of what we need to make the EVs we need and they will evolve as the years pass. Worrying about current limitations would have kept us in the stone age.

The tech is here and you cant stop it.

Also I dont even get your line that oil has more energy than a battery. You think batteries create energy? lol

Wow, No, batteries are only storage, its apples and oranges.

  • @waltermh111 Battery tech is still in the dark ages & expense in $ & to the environment is not irrelevant. I am not trying to stop technology you fool I am saying that it isn’t where it needs to be & that you don’t understand it at all. I am not surprised you don’t understand my comment on oil & battery potential energy. Gsus dude didn’t you pay attention in high school science? Unbelievable! Because of morons like you we are doomed as a nation. Go look up James Joule & William Rankine.

  • @MrHamlet Here in the UK, an electric car is a no-brainer IF you have a brain.

No road tax. Dirt cheap servicing due to lack of consumables. The uk's price of £1.30 for a litre of "gas" to travel 10 miles at 45.5 UKmpg makes the Nissan leaf, (accomplished 130mile range) the cheapest car to own and run on the road, bar none.

ok, If you excuse a three wheeled collectors bubble car with a motorbike engine.

Myself, I'd like not to "go fill it up", no clutches or gearboxes as sheer luxury.

  • @waltermh111 BTW - Happy Thanksgiving!

  • Saw this in Chicago yesterday ... GET OUT TO SEE THIS MOVIE AND HELP SPREAD THE WORD!

  • I want one!

  • Thank you for posting this up. Looking forward to seeing this. It's great to see the electric cars being produced for the public. I would like to see more futuristic design looking concept cars in mass production as well. Futuristic drive train(EV's) coupled with futuristic look and body shape/design. See 2003 Honda IMAS.

  • Thanks so much for sharing! Great movie!

  • I have big plans for solar-powered electric cars! I'm going to see this with my brother in DC next month. I hope it will give us even more ideas to build off of and educate us about the industry.

  • Bravo for this film! I loved WHO KILLED THE ELECTRIC CAR, but it made me sad as well, and more than a little angry. Let's not sit on our butts and wait to be a consumer for someone else!

Instead, lets get out there and CREATE the future!

If you have an EV - drive it to go see this film! Bring your friends! Start an EV club!

Grab a wrench, a book, and start doing something!

Chesea Sexton and Reverend Gadget would want you to!

  • WOOHOOOO!

  • Forget about where its being screened, the big question is when is it gonna be available to watch online so that people can be educated on the matter?

Surely this isn't for entertainment, its more of an important message that needs to be drilled into peoples heads so that peoples attitudes will change.

  • When will this be screened in Ireland? WHEN WILL THIS BE SCREENED IN IRELAND?!!!!

  • Actually, the movie is showing in Katy, west of Houston. Bizarre place and theater to show the movie. Somehow it does not all fit.

  • I can't wait to see the movie. Unfortunately, it appears to be showing in a restaurant theatre in far west Houston or even in Katy.
