@castro24g some grasshoppers (not too distantly related from these guys... kind of) do make a poisonous spittle, but not of them are even close to deadly to humans. in fact, just recently i tried tasted some grasshopper "tobacco juice"... it was kind of nasty tasting but i suffered no ill affects.
@gimaca damn, i hope you are joking. these things are absolutely not poisonous. any entomology book or website will tell you that. it is ignorant ppl like you that mess things up for the world. thanks, asshole :)
i used to them come out after heavy rains , but with what all these earth man made changes , t i dont see them anymore , in southern california, irene
no, they are crickets. no crickets can sting. some do have a long "thorn" on their butt, but that is only used to lay eggs. at most, nino de la tierra can give a small bite, much less damaging than a mouse bite
@cacoseraph have you studied about them.. cause no way in hell is that a damn cricket man.. thats an el nino de la tierra. it look like it and its very deadly.. again man.. i never wanna get stung by them so are you sure that the el ninos are that deadly?
@LilSpinna97 yes, i studied them enough to be sure they are not capable of giving a venomous bite or sting. they are in their own family, but related to crickets :)
@KawaiiKemonomimi not so very useful as feeders, no. my bug group and i want to get breeding them down and have a few species to offer to the hobby as captive breds. we know of several interesting colorations and even an area where we can find specimens almost as big as my thumb! (i'm a 6'2"/1.9m guy, btw!)
@Shyguyx12 the more i am looking into them and watching the ones i have, the more i am getting into them! i have some really cute pretty tiny ones i need to make a video of, too
Poor little guy, despite it's creepy appearence it's a living creature trying too survive.
