This game is amazing in multiplayer, the only bad thing that i have to say is that it takes AGES to get to level 40 and unlock the weapon packs for the good planes
Unlocking kick-ass planes as you go is a lot of fun. And, the assistance off mode is cool to mess around with in free flight to pull off some extreme airshow maneuvers. I'd say that the game is a 4/5, but a must buy for people that are looking for what this game has to offer.
If you're a flight simulator buff (like me) you'll be a little disappointed that more in depth flight characteristics weren't included, and that in order to achieve the highest levels of maneuverability you have to exit to an extreme third person view. In my opinion, that should have been optional. However, if you're into modern combat aircraft, and want a fun fast paced jet fighter game for the PC, H.A.W.X delivers.
here is my review of the game. terrible AI i beat this crap on elite my first time in about 6 hours. its boring the story sucks, all missions are about the same, terrible imitation of ace combat, ers and offmode are for nubs and takes the fun out of the game. the gameplay is bad all planes feel the same 1 out of 100. if you wanna play it RENT IT DO NOT BUY IT or just play the demo cuz all 19 missions are about the same and if you wana play the demo on hard play up side down harder than elite.

ow those great games of the end '80 and '90's. You got those 'terrible' graphics but a realistic load and also a realistic strike. Just one or two targets in one AA / SAM field and a few fighters. You simply can't afford to miss to target. I can remember Jetfighter , F19 and much much later Silent Thunder (about the A10). Something that is called 'realitory strike' it was begin '90 about the F-35 that looked like the later GIJoe's fighter and the F22 in child status.
yeah - it is all about the fast packed action nowadays not about the 'feel' to be there. There are hardly take offs and landings - and who can afford to loose 30 Su-27's per mission ? In some countries it is the whole fleet. Any idea how must a Su-27 cost??? It is not only HawX there are a few more ofcourse - but this is to me the same arcade version with a few new features that you play in the gameshall in the 80's - with exception that the only plane available was the F-14.

The only good thing about HAWX is the graphics period. If you have played AC series games and Over G you would know what Lekushg is trying to say, the gameplay and realism are very much lacking, hopefully they will do better with HAWX 2
if you didnt here gtstang that what the other reviews were, an official from Ubisoft did declare that AC is one of the best air simulation game. They used the same ideas that AC used to make HAWX with an addition of new features. HAWX main intention was to get people going on air combat games because the idea of it is declining. Assistance mode is what is interesting about HAWX, it allows you to perform realistic manuevers an F-22 would have. Overall HAWX is on the same level with AC.
The Assist. ON feels like you are operating a Radio Controlled plane at the local park. I understand they are trying to introduce something new to Air Simulation genre but this game is nowhere near SIM its closer to ARCADE.
not to mention, AC didnt do so well in some of the titles. AC 6 was terrible. The only thing that got AC all around the market was because of their story about Belkan war which was featured in AC 4/5 and Zero. It was the Belkan series that put an awestruck on the gameplay story that made ppl want to play because of the excellent drawn out story board.
I dont have the time to play it as much as Lekushg but I understand what he is saying about the A.I. it is too easy, you dont even need CHAFF/FLARE just pull a hard G turn and bingo you dodge the missile. Theres no MidAir Refuel no Carrier Landing not even runway landing/takeoff.

How is HAWX more realistic when the Afterburners dont even shut during your entire flight, you shoot the SAME exact missiles over and over, yeah the graphics are awesome and more aircraft but it is way too easy and boring even Over G is better.

The demo was pretty cool. Looks great. I DESPISE the 3rd person view in assistance off mode... I wish I could have full control of my aircraft, while in the cockpit. They should at least have that option for us veteran flight combat gamers. -_-
you do have full control over your aircraft in 1st person. its just a little more complicated too pull the moves off.. the voice commands are off the hook!
Nope. Try it again. You can move in 360º yes. But you have the computer keeping you from flying it the way you want. In other words, fly in the cockpit, and try to stall. Not possible. The computer takes over, and raises your speed. Not being able to slow down enough to cause a stall, and other such things, keep you from moving your aircraft the way you want it. Thus, you don't have "complete" control over it.
actually you can but you have too turn the assistance off in the pre-game screen.. which gives you complete control over your aircraft.. if you dont keep a steady press on the right trigger then you will stall out. even in assistance on mode in game. but none the less it is easier too doo manuevers when assistance is off in game either way.. so yea i guess your right.. lol .

Honestly guys not that i'm also an AC vet but i really didn't got the feel of that "assistant" thing... i still do enjoy a good Dogfight.
AC's a legend & this game is just a starter.

The demo was pretty cool. Looks great. I DESPISE the 3rd person view in assistance off mode... I wish I could have full control of my aircraft, while in the cockpit. They should at least have that option for us veteran flight combat gamers. -_-

you do have full control over your aircraft in 1st person. its just a little more complicated too pull the moves off.. the voice commands are off the hook!

Nope. Try it again. You can move in 360º yes. But you have the computer keeping you from flying it the way you want. In other words, fly in the cockpit, and try to stall. Not possible. The computer takes over, and raises your speed. Not being able to slow down enough to cause a stall, and other such things, keep you from moving your aircraft the way you want it. Thus, you don't have "complete" control over it.

actually you can but you have too turn the assistance off in the pre-game screen.. which gives you complete control over your aircraft.. if you dont keep a steady press on the right trigger then you will stall out. even in assistance on mode in game. but none the less it is easier too doo manuevers when assistance is off in game either way.. so yea i guess your right.. lol .
