cool video. my dad had a 68 442, white w/black top and interior. if i ever build another GM muscle car it will be an Olds. my uncle had a 69 road runner which is why i am into mopars now. have a 74 duster i'm building now. are you still in vegas? i have been since 1981.
I moved out of Boulder City in 1980 and moved to Spokane Washington. Been there ever since. I'm currently building a clone of my old 442 in this video, only I'm painting it black and gold like I did shortly after I filmed this video. I'm having a blast.
I like the new music to this video. It sounds very poignant and melancholy. Perfect. You may have posted the title to this song earlier, but I missed it. What is the name of this track?
I don't remember the track name. I picked it because it was the right length. I prefer the other 70's rock songs I had before. But I understand what you are saying about this track.
I found the guy who now owns my old 442 from the video. I'm happy to announce that it is looking great and the car is well taken care of and loved. The 340 Duster is still not accounted for.
I loved this car so much. I wish I never sold it. I've decided to buy another one. If anybody knows of a project 1968 442 or Cutlass, please let me know.
Mopar offered, maybe still does, a "Hemi grind" cam for the 'A' blocks. It has the same lift ratio and duration as a big block Hemi cam. Sorry if I comfused you.
Man, my dad had a 73 340 4 speed with a sun roof, red with white 340 stripe, white buskets and tons of more options. We would love to have it back but last time he saw it, it was all messed up in oxen hill md and ready to race but now we have a 73 340 that were restoring and a 74 gold duster with a 383 out of a 69 charger.
Great vid. I am building a 73 340 4spd duster and was wondering if you have any still shots of the duster. It looks to have the DC rear spoiler and a hood scoop on it. If you have any pics. Could I get you to Email them to me please?
I sure hope they survived. That 442 was my very first car. I'd love to find it. I sold it around 1983 in Spokane Washington for $1,200.00! It has a factory Hurst 4-speed. I had painted it a beautiful Black with gold stripes on the bottom. I'm not sure but I think the buyer was from Montana.
I found my old 442, Yes it survived and I drove it last weekend. I posted a video of it so check my other videos to see it 30 years later and watch it to the end to see a burn out.
Did you have Foreigner music on this? I guess they muted it and you had to replace the music? Happens to my videos all the time. Looks like the same rims are on the car now?
Yes, they made me change the music. The foreigner songs really put you in the 70's mood of the video. The original rims on the 442 where the super rare keystone aluminum rogues. Not the normal keystones classics you see. Darren now has slot mags on it. I just put together a set of Keystone rogues for my next 68 442.
name of this song please ?? its incredible

Hi, I don't remember the name of this song. I kind of picked it randomly because youtube took the audio off the original video.

Thanks for sharing; reminds me of my own 70's experience. I had a '71 Cutlass(still have it) and my GF had a '76 Duster.

I do have some great photos of the duster from all sides. I need your email address to send them to you.

Sorry for the poor quality. It was shot on an old 8 mm brownie and played on a projector and video taped.

Do you think these cars exist today? Do you know if the 442 survived?

Which one was faster?
vistacruiser67 4 years ago
The Duster was faster than the 442. The 340 had a Hemi cam and a Holly single plane with a 750 cfm carb. Red line was 6500 RPM.
90mph in 2nd. Could spin the tires to 60.
flashivley 3 years ago
I don't think the cam in the Hemi was the same as the one in the 340...big block vs small block ya know.
gumper1986 3 years ago
I beg to differ Robert. The 442 was faster.
