  • Hello, Do you recommend this amp to play clasic rock??

AC/DC Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, even something heavy rock like Judas Priest, etc?????

    Thanks!!!

  • @dannyrockguitaroz simply said, this amp will play EVERYTHING any genre and your good to go

  • Have you ever tried the Egnater TM thru a Marshall 1960 cab? Opinion? . . . thx!

  • @joelg125

Hello, no I have not. The only Marshall I've played it thru is an MF280 straight cab (70 watt Vintage 30's). 1960's are not my preferred cab but, with the global presence and density controls you can "tune" the head to whatever your is cab by adding or subtracting what's needed.

  • Yes, the Rebel 20, Tweaker, Renegade, Rebel 30, Tourmaster, all made in China. The bigger Egnaters, the Renegade and Tourmaster are noisy on the gain side. The torroidal power tranny is supposed to make for a quieter power section, but I found it to be the opposite. Retuned mine and got a super clean used Mesa MkIV short head

  • @GoldtopSam

I find that most high gain amps are noisy but, the better quality ones are on the acceptable side. The Tourmaster's fine. I like the Rebel 30 and Renegade quite a bit as well. Tone is tone regardless of where it's made.

  • @GoldtopSam That's funny, I played a Mark IV head this weekend and found it very noisy.

  • What do you think of the Cab?

  • Love the quicksand Jesus playing, classic song, and wonderful sounding amp, I really want one of these!

  • @jemdave13 Thanks for the compliment! Nice amp for the money for sure!

  • I'm really thinking about getting one of these amp heads. My band is doing stuff along the lines of ....3DoorsDown to ThreeDaysGrace and Shinedown. I was just wondering if you think this amp is heavy enough sounding to suit my needs. Just wanting your opinion after hearing your video.

This amp is just so affordable. Thanks

This amp is just so affordable. Thanks

  • @aboveunow Sure is heavy enough for what you describe.

  • @aboveunow i play in a post hardcore/metal core/ pop punk band and i dont use any distortion pedals i just use the overdrive channels and i have plenty of gain for my sound and i get compliments all the time and the clean is amazing i would recommend it to you

  • @elvandal22 Thanks for the reply! Thanks for the styles comparison too. I have played the Egnater Renegade but not the Tourmaster. I owned a Mesa RoadKing 2 head and got spoiled on the heavy bottom end that Mesa is known for. How is the bottom end of the Tourmaster? Sorry I just love to have that option of bigtime bass. thanks

  • @aboveunow no problem its good the tour master has a global density knob which is a bass enhancer as well as the regular bass eq on each channel so im sure you can get that low end tone that you like i bought mine at guitar center if you ever want to try it out in person its very versital thats why i like it so much

  • @elvandal22

Yep, has density and presence but, I use those controls to tune the head to the cab that I happen to be using at the moment. Round sounding bass, more mesa ish than marshall ish at least as far as my Tourmaster is concerned.

  • @aboveunow

I've owned a Road King (Series I) Head before and fell I can get pretty similar low end out of the Tourmaster, not the same but, you can get your jeans to flap if you really want to :)

  • @elvandal22

I only use some effects in the loop for any of my channel switching amps. I use no drive pedals. If I needed a boost pedal to get my sound I wouldn't bother to buy the amp if it's a channel switcher (3 or 4 channel amps). Too much gain on tap for channel 4 on this amp.

  • 4:53-5:16: Great song. 8^D

    Awesome playing by the way.

  • @DimebagOHammet Orion rules! Thanks for the compliment!

  • @DimebagOHammet Thanks!

  • i really like your amp! these are stock tubes?

  • @westdiver03 These are the stock tubes.

  • That wasn't a fart at 5:47. It's clearly the sound of the pickup selection. Same as the sound at 6:01. Ya dillholes...

  • This amp has A really great sound. The other big amp makers need to pay close attention to these egnater amps.

  • Has anyone compared this with the Renegade model? I like the Renegade tone but a hi-gain channel would be nice. Thanks!

  • @Daedalus5150 I'd say the Tourmaster vs. the Renegade are equal in terms of good useable tone but, the Renegade would be a little simpler to dial in/has two channels. The Tourmaster would have the most gain but, the Renegade is not slouch in the gain department either.

  • Does it have Silent Record mode as well?

  • I haven't tried seeing if the compensated record out works while the amp is in standby. That would be one way for it to be silent. I'm not sure though.

  • good one @ 5:47

  • It's called switching from the bridge pickup to the neck pickup for a smoother tone. Trust me, I'm man enough to admit if I let one fly but, didn't happen in this vid.

  • dude. i think you let one rip @ 5:47, but I could be wrong. lol

  • lol, that;s the sound of my pickup selector switch

  • LOL!!!!

  • cool powerslave , great sounds from this amp

  • hey what song is that ur playing at 4:51 ? cause i heard it somewhere else on youtube and was wondering what it was.

  • Hi, it is Metallica's Orion from their Master of Puppets CD. One of the best metal riffs ever recorded in my opinion.

  • Hey Ivan, I got one man, Sounds wicked

World class tones in there for sure!

    Nice metal riffs man!

    Rockon

  • Cool man! Enjoy it!

  • Thank you for this awsome clean demo!

Sounds great!!! The guitarworld demo has the clean sounding like shit....

You should take over from Paul lol

This whole demo sounds wicked good and you didnt clip the camcorder recording like all the other home idiots lol

You just answered all my tone questions for this amp ;)

  • Thank you for the kudos Axeman2006! Much appreciated :)

  • I just bought one also!

Blew me and my buddy away all Friday night long. Unbelievable variance of tones. Super powerfull also, even on 10 watts! A Fender strat through this is pure heaven.....Thanks Bruce Egnater ;)

Review on HC soon to follow.

  • with the power grid on like the lowest level, can u play it in ur bedroom?

  • i want to know the same question........... Like i know you can play in your bedroom at any volume... BUT does it still have the cab tone when you back off the power grid..???

  • I don't use the power grid. I have them set full on and have the channel volumes as low as I can get away with and the master and high as I can get away with. I like it better than using the power grid set low. If you really need the volume REALLY LOW though, the power grid does give you at maybe 85% of the cranked full on tone so it does work.

  • Yes, you can. Best thing to do is have the individual channel volumes low and the master as high as you can get away with.

  • I can hear the PRS sound. It's that plinky, pingy thing that all PRS's have when you play them clean.

  • Sounds pretty good, but I heard that the Tourmaster stuff is made in China NOT Michigan. Is this true?

  • Yes, it is.

  • If it was made with the USA Egnater stuff it'd cost over $3K easy instead of $1,500 or so. My home theater receiver is made in China and so are most people's. No big deal.

  • Comment removed

  • @f2kflyer does it matter?

  • @soundboy3 I suppose it doesn't. In fact, most people I've spoken to say the Guitar Center Egnater line is rock solid.

  • @f2kflyer might be why they break down so much

  • the leads at 6:30 are killer man.. keep it up

  • Thanks!

  • would you recommend the combo version of this? i have prs mccarty, hows it do overall? and is it ok to gig with a lot,,, like is it road worthy? nice playing man too

  • Thank you for the compliment. I like the combo version's tone as well. I think the Elite 80's are good sounding speakers. All I can say is that I haven't had any issues with my Tourmaster.

  • Great Demo man,Love your rig...BTW not that sloppy at all.

  • One problem with the combo (IMHO) is that it weighs 95 pounds, but that's just me...

  • The one and only negative for Egnater stuff is weight. The head is over 60 pounds!

  • I'm OK with a heavy head. The issue for me is when I'm carrying a 95 pound box that keeps banging into my leg. My amp right now weighs 55, and that's bad enough. On the plus side, more weight = sturdier.

  • yeah. there pretty heavey. i just bought one. but at least its not 30 pounds of computer chips right?

  • What tubes are in the power section????

  • EL34's

  • isn't it 5881's??

  • Thats what I thought..

  • Correction guys... mine has a quartet of Grove Tubes 6L6B power tubes and Groove Tubes ECC83S preamp tubes. I think the later ones come with 5881's and have a "tighter" response. I'm more Mesa than I am Marshall so I prefer the original tube compliment. 5881's are very similar to 6L6's though.

  • Ahh,I got ya good,I gig with my Recto, and have two Carvin Nomad50s in stereo I use for practice and futzin around my house.I almost went with the Egnater 20's for my house but for the money and what im doing the Carvins work just fine.I think this is there best and best priced rig Egnater makes..I may buy one in the future but they will probably have this in a 20,40,60 watt combo soon, lol, thee guys are always on the go thats for sure.

  • Actually the 5881 tube is the military version of the 6L6. The 5881 is a little bit more grainy and the 6L6 is brighter. If I'm right, the Tourmaster is delivered with a quartet of 6L6 you can shift with 6550 and there's a switch to automatically bias the amp. Sorry if my english isn't that right.

  • English is fine bro,Very cool Amp,and I did not know that about the 5881 tubes.thanx for the info..

  • why is the second channel so gritty? its supposed to soundlike a marshall plexi ish sound. the first is the realy egnater boutique sound

  • I set it how I wanted it to sound. The second channel is very vesatile.

  • What guitar are you playing?

  • PRS CURO24 (Indian Rosewood NECK)

  • i read somewhere in a review (maybe even on youtube) from a quote from Bruce Egnater that 'if the Tourmaster wasn't assembled in China, it would be running at a price of around $5000!' Makes you wonder why you wouldnt run down and buy one before he does start assembling them in the US and selling them at boutique prices.

  • he won't do that because guitar center basically commissioned him to make this amp. they came to him with an idea and he basically just made it for them. of course he gets money but he's not going to make it here at his shop in detroit.

  • METALLICA! \m/

  • Correction: "...and as of now.."

  • when i went down to guitarcenter to pick up some new Gibson Dirty Fingers Pickups, i stumbled upon the amp because it caught my eye and thought it was interesting. i honestly fell in love with it right away. for me, it didnt take long to find a great tone in all of the settings. i was so excited, i spent almost an hour playing it, and as of know, im saving up for one.

  • Buy it new from their website. Don't get one from the shop. TRUST ME.

  • why? why cant i just get one from guitar center?

  • because guitar center will try to give you a used 1

  • no you should buy one from the store so that way you know what you're getting and you know what the sound is. even though bruce and his guys do quality control on the amps coming from china, they still are not always really good. so either keep buying them online till you get a good one or just look through the ones in the store and find the one you like and buy it

  • same thing goes for any guitar, I have a custom shop les paul, and even that took a while to find just the right one

  • ???

  • as in, each guitar, no matter where it is made, is a little different, no matter the quality, so you should always buy in the store so you can find the guitar that sounds just right. Basically the exact same thing you said about the amp in terms of guitars

  • eh i now have TWO mark iv's! i wont be checking out any new amps for awhile..

  • i heard the amp is very noisy.

  • Depends on the guitar you plug into it. Some guitars are better shielded than others and hum is almost non existant. Other guitars make you wish you had a noise gate. This amp is no less or more noisy than other high gain tube amps on the market though.

  • I like how you played Orion

  • Thank you, I think it's one of the heaviest/best/coolest chord progressions ever recorded!

  • yoyoyoyo cool demo, i wanted to like this amp so bad when i tried it but i didnt dig it too much. maybe you dialed it in better or something.

  • Dude....Go check this amp out again....just bought one. Each channel is awesome....it takes some tweaking to find your sound. I primarly play on channel 3 which is more of like an ACDC type sound....Channel 4 I can play some hardcore thrash riffs....and kick ass solos

    It awesome

  • First time I played thru a Tourmaster at Guitar Center I thought it was just average in tone. Each time I played it again it grew on me more. Sometimes I go to GC these days and try out a guitar and use a Tourmaster 2X12 combo and the GC employees mention that I'm the only one that can get a good sound out of the amp. You have to spend time twisting those knobs to get the most out of this amp but, start with all the knobs set half way.

  • Great review. I'm quite interested in this amp and since a PRS is my main guitar, this was very beneficial. Nice playing too!

  • Thank you very much!

  • I have to ask, how does this work on high volumes? lets say I were to play for an arena, could it hold up? I love what I heard and saw in and out so far but the only bad things I've heard about this thing were when it was set at high volumes .. anyone got some info it would be much appriciated

  • Other amps are louder when cranked but, I think it holds together tonally at loud volumes just fine. If you're looking for max volume, other amps may do that better. Master half way up will get every soundguy I know of to get you to turn down.

  • 2:40 the call of ktulu right?? XD

    great amp bro..

  • What's up dude. No it's not Call of Ktulu, some clean arpegiation thing I always play.

  • I don't understand this comment? This is one of the better demos of this amp I've seen on here...Robo is a pretty decent player too... :-/

  • Thanks, mine is a Vintage Yellow Custom 24 Artist Package that they made for a limited time with an all rosewood neck.

  • You said that you play on a PRS guitar, wich one exactly? Cause I own a Custom 24 and this amp interest me. Nice video by the way, PRS are the best!

  • Nice playing, nice amp.

  • wife's on the way home...crank it while you can... I know how that feels. haha

  • Hi Ivan from the forums :-)
