This is definitely a demo version. I've listened to all of his songs countless times and I can definitely tell that this is different from Earth Song. If you listen to this and then Earth Song you'll tell the difference. Or even just read the Earth Song Lyrics when you're listening to this. You'll tell the difference.

@soxgirl2005 it is possible they used this version for the film. there have apparently been other canned songs (notably a demo version used of 'billie jean') used in the film. it would not be surprising if this was one they used, as most people are not aware of this version (which is off the DAT tapes), and it would be easy to think the singing was live. it's already been established by those at the different venues (and AEG executives) that he was not there a lot of the time, so...

@babe285 this is definitely one of michael's most important messages... however, marvin gaye released the album 'what's going on' in 1971. this album was quite prophetic, with songs such as 'mercy mercy me (the ecology)'. there was also 'the secret life of plants' in 1979 by STEVIE WONDER. michael did claim both artists to be quite influential in the role he played with his messages.
