I've got a hamster, a syrian or cyrian i dunno.. and her names Argos after the store.. she's very very friendly and usually is quite happy to lay on her back, its prefrence, they all have a temprement and personality thats completly unique, but its good to get a hamster used to your hands from a young age and so they know who they can trust, this hamsters still young in this video and probebly feels quite scared. it'll learn.

He'll just lay the chilling. Babies need more time to develop a sense of touch and what to trust. It's not abuse at all.

@ZeldaofHyrule777 Actually hamsters don't mind it too much as long as they trust you, I owned a black bear hamster that would actually sleep in my hand while on his back :) Not all hamsters are comfortable like that though, this one clearly wasn't, you just have to know your hamster and make sure your hamster trusts you.

Baby hammies cry. Its natural. Yes, they don't like to be on their back as it is a sign of submission to them and they will complain ( you can see this when to hammies play fight / fight). However, It is not harming it. You have to flip your hammy to determine its gender at that age. Which I have done with each of my litters. All the babies turned out happy and healthy. As long as you don't harass your pet by doing it over and over again for kicks, its not abuse.

For everyone that thinks that this is animal abuse, it is not. Dwarf hamsters, especially babies, tend to make this sound a lot. Mostly when they are startled or in the presence of another hamster that is not familiar. I have had over 12 dwarfs throughout my life. They are my favorite animals. This sound is not uncommon. Trust me! I've made some posts on sites where people were truly abusing animals, but this is definitely not one of those clips. I promise:)
