Honestly if you compare them the 4g is obviously the more advanced device. It also looks much better then the 3g. In my opinion the 3g looks very stubby and fat. its much too squished. The 4g is very elegant and fits in a pocket easily. The other thing is that the 16gb 4g is the same price ($200) as a 8gb 3g. Clearly the 4g is better.

Who cares which is better now? They're both iPods...they both allow you to listen to music, watch photos and movies. They're both portable.

If you were to order an 8gb third gen online, it'd be about $190-$200 if you got it new, but with the fourth gen, if you were to get it 8gb online, it's only about $150. also, the vertical slit screen was an even bigger mistake, and thats why they made this one has the bottom split a little....
