Apology accepted, but even though you are paying attention other motorists may not be. All it takes is a car to back out of a driveway or a deer to run out into the road. When that happens at 180 mph you are hamburger meat. Not to mention that a lot of people have young children living in houses along most roads. You put them in danger too. There isn't such a thing as paying attention and "respecting other motorists" at those speeds. Keep it on the track, that way everyone stays safe.

If any number of those things catch you off guard... you aren't paying attention. When you ride a motorcycle it's your duty to predict every out come and be prepared for the worst. Always scanning ahead, and riding within your limits. If you feel in control at 180 miles per hour, what would stop you from doing so? I do not own a car, I strictly ride my bike. I don't preform maneuvers that make me uncomfortable. Maybe it's all about self control... Hmmmm I'm thinking now.

Nice video. I agree that I doubt any of the fly by's were 180, but the R1 can do 180. Top speed is never recorded by spedo, they use GPS. The R6 can almost do 175.

Well, I got a new bike now so I don't have it anymore. I got my digital speedo to read 182, but I know they are WAY off at that speed, so I really don't know how fast it really was. It took a few minutes of wide open throttle before I let off. There is a stretsh of highway I found that is about 3 miles of straight, but I don't know how many times I could get away with that on a highway. LOL

i my heavily modded r6 trackbike will put 180 on the speedo(full tuck, throttle wide for about a 30 sec to get there though)

well if you work for yamaha then you should know that most speedos are as much as 10-15% out. realisticly, an r1 can do about 175mph.
