Okay obviously the ending was bullshit tony getting shot and the screen going black and this POV thing and also CHASE saying he wont give us a definate ending we should make our own opinions of what happened, surely he must know that most of fucking ppl watching didnt go to directing school we're not fucking steven spielberg or martin scorsese but there is no denying the fact the sopranos is the greatest v series of alltime.
It amazes me how many people disable the thumbs down feature, knowing their video sucks balls and that people would vote as such, and then upload the fucking thing anyway. BALLS
Good, I'm glad the scumbag got whacked in front of his asshole family....AJ was a fucking mopey ass loser and Meadow was a little smart ass CUNT....CARMELA was like the only person on that show who was halfway likeable.....and even she was remorseful that her comfy lifestyle came from a career of violent crime.....
It really seems like he got whacked. I dont have a strong opinion either way but I say if he wasnt whacked he was at least shot at/shot. He looks like hes reaching for a pistol in the last second or two.
does anyone know if there's a clip on youtube where all the docs sit at dinner, and Elliot leaks to everyone that Melfi is treating Tony? That's S6 P2
Tony does not die! Anyone with half a brain realizes that the ending meant Tony had to always be looking over his shoulder and at any sound such as an opening door. It was implying that a boss of a family lives in fear that at any moment he could be whacked or locked up. Sadly most people (mostly Americans) didn't quite get this.
@Jackal2286 No, Tony dies, Jackal. There was nothing to indicate that Tony was tense in that scene. During most of the bar activity, he's staring at the menu like it's the Bible. He's sitting in the middle of the restaurant, exposed. This is what fearless people do. He only looks up when his family enters. Then it goes to a POV shot of them coming inside. Except when Meadow enters, we don't see her, we see black. We hear nothing. This is because, from Tony's POV, he is in the abyss. Dead.
@crunkrocka so meadow is staring at her dad just gettin shot with a smile? naw dude, there been lots of rumours and interpretation about the finale but no one answered the most important question. who did it! i mean the war is settled, no real enemies left atm. i dont beliebe its just some dirtbag or someone from the past season who kills him.
@wcfinest Meadow was smiling before Tony is shot. Her smile happens before the ten seconds of black that indicate his death, so he's still alive when she smiles. As far as who did it -- It was the guy in the Members Only jacket that went to the bathroom. The most likely explanation as to why the hit happened has to do with the nature of Phil Leotardo's death. He was shot in front of his family, and had his head run over by an SUV. Tony was killed in front of his own family out of revenge.
all the would of have 2 done 2 make it good wus a couple gun sounds and medow and carmila screaming tony and daddy and all that and it woud of been ok but no just black
I thought this was a great ending. At first i hated it, and was personally expecting Tony to be killed, but was glad that i didnt have to see it and could make my own assumption. I do think tonys dead, if you look back on the series the biggest hint is when they talk about death and they say it all just goes black. We see the sopranos through the eyes of tony. The blackout ending is a huge hint that tony has been killed.
Chase made the show end like this to make people make their own assumptions about what happened. So obviously then people had to use their imagination, so they actually had to DO something, so they hated it.
Tell me something friend, what's the difference between this finale episode and Chase stopping the series at Season 5 or 4? There is no difference, because either way you get to use your imagination and imagine your own ending. This isn't artsy fartsy film class, this is real motherfucking life and I like my favorite movies and shows to give me some fucking closure.
you say it was bad ending? man i understand that only really few people got the idea form begining but yeah the point was pov scene. they show tony. then they show view that he sees from tony's eyes. then they show tony, then the view from his eyes
and at the end they show tony but the view from his eyes is black which means he doesnt see anything anymore. PERFECT just perfect ending of masterpiece. capish?
Silvio is alive, Paulie too, Bobby sadly not, Junior alive and in a home, AJ two clicks from being a hood and Tony continues on. Nothing happens but dinner.
David Chase leaving an opening for a movie or another go round with The Sopranos.
tony soprano was a selfish prick fuck.he deserved to die. u know how many people he killed. he even killed his own fuckin nephew. i would love to see him get clipped. its only right that mobsters like these die. so tony soprano did die it was the only right thing
@proudtobedesi mate i really actually agree tony soprano was a cunt he repeatedly cheating on his wife when she didnt deserve it , and yeah like u said when he killed christopher i actually hated tony and wanted him to die.
In the second, the same movie can be seen but it has a different storyline, his girl had been cheating and he offs her and the line is "merry christmas you filthy animal, and a happy new year"
This is Home Alone 1 where the pizza guy is scared into leaving when he thinks someone is shooting from inside the house. LOL i watched those 2 movies one too many times as a kid, I know....
the truth is nobody dies the only reason wy tony looks up before the black screen is because right before. meadow walks in to the restaurant wich makes him look up
at the end they all sit together and eat like a family
the way i see it is david chase is a brilliant man, he must have known what he was doing, and why would he want to piss off his audience? fuck i don't know
Like all the best art, I guess it's left to each individual interpretation. Personally, I think they left it wide open for a sequel of some sort, which would be cool.
Tony does die, if you look into it on the internet there's huge theories (Using POV and other media student rubbish haha) that prove he does die. I only recently got into the Sopranos, it was sad to see Tony "die" but it's the truth in my opinion and I guess I just have to live with that :P
@Meatlock I agree with you because there is no music at all when the final episode ends and the credit rolls; it's like his music was all over. In fact, it may have been that Carmella was killed as well; who knows, or those at the table...but I really do agree that it was lights out for T and when you hear that last bell sound (I was told that it was suppose to be interpreted as the sound after a bullet is fired (the ringing in the ears)...Spooky!
@Meatlock he doesn't die, the audience do. david chase did it so the audience felt like they had been whacked. you didn't expect to be cut out mid-scene did you? just like you wouldn't know if you were going to get whacked. annoying as it is for the audience, it's still pretty clever.
@Meatlock "rofl" thanks for your complete misunderstanding of my comment. at the time that was just one of my theories (one of which i don't believe anymore) but i never once thought that Chase saw the audience as a character in the story. Chase made it obvious during the last season through different characters, that "when death comes you probably won't know anything about it" which is easily plausible when you think that one minute we are sitting looking at tony, then a second later...nothing.
@Meatlock Tony did NOT die. when have we seen a hitman in this show sit down and order a drink in a public place before doing a hit moments later??? besides the fact it wouldn't happen like that in real life, i think this show's general audience should have enough evidence by this point to assume he survived this scene.
@bankNbakeGuy Okay this goes to you and all the other morons who didn't take the time to learn Chases style and don't bother seeing what's right in front of them.
Tony DID die, end.
As a matter of fact in an interview with David Chase he told the reporter than he did in fact (Tony) die at the end but HOPED the audience would be cleaver enough to work this out for themselves.
Remember the convosation with Bobby, the "Never hear it coming"
also look into the PoV he used for the final scene.
this is what pissed me off there was no ending to the show. only an assumption that the family were killed. it ended in a stupid shitty way like seinfeld or something. they couldve done better writing than that.unless they show it on film it is only assumption.
@salamonetalton Chase did this because he knew people would assume that. he made the final scene so intense (the guy coming in before AJ, the two black guys who walk in near the end) that the audience expected something bad to happen, and it worked. but the reason why he ended with the black screen and silence is because he wanted the audience to feel like they had just been whacked. we died, and tony carries on with his life.
@salamonetalton no, it was a good ending, because you end up WONDERING whats going to happen next, tony and his family have to spend the rest of their lifes wondering..
@salamonetalton That is the exact reaction I would expect from someone who most likely didnt really understand why it ended that way.. You had to have really watched the Sopranos to understand this ending..
@salamonetalton you do relize why it "ended" this way right? sex in the city didnt have a real ending... what happened to that..? give it another 2-3 years... ull see in theaters "Sopranos, the movie"
@salamonetalton The problem with killing Tony is that it really doesn't provide anything other than comfortable resolution. This ambiguous ending, with a lot of details(including the way the final scene is set up) pointing to Tony being dead("You probably never even hear it when it happens"), provides us with the uncertain feeling that people who live a life of crime live. We don't really know, and we shouldn't know. The story of the sopranos ends here, and it is a great one for that.
@salamonetalton It is not the ending that has the problem; it is you who took the entire run of the sopranos to realize it is not vulgar enough for your understanding. And then you got mad.
This is a beautiful ending, that is pretty unambiguous. The point is,the author didn't want to end by killing Tony, because he felt that it was stupid to follow someone and then desire for his blood. At the same time, he had to make a point about the pains and uncertainty of a life of crime.Hence, this ending
@salamonetalton no you friggen balloon head it wasnt an assumption that they were killed it shows that life goes on...but i do agree i would have liked to see a huge brawl between new york and jersey
@salamonetalton I don't get why people wanted a concrete ending. This way the show lives on forever with people theorizing what could have possibly happened. Also the suspense of not knowing what's going to happen, is exactly how Tony felt for 6 seasons, so we're left with that emotion as the credits rolled.
@salamonetalton hahaha dude so true these scumbags dragges us along and didnt wanna show end cause they said it would effect there opions on if crime pays or not total coward writing and ending complete joke
@salamonetalton@celtics8402 I guess the whole meaning of the show didn't really sink in to you guys then. The sopranos ending was amazingly brilliant. Sorry you weren't able to figure it out. It's sad that you have to see and be spoon fed everything in order for it's meaning and artistic value to make sense.
@kalloused LOVE how no explanation was given. It's almost like you were trying to sound intelligent, when really you're about as clueless as to what happened at the end as everyone else.
@SheehanAlan The ending of the show was meant to express that Tony would have to look over his shoulder for the rest of his life, anyone at anytime could be out to kill him or he could have no threat at all. a perfect stranger or those closest to him. At that time the guys at the bar,his son or even his daughter were there to kill him......or not at all. It shows the life a mob boss has to live, not knowing what if anything can happen and by who. Maybe that's too deep for you
@kalloused That's complete bullshit. Tony got killed. "It's all there" just like Chase said. It's amazing to me that people still don't understand that ending or the plot of the last season. Chase has practically confirmed his death but people still don't want to believe it. Chase planned this ending two years in advance and you think that he wanted people to know what they've always known - that mob bosses need to watch their backs?!
@kalloused So I guess that guy looking over at him, and his daughter not being able to make it into the seat next to him (thus putting herself in between tony and the gunmen) were added just to confuse us.
@salamonetalton you obv didnt pay attention to the show at all, the ending is an ending , tony dies , i didnt expect a huge dramatic demise on tony , now that woulda been cleche , the ending was perfect.
@salamonetalton actually the writing is very clever and admirable. The beauty with The Sopranos ending is that it is left for the individual to decide. I could argue that aliens were invading and cut the power and that's why the scene cut to black. You can't tell me wrong because there is no definitive ending.
yer, home alone 1 when the guy outside the door thinks hes gnna be shot and he lets the firecrackers off. and in home alone 2 also in the hotel room. same movie clip, 2 different movies
shot who the black guys who were right in front of him and his face had no look of fear or being ready to take action he was looking up no expression..remember when the black guys shot him the first time he got a scared look on his face and reacted very fast..so the guy in the bathroom was in his view if he came out so he coudnt have snuck up on him and tony would alwasy be on guard which he was so it wouldnt be that easy and they rarely if ever kill a guy with his family and kids there
No. It was definitely from Home Alone 2 like the guy said. The kid watched the video in the hotel room and later clowned around with the receptionist by using the same video. If it was in Home Alone 1 also, then they showed the same video in both movies.
I'm telling the truth it is from Home Alone 1 because on Home Alone 2 after the women dies he says Merry Christmas you filthy animal but on the 1st one he says keep the change you filthy animal like he said in the video you're watching.
Then forget what I said. I haven't seen the movies in years and the line just sounded very familiar. I never really noticed that they used almost identical lines in both movies, but I haven't seen the first one that many times. Cristmas is gone but happy new year.

@salamonetalton Chase did this because he knew people would assume that. he made the final scene so intense (the guy coming in before AJ, the two black guys who walk in near the end) that the audience expected something bad to happen, and it worked. but the reason why he ended with the black screen and silence is because he wanted the audience to feel like they had just been whacked. we died, and tony carries on with his life.
rwm89 1 year ago
@salamonetalton no, it was a good ending, because you end up WONDERING whats going to happen next, tony and his family have to spend the rest of their lifes wondering..
KurtMrsCobain 1 year ago
@salamonetalton That is the exact reaction I would expect from someone who most likely didnt really understand why it ended that way.. You had to have really watched the Sopranos to understand this ending..

@salamonetalton you do relize why it "ended" this way right? sex in the city didnt have a real ending... what happened to that..? give it another 2-3 years... ull see in theaters "Sopranos, the movie"
thisisritchey 1 year ago
@salamonetalton The problem with killing Tony is that it really doesn't provide anything other than comfortable resolution. This ambiguous ending, with a lot of details(including the way the final scene is set up) pointing to Tony being dead("You probably never even hear it when it happens"), provides us with the uncertain feeling that people who live a life of crime live. We don't really know, and we shouldn't know. The story of the sopranos ends here, and it is a great one for that.
skydark 1 year ago
@salamonetalton It is not the ending that has the problem; it is you who took the entire run of the sopranos to realize it is not vulgar enough for your understanding. And then you got mad.
This is a beautiful ending, that is pretty unambiguous. The point is,the author didn't want to end by killing Tony, because he felt that it was stupid to follow someone and then desire for his blood. At the same time, he had to make a point about the pains and uncertainty of a life of crime.Hence, this ending

@skydark You're not part of the production of The Sopranos. Shut the fuck up, Tony is dead. Deal with it bitch boy.

@ChronosLuminaire I wasn't bitchy, I was simply discussing it. You on the other hand, do nothing but deliver useless commentary.

@skydark Keep bitching faggot.

@salamonetalton no you friggen balloon head it wasnt an assumption that they were killed it shows that life goes on...but i do agree i would have liked to see a huge brawl between new york and jersey
Shujinkjoe 10 months ago
@salamonetalton I don't get why people wanted a concrete ending. This way the show lives on forever with people theorizing what could have possibly happened. Also the suspense of not knowing what's going to happen, is exactly how Tony felt for 6 seasons, so we're left with that emotion as the credits rolled.
xSayHiToTheBadGuyx 8 months ago
@salamonetalton hahaha dude so true these scumbags dragges us along and didnt wanna show end cause they said it would effect there opions on if crime pays or not total coward writing and ending complete joke
cottonalley 8 months ago
@salamonetalton @celtics8402 I guess the whole meaning of the show didn't really sink in to you guys then. The sopranos ending was amazingly brilliant. Sorry you weren't able to figure it out. It's sad that you have to see and be spoon fed everything in order for it's meaning and artistic value to make sense.
kalloused 6 months ago
@kalloused LOVE how no explanation was given. It's almost like you were trying to sound intelligent, when really you're about as clueless as to what happened at the end as everyone else.
SheehanAlan 6 months ago
@SheehanAlan The ending of the show was meant to express that Tony would have to look over his shoulder for the rest of his life, anyone at anytime could be out to kill him or he could have no threat at all. a perfect stranger or those closest to him. At that time the guys at the bar,his son or even his daughter were there to kill him......or not at all. It shows the life a mob boss has to live, not knowing what if anything can happen and by who. Maybe that's too deep for you
kalloused 6 months ago 2
@kalloused That's complete bullshit. Tony got killed. "It's all there" just like Chase said. It's amazing to me that people still don't understand that ending or the plot of the last season. Chase has practically confirmed his death but people still don't want to believe it. Chase planned this ending two years in advance and you think that he wanted people to know what they've always known - that mob bosses need to watch their backs?!
bxjam85 5 months ago
@kalloused So I guess that guy looking over at him, and his daughter not being able to make it into the seat next to him (thus putting herself in between tony and the gunmen) were added just to confuse us.

@salamonetalton you obv didnt pay attention to the show at all, the ending is an ending , tony dies , i didnt expect a huge dramatic demise on tony , now that woulda been cleche , the ending was perfect.
GoodLifeGoodLove 6 months ago
@salamonetalton If you actually had half a brain or any part of you brain was creative you would realise that the ending is actually very clever.
oceanweaselMW2 5 months ago
@salamonetalton actually the writing is very clever and admirable. The beauty with The Sopranos ending is that it is left for the individual to decide. I could argue that aliens were invading and cut the power and that's why the scene cut to black. You can't tell me wrong because there is no definitive ending.

yer, home alone 1 when the guy outside the door thinks hes gnna be shot and he lets the firecrackers off. and in home alone 2 also in the hotel room. same movie clip, 2 different movies

I belive Tony was packing and he shot the guy,
jarpasmannen 2 years ago
shot who the black guys who were right in front of him and his face had no look of fear or being ready to take action he was looking up no expression..remember when the black guys shot him the first time he got a scared look on his face and reacted very fast..so the guy in the bathroom was in his view if he came out so he coudnt have snuck up on him and tony would alwasy be on guard which he was so it wouldnt be that easy and they rarely if ever kill a guy with his family and kids there

Oh very close it was from Home Alone 1.
celtics8402 2 years ago
No. It was definitely from Home Alone 2 like the guy said. The kid watched the video in the hotel room and later clowned around with the receptionist by using the same video. If it was in Home Alone 1 also, then they showed the same video in both movies.
VR61661 2 years ago
I'm telling the truth it is from Home Alone 1 because on Home Alone 2 after the women dies he says Merry Christmas you filthy animal but on the 1st one he says keep the change you filthy animal like he said in the video you're watching.
celtics8402 2 years ago
Then forget what I said. I haven't seen the movies in years and the line just sounded very familiar. I never really noticed that they used almost identical lines in both movies, but I haven't seen the first one that many times. Cristmas is gone but happy new year.
