  • He STILL should have made the World team this year-should have been given a bye to Worlds based on past performance. I mean, HIS World Bronze medal is the reason the US got to send 3 skaters to this worlds..so why shouldn't he have been given one of them? he had been ill, and could have chosen NOT to skate, and been given a bye..but he didn't trust his Federation to support him..as it turned out, they didn't. because they would have had to bump the Bronze medalist-Evan Lysacek-and they wouldn't.

  • i love the first triple axle...

  • He look like russian singer Mike Mironenko look his clip Esli Ti Uidesh Seychas - and you will see

  • check out the other vids of his tripple loups, i love the thing he does with his foot :)

  • Oh my god, that was so hard to watch. I love him so much, it's so so so hard to watch him make any mistakes.

  • @ellenrocksyourworld I so agree with you! The way he fell down after making it to get back the points he lost by doing a single axel instead of a triple was simply heartbreaking...

  • OH MY GOD!

    there's a winter weather advisory?

  • hes RUSSIAN

  • It took guts to go in there and talk. He came back this year and I'm so happy because he almost quit after Nationals in 2009.

  • Dudeee quite it with the homophobic comments it ain't cool. (:

  • I keep thinking that I am going to see him simply burst into an artistic explosion, without care for the competition, with somersaults and flying leaps.

  • he could kick your ass

  • Huh I was wondering why his program music sounded so familiar. He's skating to Notre Dame the musical!!! =DDD I love you Johnny Weir!

  • @sexypunk5583...Dude get out of here...you're inmature

  • Good Luck in Vancouver buddy!

  • I really felt for him there..

  • really?

  • one of the best!

    GO JOHNNY! ^^

  • Vancouver 2010.

    Go U.S.A , Go Switzerland!

  • 1 of the best male figure skaters ever to represent the U.S.

    rock on johnny!!!

  • @Uniquestylez01

...while I agree Weir is talented and think he is a really great skater... not so sure about one of the best to represent the U.S. and mainly because he folds internationally... how many trips to worlds and only 1 medal? ...2nd place in olympic short in torino and doesn't jump enough to medal - the silver or bronze was in his court and he let it go... a handful of grand prix medals is mainly all he has... I think he needs to be more of a force internationally first...

  • Oh I agree with you. ;-)

    He has undeniable talent..

  • he's so amazing he just glides across the ice! I love watching him!

  • U must b really jealous of him... But he's 1 of the best n he's gonna win the Olympics! He's style is a bit feminin but it doesn't stop him from gumping and getting high scores for artistism.

  • that is really rude, he is clearly a male skater because he is a male, he is probably one of the best skaters out there, so you should rethink what you say.

  • oh yeah you sure have nothing against gay... NOT!

he is one of the best out there

  • OMG! what kind of a bigotted, O-Riely Factor, Conservative radio comment is that?! haahhahaha some people are just clueless...

  • wow then you must be ass ugly

  • johnny is a great skater, now don't get me wrong, but really, skating a bad short and popping tons of triple axels IN THE PROGRAM isn't something he should be training for. if i skate a crappy program in competition, i can be upset for 15 minutes, and then it's behind me, and if i let it snowball into the next program, and the next and the next, i won't progress any more, which he isn't doing as long as he continues to live in the past. MOVE ON AND SKATE THE PROGRAMS WE ALL LOVE!!!!

  • I think a bad short propram wasn't the only problem, though..He wasn't in good condition, i guess, cause he was sick..

  • my most favoritest male skater currently competing in today's world of competitive skating competitions! I love him!

  • HE is unreal i never realized how good he is

  • Aww, he was just a bundle of nerves in the beginning.

  • He has a touching personality. He always make you feel emotionally involved. I wish him very best in his personal life as well as in his professional career and I hope he knows he has fans who would stand behind him not only when he excels but also when he falls.

  • I can't wait to see him on ice next season... I really hope he makes the olympic team... All the best to you Johnny Weir!!!!

  • johnny, your passion on the ice is haunting. Don't let the technical stuff get to you.

  • Ca ca

  • Damn! What a beautiful gay man he is. Full of angst and beauty, drama and strength. He is vulnerable and resilient, very human and lovable. He has talent, grace and fallibility.

  • he was extremely nervous about the competiton and i can see that he was not confident of himself...

    that's what affecting his performance..

but he's got the ability to do all triples actually......i believe he will get through this in 2010 olympics!

  • Johnny, snap out of it! We understand.

remember nobody can take your title unless you make own mistakes.

I hope your mistake turn to be your strength!

Remember you are a pop star on ice! and everybody loves you!

Be healthy, Be calm, and relax your mind.. and

    Bring back Johnny to us!

  • Do not worry about. Even top skaters make mistakes on ice at anytime. It always happens. We know you are a great skater. I look forward to seeing your performance at 2010 Vancouver Olympics. Go on to win gold medal.

  • I feel terrible for him because he lost a lot hours of training and it affected him a lot with his skating.

  • I missed him from the worlds so much, I hope he'll be in Vancouver, it's not the same (for me) without him.

  • creo que eres excelente patinando, se que si sigues adelante te irá mejor, pero tienes todo para ser campeon

  • The song is from the french musical comedy "Notre dame de Paris" it's called "Il est venu le temps des cathédrale"

  • Speak about first minutes

  • i can`t find this music..can you help me,please?

  • I feel so horrible for him. He is such an amazing skater who has been through so much. I know he will do better next year.

  • Do not worry Johnny, you are still the best anyway. It was only a bad year for you. Do not stop, go ahead you are very talented.

  • Did you know there is a new film about Johnny Weir?!

"Pop Star on Ice" (the trailer is here on youtube!)

  • The music was too soft. I have seen the routine from the past. He should re-invent himself. "Pomps and Circumstance" by Elgar can be a good music to start with.

  • IT'S OVER!!!!!

  • I missed you Johnny from the Worlds. I hope the next year will be more successful for you!

  • I love this guy!!!!!!!! Johnny is the best!!! I'm so sad :(((((

I hope I'll see him in Torino next year!

    Elfetto from Italy

  • Man, I feel for the guy. All the extra travelling, illness, family drama...

I hope he can bounce back next season!

  • what have you done? Johnny, we are all humans...you are a wonderful skater, a wonderful person and people love u!

  • This boy has amazing potential, but he REALLY needs to start living up to it. Remember his long program at the 2004 Worlds? It was PERFECT. No flaws, and utterly spellbinding. What happened to that amazing skater? I'm not seeing him like that anymore....

  • Re: RosaLui

We have to believe in Johnny you know? Don't lose faith in him...I think that this boy is a bit vulnerable psychologically and he needs our support, especially when some people dislike him unfairly! We love you Johnny no matter what! God bless you! ^3^

  • Johnny, Russia with you! Good luck!!

  • We love Johnny Weir no matter what. I hope form the bottom of my heart that he'll recover and will be able to compete in Worlds and olympics 2010. He's probably my favourite single skater ever.

  • Comment removed

  • i dislike your attitude. I also dislike your level of English capability.

  • I love this music for him...I hope he keeps it and continues to train it for next year...good luck Johnny!

  • Wow, I absolutely love Johnny, but I'm really tired of his excuses. Can you just put the damn triple axel-triple toe loop combination in already. And just do that quad. It's not gonna hurt you anymore than you've already hurt yourself. And please please please get a different costume. No more off-the-shoulder with a red heart on the left. With that said, Johnny, you're still my fave!

  • lol..well said

  • Luv the music! Luv Johnny and he will get it good! Don't count Johnny out...he always needs a mediocre performance to push him to be his best...which will happen next year for the Olympics! WHere can I find this instrumental music?

  • The music he choose is from "Notre Dame de paris" musical by Riccardo Cocciante!

  • issues....

  • where is the short program on youtube?

  • why hasnt he done his triple axel-triple toe all season?

  • i love this music i just feel so bad that he could not pull through.

  • WE LOVE YOU SOOOO MUCH!!!!!

    You #1!!!!In the world!

  • i so agree with u.

  • Wow. Gender confusion? Are you afraid to say that perhaps they're gay? They shouldn't be competing with the women because men can perform the much more difficult jumps because of their physical capabilities. Also, why do the roles normally reserved for women HAVE to be a masculine portrayal? Because of what society views as "appropriated"? Such a conformist.

  • I dont care who they choose to bump fuzzies with. You say that women cant compete with the men because of the more difficult jumps and are hindered by their physical capabilities, yet, how many triples/quads did Jonny do in his routine? How many triples did Yuna or Mao do? It's funny you accuse me of confromism, yet it's you that limit women by your misogynistic generalization. I hope that they do make changes to skating and have only coed singles because there really isnt any difference.

  • If Johnny Weir wants to win at nationals and at the olympics next year, he has to have a flawless skate with no mistakes. Also, it would help if Johnny chose more intense and passionate programs, like the ones he used last year. I don't know if its me, but this year his programs were really dull and boring. It didn't help at all with his skating.

  • he also needs to stop drinking like a fish, and smoking like a chimney

  • I hate to say it but Johnny doesn't look too well here... pale and very thin and not as confident as he normally is.

I haven't seen him mess up an Axel in years, normally that's his most consistent jump.

I know he absolutely wanted to do this but maybe he should have withrawed due to the flu that's still affecting him.

  • Who is the douchebag that decided to put someone who just bombed their short program into the freaking "Truth Booth". WTF?! They did that to Ashley Wagner too, and the poor think had tears in her eyes. Assholes.

  • My god i can´t believe what happened with Johnny, we know that he is a very good skater and he will back next season, but i think that was very unfair for Johnny that the USFSA don´t send him to the world championships, they forget to quickly that he was the only skater that brought a medal for the US in the worlds last season. The USFSA socks.

  • why am i not surprised usfsa hasn't pulled this yet, yet his silver at SA, Everett was pulled along w/ everything else from SkateAmerica

  • poor Johnny i so want him to do well next year !

  • It was just somethign weird with the lighting.

  • It is the best of conditions(states) joined with fayas or without fayas is the best best indicutiblemente that ivan is worth going to Olympiads

  • he looks waxy in hd.

  • Really sorry for him. He should've been appointed to Worlds

  • johhny ,you would be responsible for yourself, your act and your determination whatever result follow.. dont blame this result on others.. you have to blame on you!!!!

  • Man! I hate the truth booth. How disrespectful this is for the skaters. Skating should not be a show.

  • I know this was his worse FS of the year, but somehow, I still like this performance. There was a lack of passion and fight, sure, but there was something so quiet about this that made me... It looks like a practice routine. And while it doesn't win you championships, or does anything good really, it still has something special about it.

  • The USFSA is going to be kicking themselves if the top two men can't get a total placement of 13 or below...

Also, do you happen to have his short program you could post?

  • Comment removed

  • It is completely absurd that the USFSA decided not to appoint him to the world team for 2009. He is currently the 4th ranked skater in the world. He recieved the ONLY medal won by any US Skater at the 2008 Worlds. He is the reason that the USFSA is allowed to send three men to the 2009 worlds. The USFSA is not only Homophobic, but irresponsible.

  • Johnny has been sick a lot this winter. According to Sandra Bezic if he had withdrawn from the Nationals (due to his illness), he would have made to the team USA for the World Champ. Too bad that the US Figure Skating still doesn't trust Johnny. I hope he gets well soon.

Johnny, good luck on your next season esp. the Olympic.

  • I love Johnny. If he is first of last in a competition makes no difference to me. I remain a fan for life. He is a beautifully talented skater.

  • he has nice bubble butts. i wanna bite them!

  • Johnny is an incredibly talented, strong, and gutsy, athlete. He will come back just fine next season.

This was an awful place and time to have a competition like this and its most unfortunate, but he really just needs a break. I wish he didn't have to keep training for Worlds just in case someone withdraws. That he could just rest.

Next year is Olympics and I'm sure he will take every precaution to be ready.

GO JOHNNY!!! YOU'RE THE BEST!!! LUV YOU!

  • could you elaborate this question?

  • I don't think you want him or her to. What an asshole.

  • Don't make stupid accusations transcarib. Find something to do besides for asking nosy, personal, and stupid questions.

  • what does HIV have to do with anything? you are completely ignorant.

  • Johnny and the guy that took second were the only hope for the US team to medal . I was just thinking if Johnny wore a tiara on his head ,he 'd had done much better.

  • Comment removed

  • I felt awful for Johnny. I have never seen him fall in a competition. He simply didn't have enough time to recover from the flu and the training time he lost from illness.

  • i know, exactly! i'm not sure which program kills me more - this free skate or his free skate in 2007 where he was visibly shaken & broke down in tears. i absolutely loved both his programs (esp the songs) this year and i'm so disheartened that his trip to korea, which should've been remarkable, ended up with him having a viral infection which took him so long to recover, lose incredibly important training time and thus affected his program here.

but johnny's always been a comeback kid!!

  • Coquettish, was that at US Championships in 2007? I don't remember that, but I've only been following Johnny since about 2006...though I've seen some of his earlier performances on You Tube. I really love his jazzy routine that he did in Korea...it was the SP, I think. So different from his usual and he did a great job.

I think he's a wonderful skater and performer and I will continue to follow his career, regardless of competition outcomes.

  • poor johnny :-(

  • thank you for posting the clip! I wish the best for johnny! he is such a graceful and mature skater on the ice!

  • Poor thing, thank you for the video.

  • 5th? does that mean he does not go to worlds this year?

  • he's an alternate :(

  • He is first alternative if any either Abbott, Mroz or Evan have to withdraw form worlds. He is not on the world championships team.
