  • hello Mr Hayward .

I am planing to buy this beauty .can you tell me what is the maximum speed will be maintained on this bike practically.and there is any difference you found in between the old bullet and new bullet.

  • 60 - 65 mph is a comfortable cruising speed, and 70 - 80 mph easily attainable.

There is a useful article on the differences between the two models at Real Classic Magazine (see Bullet EFi)

    Best Regards,

    H

  • Had mine up to about 85 which is an interesting experience. Sounds a bit like a chain saw in a metal dustbin......... great fun , I love it!

  • I hope it's not a stupid question, but can the EFI models be kick started too?

  • @gyrate4

yes this model is also available in both electric start or kick start version

  • @gyrate4 Yes.

  • @gyrate4

The classic does not have a kick start, but the other EFI models do. I never use my kick start on my EFI DL.

  • looks great!! royal enfield should have made these changes to the wheels, fuel injection and unit const. motor years ago. but still looks like the suspension clutch need to to be upgraded too

  • standard UK specification... complete with left side shift lever linkage junk!

  • me too some day

  • ...someday, I will own one of these...

  • @01triumphbonnie believe me dear ...you don't want to. these bikes are of horrible horrible quality

  • @bittergrapeshape

You're too bitter. You probably bought one of th bikes from an age when they were badly made in India. 'Horrible horrible quality?' Not any more.

  • @zeVinx

Mine is 10 years old, with a 2007 engine. And the quality is really really bad even on the 2007 engine. It broke after 3500kms, big end bearing.. First engine lasted 10.000 kms, but was faulty from the factory. I have had everything breaking down, cables, alternator, gearbox, engine..(pistons, bearings, name it). Paint is flaking off, things rust after the bike has been left out in the rain for 15 minutes..RE? never again.

  • Hi Mr. Haywards,

I just got this baby, but am apprehensive of installing the after market silencer as its still new, also I read about changing the silencer after the engine is thoroughly run-in around or after 1500-2000 kms, so as to prevent an extra strain on the engine.

Is this true or replacing it even before running it in would be ok?

  • Nice bike......I m glad u picked this colour,Lot of my boys here in India have a huge crush on this baby.

    Cheers! Ride safe.

  • Hi

Thanks for your interest...we like the colour too!

    Regards

    Dave W of Haywards.

  • I am very curious about the sound/thump, it have been lower due to envirmental resons same like other newer models or it sounds same like 1950s ? I can't hear too much sound in video. Thanks for uploading!!!

  • Hi,

Thanks for your interest in the new Royal Enfield 500 Classic EFI. The new EFI models have the same "thump" factor, as all previous models going back to the 1950's. To enable full "thump", the original silencer needs to be replaced with a Watsonian Squire (RE Importers) approved silencer. The new EFI Clubman has one retro fitted from new. We will upload a video of this when time permits.

    Regards Dave W of Haywards.

  • This is really the best looking bullet ever!! The classic 500 is great.

  • Cheers! We think so too, thanks for your interest.

    Regards, Dave W of Haywards.

  • actually when it came out first i thought the new engine looked like an 80s honda, it didn't quite fit its vintage heritage but when i see it on the classic it really blends in.

I hope they come up with a twin cylinder version, enfield did make twin cylinder in the 50s.

  • Hi,

Sorry for the delay in reply......

There are no plans at present, to develop a twin to the best of our knowledge.

RE made twins as far back as 1907.....we agree, it would be nice to see a "twin" being developed.

    Regards Dave W of Haywards

  • Just saw and rode one today in Bombay. Interesting - I must admit the 350 carb version was running much smoother than the 500 efi version but I was somewhat swayed by the 500

Are they good reliable bikes now or are there still many quality issues and niggles ? thanks

  • Hi,

Thanks for your interest in the new Royal Enfield 500 Classic EFI.

You will be pleased to hear that the new 500 Classic EFI is a positive improvement on the previous model. Less vibration, improved reliability and better performance without sacrificing the Classic appeal.

  • A solo seat is factory fitted as standard; the pillion pad kit is an optional extra.

  • Do they make them with a rear seat?
