  • NAZI SKELETONS!

  • @TheBlackStar999

    \

Game takes place in World War 1. Therefore, they were not Nazi's.

  • I loved that level. And the music was incredibly good at setting the mood. This was THE level if you enjoyed killing skeletons.

  • This. is. one. of the. best.vg.soundtacks.ever. ( IF NOT THE BEST) .

    PERIOD.

  • that last rotating blade pissed me off (you know the only one that went in reverse) XD

  • @thatotherfilipinoguy duck, scoot, duck, scoot, duck, scoot xD

  • @thatotherfilipinoguy for some reasons the Tool Assisted Speedruner found a way to run straigth trough those blades xD

  • ah i remember my first impression of this very clearly.

*at the map* why the hell am i going to some random military base in germany??? *stage starts* BECAUSE THE MUSIC IS AWESOME OF COURSE!

  • I've completely mastered this game and can beat every level in 3 minutes or less.. except this one, i always have to stop and listen to the music for a half hour

  • [I feel epic.]

  • If there's a thing that can describe the word EPIC, is that song. And a lot of castlevania songs !!

  • ahh konami... we know what to be expected of you to make use of the genesis sound chip... i wonder how this would sound on the snes?

  • Look how epic the cover of the game looks, why don't games nowadays have that ?

  • THIS IS MY FUCKING RINGTONE! :D

  • That tower part was really frustrating, but as soon as this theme came up, i wasnt complaining anymore :D

  • best castlevania song ever !

  • This is MAKE A GOOD USE OF THE GENESIS SOUND CHIP

  • HOLY SHIT!!! I JUST REALIZED! THE BASE MELODY OF THIS IS Symphony No. 5 by the composer Schostakovich!! How awesome is that? :D

  • @csutortok Fuckin' AWESSSSOOOMMMMMEEEEEESAUCE

  • @csutortok idk what you said, but it sounds AWESOME! :D

  • Comment removed

  • @csutortok Yes. Michiru Yamane did her homework very well. She is a genius and i really do not doubt that she studied every goddam classic ( and many others ) compositions of the world.

  • @csutortok IT DOES!!!!!!1!1!1!

  • @csutortok That is beyond awesome.

  • @csutortok Good eye, I mean good ears lol. I just heard this during my music final and thought the same thing.

  • @csutortok

Hadn't heard it before, thanks for the word up.

  • ERIC IS A -GUY-.

Alright. I think I FINALLY understand now... good GOD, "it's" gender was giving me a fucking headache for the betterment of the last 10 minutes... >.<

And to be on topic, this theme is awesome. Due to the fact this game sorta took place after WWI ended (1917), and the fact that there are German Soldier Skeletons running around the outside of the place, it's as if this theme is PERFECT for this level. :O

  • eric lecarde HES NOT GAY ITS JUDGEMENTS FALUT

  • @west8991 He has at least 2 daughters according to PoR, but then again, Judgement makes everyone look like a fag

  • @Vengeance19 Judgment sucked. It's the only Castlevania game I regret buying...and I bought AND beat Castlevania Adventure...

  • I used this for my art movie project. Castlevania ftw!!!

  • GERMAN FACTORY !!!!!!!!!

  • it is, and Eric Lecarde is still awesome.

  • Comment removed

  • best version of Iron-Blue Intention

  • for me the best castlevania

  • This is my most favorite castlevania music EVER also.... crap i forgot the spear guys name he was awesome.

  • @laseren68 his name is Eric Lecarde

  • @laseren68 Eric Lecarde, and the guy with the whip is John Morris i believe, played as em both but i prefer Lecarde's spear to Morris's whip, dont get me wrong i enjoy playing as both but i've always prefered the thrust-jump with the spear to the whip's ability to grapple on to things.

  • @tEnThUmBsUp: The game is actually slightly easier to beat with Eric. I also enjoy playing with him, too.

  • awesome music. awesome stage. one part i hated was the balancng scales thingies towards the end.

    =/

    other than that... AWESOME!!

    ^^

  • I still play this game...

I still lose on the Tower of Pizza.

  • This boss was silly ;p

  • Was i the only one who crapped their pants when the Gear Boss Started jumping like a Crazy,Wacky ivention gone bad.i mean the way he started wobbling around and that sound it made really creeped me out when i was a kid.especially playing this alone in the nighttime at 3 oclock in the morning.

  • The arrangement in PoR really can't compare to this. There's something sinister in the Genesis FM chip that comes out in this song-- the metallic, hollow percussion is in perfect context for the setting of a German munitions plant.

  • @kaebeezle Totally agreed. The genesis has one of the best sound chips. it's a shame no recent retro games have been inspired by it's sound direction

  • @kaebeezle

i disagree completely, i think the one in PoR sounds way better. The epicness of that arrange is on another level, i hope you're not just judging based on nostaligic reasons. But this is still a damn good tune regardless

  • @Kirbyluver2 The sound quality is better sure, since there's more room for instrumentation, but what I find best about the Bloodlines version is the context in which it's placed. It's clear that the song was written specifically for the level it appears in here, whereas it's just re-arranged and placed into PoR. To me, it loses some of its depth when it's taken out of its original context.

  • @Kirbyluver2

I heard PoR's version first, and the bloodlines version is just.. WAY WAY better.

  • @Kirbyluver2

Personally I do not like the instrument samples used for the PoR version. Makes things sound less clear, and more muddy. They have a compression on them that is not found in the Bloodlines version. While if you don't care about that stuff it's not bad, but as they say, sometimes less is more.

  • @kaebeezle

You said it. This version's way more methodical and grim-sounding. It's like getting slowly crushed beneath the weight of some force that has no concept of pity.

  • @kaebeezle I agree, there's just something subtle about this version which gives it a sinister feel which, although being sinister probably wasn't the goal with PoR's version, isn't matched in PoR.

  • same song in ds game castlevania por

  • i still have this game with my genesis console at home :-)

  • @Mr3a5y I wish I could find mine, Its super fucking awesome, I still need to play with out dieing on expert.

  • Hell yeah this song.

  • Man this song is epic it's like seeing titanic but with action violence death but caused by monsters and epic

  • i Love castlevania!!!!! ist Awesome

  • Castlevania is freaking awesome

  • 2 people play with their balls for fun.

  • @edvanced12 more than 2 my friend

  • cant believe i spent 30$ on this game but its worth it

  • The German munitions factory level.

  • You can't call yourself a castlevania if have played this! and i agree with Craig from Screwattack.

  • Michiru Yamane's first Castlevania score and it shows, what a legend!

  • my 2nd fave song out of this game

  • The truth is that there is no 'BEST' videogame console. SNES and Genesis had their great games and their shitty games, so this means they both could have good or bad music too.

This is an example of many music in Genesis that are great. The quality of the sound will depend on the composer's skill.

  • @NewAgeRetroGamer There's always gonna be bad and good games. That's why you look at the good games and compare thm.

  • Plain awesome

    No pickles , No onions

  • man i gotta look for this game later Nintendo is jealous just because the sega genesis had High-def graphics and The SNES didn't fuck the x-box360 and PS3 you weren't the first HD game consoles genesis was it said so on the genesis 16-bit High defintion graphics in bold print

  • I've owned both systems since their initial releases and there's no question the Genesis had inferior sound. The this game for example (which I still have myself). There are a couple of decent tracks, but take a mediocre game like Dracula X on the Super NES and listen to that soundtrack. Light years better music, and yet the game was a sub-par effort on Konami's part!

Seriously though, if you want to hear the best Genesis music, try Streets of Rage I and II

  • @KarbuncleX drac x was a shite game mate.

    a butchered game.

  • @hassmann2000 Uh...no. While it was by no means close to the epic win that is Rondo of Blood, it was still a pretty good game, and it had some great tracks (I actually like the Dracula X version of Opus 13 better than Rondo of Blood's version).

  • @Jazzypants2007 well thats what im saying innit

  • Anyone feel the same as this?

"i was playing Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, and got to 13th street, and as soon as the BGM (this one) started playing, it flooded childhood memories when I used to haul ass on Bloodlines."

  • @MasterLezard yes i felt so happy used the lecarde spear with no partner and jump the gaps just like in bloodlines it was so happy four me

  • I swear I'm reminded of Metal Gear Solid around 0:22.

  • I can't believe that people keep saying, even after listing to THIS, that the Genesis' sound chip is worse than the SNES'.

To me, it's how you use the damn chip! I like the music in CV4, I just don't like how it sounds if you know what I mean. Kinda choppy-ish.

IMO, Simon's theme sounds better on the genesis than it did on the SNES.

In Castlevania: Dracula X, I LOVED the sound of the music and the music itself.

Thumbs up if you agree, and if you don't thumbs down and shame on you.

  • @MetalSonic150 I definitely believe this. People love to pick out games that had crap music to begin with as examples of the Genesis' 'inferiority,' but... look at games like Bloodlines and Phantasy Star 4. You can't tell me that sound chip couldn't produce greatness.

  • @MetalSonic150 snes sounds a bit akward but i love the gennissis alot better no offense but at least sega were trying to make a good chip

  • @shoooshify What do you mean, that I'd take offense to you saying the Genesis is superior? The genesis was my first game system, and I hae loved it ever since I got it. I remember coming home from grade school, going straight to the Genesis, and getting the Bloodlines cartridge out, only to quickly skip past the title screen, cause it always freaked me out, lol. I guess I just didn't emphasize the fact I liked the Genesis over the SNES.

  • @MetalSonic150 no i thought you would say something else if i did not say no offense its a habbit i keep writeing that my appoligies

  • @MetalSonic150 It IS worse. The sound quality is simply inferior. This doesn't mean that people couldn't compose great tracks for it, but it took serious talent. Just like the NES' sound chip is inferior to the Genesis', yet people did amazing things with it.

  • a realy good game, i just get amazed when i firts i heard this tune in my genesis ...like 12 years ago

  • Best Castlevania imo and fucking awesome music

  • @SwredMurd You wanna play it? Play it on a damn emulator called Kega Fusion!

I don't need it though, cuz I have the real game! I love this game!

  • The sounds on MD where better than on Snes if you ask me.

  • God!!! I love how the drums kick in at around 0:07. Thankyou for posting.

  • As a kid, hitting stage 4 was the thing I looked forward to the most because I loved this track so much. Hearing it in Portrait of Ruin gave me such a rush of nostalgia.

  • if you thought the sega genesis / sega megadrive's sound chip sucked then listen to the Music from Steets of Rage 2 and the almightly THUNDERFORCE IV!!

  • hell yea genesis was my shit back in the day.

  • I wonder whatever happened to the Germans at the Munitions Facility...and for a munitions facility it sure is empty when it comes to raw munition supplies...its probably a gizmo factory in secret, especially as the level slowly unfolds...

  • @skittles25 It's Der Riese from COD world at war xD

  • That's a bleedin' awesome level tune!

  • Shostakovich, Symphony No. 5 ?

  • @JustAnotherGuy66 Nice catch dude. I would have never known that she ripped off a Russian classical piece, well almost anyways. Its VERY similar but not the same.

  • Why the fuck did I have to hear this for the first time in Portrait of Ruin? That was probably as bad for me as hearing the Mario theme first in Mario Sunshine and later noticing the changes in the SMS version after playing Melee, then something else; I forget what...

    No, that's probably the worst. I could have gotten a Nintendo 64 if I was better experienced and wasn't 6 then I wouldn't be as fucked up. ;_;

(I'd still be fucked up, just slightly less than current...)

  • fockin greatest song of all time.

  • the game is so good as well as this song.

  • This song is so good, it got remixed twice!

  • this is the best song of the entire game

  • @Lestatcame1st This or Calling From Heaven are the best.

  • @Lestatcame1st IMO, it's a VERY close second, right behind Reincarnated Soul, which has become my favorite theme in Castlevania history.

  • this game owns i never played it but the music is just wow....

  • You should play it, it's one of the best classic Castlevanias. I hope they put it on Virtual Console sometime.

  • Or the PSN or XBLA. That would be great.

  • Ah.... I always thought this was an original song from Portait of Ruin. That rendition is really good. Obviously I never played Bloodlines...

  • Obviously your missing out on a very good Castlevania game for the Sega Genesis.

  • @DeadWombat1421

You should play it, its one of the best in the series and it isn't that difficult.

  • This game needs to be put on XBLA and the PSN. We have SoTN but my Xbox experience will not be satisfied without this.

  • oh wait, I thought I was still on otobeya's page

  • @stalepieonceagain Haha I love otobeya

  • @stalepieonceagain

Lmao. Still hit it though. Better yet hit it while playing this. Best of both worlds.

  • epic song

  • i need this game again! havent played since i was 6!! i love this game and the music is killa! is this the stage with the leaning tower?

  • No,this is the stage 4, the one in a factory in Germany

    :)

  • dude i was just playing this level the munitions factory and this song is so fucking awsome man the games a fucking classic man i had to listen to this song they just dont make music like that for games anymore lol let alone games like castlevania bloodlines

  • so true mate

  • Btw, this song fucking owns. I could literally listen to this nonstop >:D

  • @TheMilfman7

true this complments the genesis in everyway.this is where sega genesis had to have it from if they took this for a satrt who knows how good every genesis game would have sounded.

  • does anyone know where u can download this song?

  • yeah download youtube downloader if you need help send me message or something

  • thanks i got it working

  • How come the box art doesn't have Eric in it?

  • Genesis forever. The Snes just couldn't even come close to the unique techno sound.

  • Amen to that!

  • It all depends on the skill of the composer.

  • This version of tune... it's origin, is better than it's Portrait of Ruin version.

Also, it's awesome to finally play this... I've been searching for this game in stores for about 6 and a half to 7 years.

  • Look for this game as a ROM my friend :)

  • This man is correct. All you need to re-experience the past is some roms and a good usb game pad.

  • Wired Xbox 360 controller works perfect, imo.

  • I need Iron Blue Intention from Dracula Battle Perfect Selection II!

  • It isn't really good actually, too different from the original source. Reincarnated Soul, on the other hand, it is played amazingly in the Dracula Battle Selection

  • On a somewhat-related note: I really despise how the Bramble Scramble song in Smash Bros Brawl sounds NOTHING like the original in Donkey Kong Country 2 and is mediocre at best. At the very least, you're right in saying the far-fetched cover in Dracula Battle II at least sounds great on its own.

  • Mmm, i didn't see it that way, i'd have to listen to ir more carefully, maybe i can see it as a great song on it's own, only that the melody of Iron Blue Intention is so amazing i didn't want it to be changed.

  • iron blue intention isn't on that album :/

  • *opens iTunes* hmm... here it is: Track no.9 from Dracula Battle II - Perfect Selection.

  • hmmm, your right

wasn't there when i searched for perfect selection tho :/

  • I remember getting this game as a birthday present... and my birthday is in the middle of October. This is a great Halloween game. =D

This was always my favorite track.

  • Its a great game period.

  • Yeah, in fact... all Castlevania games I say are great Halloween games to play.

  • By Far 1 of the best songs from the 16bit era...

  • coolness

  • by far one of my all time favorite songs in the Castlevania games!!

  • I actually enjoy this version over Judgment. The Genesis audio has more...'funk' to it. Also, sounds more creepy and organ-like. The DS version is too proper and orchestral-sounding...

  • purely amazing

  • So far, I like Judgment's Iron Blue Intention better, but this one's still awesome.

  • hitler would be jealous of this song.

  • LMAO!

  • this is awesome

  • this is my favorite song of the entire game! i love it! i grew up watching my cousin play this game but my grandmother gave away the sega genisis and all of the games to the goodwill last year i was so sad :(

  • I like how each song seemed like a perfect for the country the stage was in. To me this fit Germany perfectly.

  • This pushes the megadrive sound chip to the limit.

  • totally awesome. the nazi skeletons made me lol first time I played this.

  • epic song of the game!!

  • This and "An Empty Tome" from OoE are I would say the best 2 castlevania songs ever.

  • feeling like booting my genesis to go whip some skeletons wearing WWI german army helmets

  • the most badass song in castlevania series

  • Portrait of Ruin's version of Iron Blue Intention was awesome. I personally like this one better though.

  • This is when he was in Germany, Munich, Old Munition's Factory... I remember it well.

    Guten Tag!

  • Eerie, but great stuff!

  • hmmm after castlevania 3 for nes i just skipped all the way to rondo of blood and then to the playstation is this anygoood

  • If you can track down a copy yes it is definitely worth playing. Just remember that it's pre-symphony era so it's old school tough.

  • Good thing I have a copy at my house, is it that hard to find nowadays? That game is the awesome, though some parts did scare me when i was younger, namely that mothra looking bitch.

  • Its one of them yes...along with the Shinobi games.

  • Oh ok, I got off lucky then I just got it on Christmas one day during the mid-nineties.

  • I wouldn't call it lucky, It was a mass produced game then...its just that most people seem to hate the genesis for a bias reason. Which means most people ether sold or just threw them, and the games away.

  • The only people that hate on the Genesis are the people who never owned one.

  • I didn't own a Genisis, and I've never hated on it. The only thing I don't care too much for is the sound processor. AND EVEN then, its has own charm to it. : )

  • True that.

  • AGREED!!!! My very first system was the Sega Master System, then Genesis!!! Sega had the better music than SNES!!!

  • @Trea2030

On the contrary, the SNES had more memorable themes, and i own both a SNES and the Sega Genesis.

But an opinion is an opinion.

Castlevania games always have great music.
