Taking a muscle relaxant before bed can alleviate nighttime leg cramps. Some people find that a daily combination of calcium, magnesium and potassium tablets work for them, while others must resort to using tranquilizers to get any sleep.
2:00 Oh man, I know that feeling... Glad I'm not the only one that experiences these legcramps during weightloss
I think I have to gear it up a bit. You're going so speedy that it's hard to keep up (looking at you doing your best is damn motivating, thanks for that).
Are you taking vitamins? Take extra calcium and, more importantly, magnesium. Cal-mag tablets are fairly cheap and will help leg cramps. Take them before bedtime.
I'm a collegiate distance runner and my advice is build slowly, add only 10% in distance per week. For cramps, bananas do help, but be sure to drink plenty of water. Hydration is crucial.
To help with the leg cramps, eat a dill pickle a day. My ex husband has the same problems and that is what the doctor told him to help with the leg cramps and seems to work.
A mile is a rather big increment, such additions to your walking is a journey best traveled a step at a time, quite fitting metaphor, I'm sure you'll agree. Anyways, try 2.1 miles. Add a little bit at a time; it's the basics of any 'training' ( I know there's not so much of a goal, it's just for health's sake).
Anyways keep it up Happy, you can really see how much you've lost just by looking at older videos. It's rather inspirational what a bit of willpower and perseverance can do. =]
Funny you should mention the cramps Happy, had one myself the other night and they hurt like a b*tch! Aparently they're bought on due to dehydration so if you do step the exercise up just be sure to drink a lil more water than usual.
Your face shape has already changed a lot. I started the whole omega 3 thing a few weeks ago and it's amazing how well it works! Thanks for making these videos.
Keep it up, Happy, it's really showing now, you're looking a lot thinner. Going from 2 to 3 miles is quite a big increase. I thought it seemed like a lot when you mentioned it previously. Maybe you should go to 2.5 miles before jumping to 3.
Congrats! The BEST thing you can do for leg cramps is eat a banana, especially before bedtime. The potassium is EXCELLENT for leg cramps. I learned about that little trick in a Nutrition class while in nursing school :-)
You might want to try drinking tonic water. Quinine works wonders if you're getting leg cramps very often. If you don't like the bitter taste (like me), you can add some lemon and a *little* bit of sugar or sugar substitute and make a somewhat bitter lemonade - and if you use freshly-squeezed lemon, you get your fresh fruits, too!
I use to get those leg cramps when i would walk more then my body was use to wake from a dead sleep & roll around in pain & have to rub it out. right now im stuck at 303 lbs but recintly found out i love Summer squash & been cooking them up in my meals.
Depression- big killer of any self-improvement projects! I decided to take Fish Oil supplements (enteric coated 1400mg softgel pills). With 900mg of Omega-3 & other essential fatty acids, I've been somewhat better. But life keeps reminding me that the problem of depression is multi-faceted, that I cant expect this one fix to solve the problem. How I view myself, feel about myself is the most crucial part.
I remember some great health advise I once heard and that was "to pack up all the processed food in your fridge and pantry and give it to some one you don't like very much". A nicer way of looking at it is if you like yourself you deserve healthy and nutritious food. Junk food is overrated :)
Great work on the weight loss. Magnesium is really good for cramps...and many people are deficient in magnesium, zinc and other vital minerals ... if you google it you will find lots of info. Also make sure you drink enough water, as dehydration can cause cramps. :)
You do look thinner. You can see it in your face. It's good you are having little cheats in your diet too. Most fitness channels I've come across generally recommend that, or a cheat meal a week kind of thing.
Also, try going from 2 miles, to say, 2.2 miles. Just bump it up in small stages. Will be easier for your body to adapt, rather than one big chunk. Just a thought.
Yeah, I used to get leg cramps. Make sure you stretch before and after exercising. When I got a leg cramp I would lay on the ground and stretch my leg tight against a wall.
Awesome update video. Glad to hear you are getting close. 2 miles is awesome. maybe focus on your time and shaving off a few seconds here and there. Do you jam some tunes while you walk? What? Also, good job with the chips/craving control.
I am happy for you, HappyCabbie. Your face has slimmed down. You are correct with the bad (saturated) fats--they are addictive and should be replaced with unsaturated fat. The treats are a good idea and I think I will try. Again, glad you are doing well.
Awesome. I'd recommend making sure youre getting enough protein too. You need those amino acids for mood regulation too. Great job. You'll be at 250 in no time.
You can definitely see the weight loss in da face man, doin' great, keep it up!

Your video reminded me that I'm going to work out today.
Since you're vegan, I assume you're using olive oil as one of your good fats. Are you also using nut oils and/or nuts and seeds?
I can be very boring on this, but I'm curious about specifics.
Again, you look great!
