it would have worked better if you realized the actual properties of the gas. the gas from the lighter is actually heavier than air, so most of it sinks downward... most people think it rises. try it again with the cup rightside up, holding the lighter upside down in the cup to fill it up with gas, then give it a spark, i think you'll see greater results
