this man is up there with emanuelle and knopfler, i had the privelage of having a drink with him in a pub before one of his gigs and he's truly amazing
What a gorgeous version of an amazing song. This should be on a movie soundtrack and I am sure it will be some day. Ian Smith is a rare talent and well done, Conor Bowman. This song is up there with the best!
Ian - beautifully played and sung as always, a lovely song with great lyrics that deserves to be heard - it'd make a great soundtrack for a movie.
Would love to hear On Keadue Strand again - any chance of uploading it? And that great one about the mining 'killing' the mountain - and the Blue Door one. Look forward to hearing them all on your upcoming CD.
This is one of the greatest songs I've heard in years. Great lyrics that get to your heart, a great singer and outstanding guitar playing. This is a superb tribute to the life and times of the people of New York. Ian Smith....any more songs?
What a wonderful, wonderful song. it seems the lyrics capture the spirit of the World's greatest city. The vocals really catch at your heart which would have to be made of stone not to be moved to tears by it. I love the guitar playing. It's really beautifully done. It's one of those rare songs that has a bit of 'Everyman' in it. I've heard him playing with a guy called John leadbetter who is also a stunning player. The best live acoustic music I've ever heard in Ireland 40 years.
ian's arrangement of this is superb and his vocals really evoke the sentiment of a truly moving song. I love his guitar playing. His albums are full of great original material. they are really worth looking for. Perhaps there are some of his songs on MySpace.
