This scene is even better after you watch Before Sunset. because that is what happens and there unhappy because they werent together, but they were married to other people.
When you meet the person you are meant to be with, just throw away care and connect. That's what life is. Enjoy the moment and remember the passion forever. Then, If you are blessed you will connect again and be together forever.
this is not as the usual plot aristotelian type .first the initial contact (start) that a misunderstanding forces the seperation (climax )and then the final reunion when misunderstoodmend resolves(end).but it has an existensial one . the significent of the meeting-in-the-world only is magnified by the common knoledged final-End wich is the sunrise . this take up from whrere other romance films finish with a "andthay lived hapylyever after"that ever after .
This is a classic scene. Very pivotal. This is the kind of persuasive speak that I wish that I was better at haha!! But then again...it also helps if you look like Ethan Hawke too! hahaha!
This is really an important scene in the movie. Thanks for sharing :D What I think about it is that she is thinking about what could have still happened when they had stayed together for more time when he comes back in. I think she absolutely know what he is about going to do and as he starts talking she just waits and keeps listening what he is all going to tell to be able to spend more time with her. I think this amuses her and she likes it and is happy that he had the courage to do so.
neither has acted in this movie. it looks so natural like two strangers meeting and enjoying each others company. that's how acting should be - just as if they're not acting at all.
@vaadaenmacchi totally agreed!! however, I heard some of Julie Delpi´s interview about this movie saying how meticulously planned was each performance. I imagine so much hard work in order to look almost like an improvisation!!
I love this movie. I was in Vienna once with my girlfriend and had a great experience. I heard this movie is based on a book which is based on a true story. The author met a girl in Philadelphia and they spent the night around philly. Anyway, a very romantic movie. I'm glad they made a remake.
I know that feeling...when you don´t want to stop talking to someone you have just met :-) and all the hours in your life won´t be enough to go on talking and talking...you know? it only happens once in a lifetime. I love these movies too :-)

i love love loveeeee both the films! never saw so much romance in just walking and talking around cities!!

To me, this is the pivotal part of the movie.
If Jesse had not gotten up the courage to do the hard sale, they would have just passed on as strangers. This scene makes the romance work.

the best movie ever...
however I cant help but think that the best scene is the store scene where they listen to the Kath Bloom song on Vinyl.

mines the love scene where she talks about how the only magic she thinks is in the world is in a person trying to understand another person.

I kept thinking, damn, I should've memorized that speech.

a total sexual Psico in that scene!

It takes a lot to trust a total stranger like that. He's good-looking and smooth talking, but sometimes psychopaths are.
Regardless, it's a nice scene.
