Not a travel at all. His right foot was established as his pivot foot, so he was allowed to step with his left. Yes his right foot shifts over alittle bit, but thats pretty much a push-off foul from the defender who was playing great defense nontheless!
His RIGHT foot was his pivot, sure it slid like 2 inches but not a travel. You see Lebron against the bulls where he took 4 steps before his jumpshots. Idiots
i love how people call a travel when patterson hand checked the fuck out of him and walked underneath him on the shot. lucky it wasnt a 4point play you fuckheads
watch the close up replay directly after. he doesn't lift his right foot up, and the only reason it slides is because he is slightly bumped by the defender. The ref called neither the foul nor the travel. And either way, after a shot like that, why argue over petty detail? It was an amazing shot and he did what it took. If you look at the last shot Jordan ever took in the finals, there was an intended push off, but it didn't get called. Clutch players make it happen. Enough said.
Slowbe Cryant is the most overrated player in NBA history, never been the best player on any of his championship teams and never even been close to being the best player in the league at any point in his career, the ignorant sure would like to tell you otherwise though

i never watched MJ play really because he retired for the first time when i was just getting into basketball, but there is no doubt in my mind that kobe bryant is the best player (scorer atleast) of all time since i started watching basketball. If you haven't arrived at this conclusion you need to either
A take lebrons dick out of ur butt
B finish highschool
or C stop watching basketball entirely, because you don't know shit from shinola.
the absolute best part. from where i was sitting, there was no chance that either of these was going to miss as soon as it left his hand, you could just tell, the entire stadium got quiet while he put it up, its like we all subconsiously reaelized tehy were going in before they even did. this is the closest thing to magic i have ever seen.
these were the best buzzerbeaters EVER. and i was A WITNESS who actually WITNESSED SOMETHING
what makes it even more amazing is that throughout my years of watching basketball, whenever a team is blown out, i never see somone trying harder than kobe bryant on the losing team. he literally goes all out even if his team is getting crushed... the reason this matters is that only he could have stayed in the state of mind to make these shots, the game should have been over but ruben patterson missed 3/4 freethrows with the crowd stupidly screaming BEAT LA while he was shooting
this video just doesn't do it justice... watching this live and seeing the clock slowly ticking down making 5 seconds seem like 5 minutes, to have been COMPLETELY gaurded by "the kobe stopper", perfect defense. to have the crowd chanting as loud as can be "BEAT LA" , Kobe was boo'd every single time he touched the ball. all of this added up to be the best buzzer beaters of all time, and this is coming from a BLAZER fan, so don't tell me about bias' you dumbasses, this was amazing
holy shit i remember this game !!!! i was just a 10 years old when i watch this game and thats the very first time that i watch baseketball and after watching this game i started idolizing kobe thank god i found this video thanks to you 9K5
@gotboostninja u cant deny how fuckin beast kobe was in that game even though u r a kobe hater.. And as a laker fan id rather have the ball in kobes hands when the games on the fuckin line, and im sure most people would agree with me. And on kobe being a ballhog u dumbshit kobe averages over 6 assist per game, so tell me how is he a ballhog that fuckin averages so many assist bitch
@rockdaboat69 the fact that you don't know who the player is should have told you to not open your mouth and just shut the fuck up, but i guess people like you are just too pissed to think logically. there is a reason he is open, he can't fucking shoot. watch the defense and stop talking like you know jack shit about basketball you fuckin clown. i actually watched this game in person and trust me it's the most amazing performance i have, or will ever, see in my entire life, no question.

@okcameronfilms "used against you in court" what exactly are you going to use against me? and why am i going to court? hahahah man of course you would say something as stupid as "pass the ball to the guy on the right", you probably suck at all aspects of life
what a ball hog, haha look at the open laker over at the top of the screen, waiting haha, and for all u that say he was fouled, wow u would make bad refs, patterson had his arms straight up, ya he was moving his feet but playing good D, Kobe was doing most of the contact trying to get a open shot,
The best footage of this was on realplayer the next day - it showed how demoralized the trailblazers were. There was also this funny white kid nodding, holding a cheap sign that said "Kobe's The Man". If anyone has this, please post it and PM me! I've been looking for it for years.

i agree it was a really bad shot (the first one) but i dont think he'd take that shot today, but back then he was more selfish... but he did a hell of a job to put it in. Not hatin either, jus a poor shot selection that went it.

ur retarded. this is regular season, theyre rly isnt any pressure, cuz winnin the division isnt rly important, unless u RLY want homecourt advantage or somethin, lebron was not known for his 3 pt shooting before his shot, the cavs wudve been swept if it werent for his shot, there was so much pressure. the only things tht made kobes shot better was tht he fell down so it was tougher and the cavs didnt win tht series but lebrons shot was way better
Yeah no pressure on a game and division winning shot... you obviously never played any kind of sport. Can't believe the shit you are writing. Lebrons shot was great, but not comparable to these two.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
u forgot to mention he was wide open the defender got there late.... LOL any one with good %3 had a good chance to make that shot... pressure?? .. there was no pressure for magic they were like oh lebron made 3?? big woop.... we gonna win the series so who gives a fk??(cavs had nothing to loose) lol ...and HOE WILLIAMs said they gonna win for sure the series and he didnt LOL... saw the shot kobe made??? and lebron couldnt even made a 10 second 3 pointer today he totally missed OFF MARK!
I remember those shots. Two in a long line of incredible, unbelievable, impossible game winners of Kobe's storied career. He could retire today and no could touch him for the period of his career. We'll see who's the best for the next 13 years+ after Kobe exits the game...I hope he goes like Jordan in 98. I could see that happening, only with kobe averaging a mere 23 points a game compared jordan's 27 or whatever in his last Bulls season.
Kobe and MJ are the 2 greatest players of all-time-please do not compare the 2, Michael was the greatest-tired of the argument-Michael changed the game of basketball forever!!!!!!
you gotta love the comentator...."Kobe bryant, wearing ruben patterson".....kobe bryant was wearing him like he had a ruben patterson costume on for sure lol haha a clown costume.....i wonder if portland playoff chances depended on that game
Been watching NBA for 18yrs,i would say kobe 1st shot is obvisouly a travel,BUT NO ref would call it at that closing moment>>NONETHELESS ALL CREDIT TO MAKING THAT SHOT>>KOBE/Shaq/LAKERS 4 LIFE!!!
You're crazy as hell. Did you not see that 35 ft. three-pointer that Jordan hit to beat the Pistons? Jordan has plenty of game-winners better than this one. BUT...this shot is still great.
@Vesperydia Jordan never had to, they rarely were down!! now I hate Jordan, and I think as of 2010 Kobe is a better player, but Jordan still gets the respect as the GREATEST because of what he did, without the most dominant center ever to play on the hardwood.
@Vesperydia Jordan never had to, they rarely were down!! now I hate Jordan, and I think as of 2010 Kobe is a better player, but Jordan still gets the respect as the GREATEST because of what he did, without the most dominant center ever to play on the hardwood.
@Vesperydia lol, jordan did those many times, in the nba finals. he's the best player ever. but still kobe is the best in this era, there was Jordan era, and now we are in Kobe's era. and all haters should understand and accept the fact that nba is dominated by kobe bryant up until now.
@dre32pitt yeah, t'was better to me, but this is crucial, because if they lose this game, they will decline from the standings to 3rd in the western conference, and don't want that because if they do, they would have to face KG and the wolves much earlier in the playoffs, w/c are the top seeded team in the nba, where the wolves rarely lose, i mean like they dominate the nba that time.
LMAO at any Kobe nuthugger who doesn't think this is a travel. Not only did he travel, he traveled twice. aimthebum hit it right on the head: Slid his pivot foot (travel) then lifted his pivot foot and jumped off his other foot (also a travel).
you are right... kobe did travel.. but he really traveled cause he got bumped a little by ruben patterson...so he literally got away with a foul.. so it goes either way
lol you have obviously not watched the best pivot players in the game
they have great footwork, where they pivot with the heel and toe.
watch jordan and kobe in some of their moves, most times people dont catch it because the footwork is too fast but on a replay you can see that they have moved a couple of feet but have not lifted a foot.
regarding that play on the vid, patterson moved his feet, if he had kept his feet on the ground it would have been a legit contest. he got away with a foul
Fisher also made a lucky one against the spurs and kobe made another against the pistons to save us from being swept.
whoedj24 3 weeks ago
by far the two most difficult buzzer beaters in the same game and all people can do is debate whether or not he traveled.
please, go back to your Lebron James game winner against the Magic where he was just as surprised he made it as you were.

I could see that happening, only with kobe averaging a mere 23 points a game compared jordan's 27 or whatever in his last Bulls season.
indyspank 2 years ago
Kobe and MJ are the 2 greatest players of all-time-please do not compare the 2, Michael was the greatest-tired of the argument-Michael changed the game of basketball forever!!!!!!

If the ref would have called the foul on Patterson, Kobe would not need to travel to clear space.

@Vesperydia
You're crazy as hell. Did you not see that 35 ft. three-pointer that Jordan hit to beat the Pistons? Jordan has plenty of game-winners better than this one. BUT...this shot is still great.
YoungCutthroat 1 year ago
@Vesperydia Please do not say that... .If MJ sees it, he'll announce another comeback :)

@Vesperydia what get away with a travel ?
Death2Zionists 1 year ago
@Vesperydia Jordan never had to, they rarely were down!! now I hate Jordan, and I think as of 2010 Kobe is a better player, but Jordan still gets the respect as the GREATEST because of what he did, without the most dominant center ever to play on the hardwood.

@Vesperydia lol, jordan did those many times, in the nba finals. he's the best player ever. but still kobe is the best in this era, there was Jordan era, and now we are in Kobe's era. and all haters should understand and accept the fact that nba is dominated by kobe bryant up until now.

Best game winning shot in NBA history! Seriously!
protoj01 2 years ago 47
@protoj01 i think the dfisher .04 second flip in later in the playoffs was better
dre32pitt 1 year ago

Learn the rules or stfu.
AbstractSnipes 2 years ago
you are right... kobe did travel.. but he really traveled cause he got bumped a little by ruben patterson...so he literally got away with a foul.. so it goes either way
9k5 2 years ago 3
and thats why the ref didnt call it, let the play go
djherok 2 years ago
@9k5 It would of been a continuation and it would of been a 4 point play.
NYSWAGG585 1 year ago
lol you have obviously not watched the best pivot players in the game
they have great footwork, where they pivot with the heel and toe.
watch jordan and kobe in some of their moves, most times people dont catch it because the footwork is too fast but on a replay you can see that they have moved a couple of feet but have not lifted a foot.
regarding that play on the vid, patterson moved his feet, if he had kept his feet on the ground it would have been a legit contest. he got away with a foul
