Howard Stern played this song yesterday. I like it, but it seems a bit too repetitive. It's like they took a 40 sec sample and put it on loop for four minutes. I still like it.
@Cainefan- it aint so, "repetitive" means different things to different listeners. The BEAUTY of CCD is that they make oldtime music ACCESSIBLE to a WIDE AUDIENCE. CCDs spreading the word of Americana, Roots music like no one has/can. ~8000 views in ~5 months speaks to their success
@moonshineV I agree. My point was that all songs (especially instrumentals) have a degree of repetition (who ever heard of a 40 second song anyway?). Having said that, I hear some different variations in this performance.
I like EVERYTHING about this video... the cemetary story, the clouds and rain, the circle of sunlight, the fiddling... the podorhythmie... the BONES! the dance.... They are incredible. I love it when I can fall in love with a new band.
Please come to Alasdair Fraser's Valley of the Moon Scottish Fiddling School someday as teachers... you will not regret it Carolina Chocolate Drops! You would so fit in so beautifully and be so loved by the community.
@madhoyden I agree with moonshine, they are EXTREMELY better in person. I went to see them yesterday, and they were FANTASTIC. It was my first concert, and it was a wonderful experience. They keep you entertained between each song and connects with he audience very well by explaining the origins of the songs and what not. We even got two encores!!
amazing!! this is the first I've ever actually heard from this band(caught part of some live interview thing on NPR tonight)so I came home and went straight to my computer to look for this song....YouTube delivers as always!! I am completely in love with this completely new song/band--the possible magic of music ,-it truly makes life worth living..THANK YOU!!!
Its great that I could provide something for newcomers to "oldtime music" - consider picking up a banjo, guitar, or fiddle and find your local oldtime jam. start picking. it makes life worth living.
