  • Bad boy stealing

  • i luv setsuko!!!!!

  • well that was the circumtances of human nature... sometimes we(people) dont know what we became cause of our anger... you cant blame to nation for what ever cause of wars.... blame people itself.........

  • well shit, i dont blame him for stealing, that old asshole had a high price for that small amount of food. him and his sister are starving, you would do anything to survive.

  • ppl judge women too much

  • That can't be helped for Seita to steal foods. Too sad

  • 3:30秒あたりで泣いてしまった。

  • 少なくとも「火垂るの墓」は子供向けには作られていません

  • @portugaltake まだ子供たちが成長して 1 日には、この映画を参照してください。

  • This movie reflects the other site of the war.

  • 皆いきていくのに必死。家族を守るのに必死。心を鬼にしないと生きて行けない時代。

  • the young girl learned what the mother was feeling the hard way. war is terrible in the name of any nation. God help us all

  • that's sad we all would steal to feed our baby sis

  • human beings r truly r masters of destruction

  • americans are murderers!!!!!! MURDERERS!!!!! they kill people for gold, or oil. gold is a cold rock, and oil is just a fluid. WE ARE TALKING ABOUT PEOPLE HERE!! HUMAN BEINGS!!!...............murderers....

  • @ioka2008 so are the japanese bitch

  • @baramui i know that asshole. but if you look through history, you'll see who has killed the most...

  • @ioka2008 Nice to know you understand every race in every nation in the history of earth was incapable of war until Americans came along. I'm American, and I don't condone any war or fighting for any reason. I'm also a commoner, so my opinions don't count, just like the people in this movie. I'm sure if your country started a war, you wouldn't have anything to do with it personally either. It's always the politicians and military causing war, those in higher positions.

  • @strawberrymits i don't think that american people are bad, or that they are the ones who started the war. of course the politicians and the army cause the war. but i can not ignore the fact that you believe the media! i mean, how can you possibly believe that the war is being done to free the world, or for any other good reason...! families are killed, kids lose their houses, their families...!! if you do understand this, why don't you react??? (sorry for my english)

  • @ioka2008 Don't worry your English is fine lol, better than I can do in a few other languages. I don't see where those words ever came out of my mouth, do you? Since you are bringing it up, I believe very little in what I read or see on TV. War and hate is wrong no matter what, period. There is no middle ground, lukewarm aspect of it. That's just common sense. Most people here don't want to be at war, but like all other countries, we're struggling with culture clash too.

  • I think the Aunt's oldest daughter is starting to realize that she herself is changing too.

  • I'd steal food in that situation, too. "Thou shall not steal," my ass. If it were to save myself and my family, I'd gladly take someone else's food to save myself. Survival of the fittest in times like those. It can't be helped.

  • dont run away - you were our dinner! LOL:)!

  • this explains why war is horrible

  • This is an incredibly important scene...Seita ultimately rejected by the narrator...ugh.

  • i think the unkle helped didnt he? that AUNT IS ONE BITCH...SHE SHOULD LEAVE SO THE REST CAN EAT..FUCK HER...AND NOW HER DAUGHTER...

  • its such a shame that when a country is at war people will more likely to bargain with eachother rather than help

  • It really hurts me now that he has to resort to stealing, just to feed him and setsuko.

  • O man... I'm gonna cry

  • the daughter of the aunty shud hav taken sum food to seysuko and seita! i wud hve done that.

  • The aunt's character was supposed so show the effects of war in dehumanising a person, both civilian and military. She lost her husband. To cope with her loss, she lashed out on Seita and Setsuko... the brother in law and in this episode, her own daughter.

There are no good nations/bad nations in this story. America is not portrayed as an evil empire because even the Japanese aunt and the other Japanese have done evil to others, too.

  • Exactly. I do think that the aunt is being completely unreasonable and extreme now, but she is suffering the side effects of losing her cousin and husband to a war, having her children get sick and sad, unintentionally driving away her brother in law, and so much more...

  • the japanese may have been the one starting all the pointless wars during world war 2 but the japanese people didnt want this. i know its the japs fault but its not them to be blamed at.

  • Seeing all the people from this drama, their struggle to survive, I feel that I'm taking everything of my own life for granted, because I live in our modern world(I'm in Canada now) we have everything.

  • true, nice said.

now all kids are spoiled and everything.

  • >.<

  • Her not acknowledging to the farmer her relation to Seita is similiar to how the apostle Peter denied Jesus even though he said he wouldn't.

  • It's true I wonder if that part could've been based off the Bible... That be cool to hear about a Japanese Christian

  • moar liek GHEY. The Japanese should stick to their own traditional religions, and stay the hell away from our shitty ones.

  • In fact i'm a Christian i just dont like to be called 'religious' and Christians can vary. Some or most Christians are not bound by stupid religious rules they only believe in the one truth and that truth is that God exists and they acknowlegde his sacrifice. It appeals to me because i believe religion itself is merely a concept created by man based on what people believe to be God's image. Christianity is knowing the truth and believing, not a 'religion' we do not 'require' anything.

  • @baramui Don't Wreck the Film I;'m Also a CHRISTIAN many people in our country during WWII Did this so they can have food much like The German Soldiers killed and masacered JEWS

  • More cultures have been destroyed in the name of Christianity than any other. Trail of Tears, the Inquisition, the Holocaust, all of these things were done for Christianity. Keep that mental pollution away from the japanese, they're better off without it.

  • totally agree. love your name btw :)

  • the Holocaust wasn't done for Christianity.

  • Baramui - If it isn't fair to stereotype all Xtians as clinic bombing, gay murdering, kill anyone in the name of an invisible redneck in the sky fanatics, then maybe it also isn't fair to group all Muslims as "terrorist towel-head sand negros?" Oh, and Fyi: "en . wikipedia . 0rg / wiki / Freedom _ of _ religion _ in _ Japan - So they -do- have a religion, and there are actually 3 mi Xtians in Japan... Yeah, soooo oppressed.

  • What and you expected me as a Christian to not take any offense from your comments? Not very fair is it? I don't know what kind of twisted veiw point of Christians you have in your head but fyi i'm nothing like you describe.

  • I agree, good to know theres alot of christians out there.

  • Go Seita go >:O!!!

  • yeah hes hot and so is the other guy with the bad leg wow i fancey them both
