@Foxontherun2 Why do people climb mountains if they could go around them? You rock crawl for the challenge of it. You won't see any other type of vehicle climb these obstacles. It's impressive to see a 4000 pound vehicle climb this stuff.

@Foxontherun2 I was on your side till i tried it. Rock crawling simply takes more skill than just hold it to the floor through a mud pit. It takes finesse and you have to know the very extreme limits of your vehicle to keep it on all fours. You can go as fast as youd like but your either gonna fall off the rocks or snap something in half.

The only thing I can think of is if it where some sort of emergency situation , but even then it would make more sense to run up them rather then bring your car.... idk

The guys who get up the under cut water fall did an awesome job, I would never have thought that possible. What great terrain you have, if we did that here in the sucky UK we would have officials come and stop us, fine us and block the trails, it sucks here, the USA is great.

@deanschool dont take me the wrong way, those are radical rigs, but by professional i meant custom machined billet parts, top of the line custom parts taylored to each righ down the tenth of a millimeter. motors, frames, suspension all built by big name builders, and then all other parts made with the best materilas available, and not to mention extremely expensive paint that will we sctatched off within the first outing. if ur rigs werelike i stated, i was wrong, but my comment wasnt hate.

dirtdemon06 save up like 2 grand get a old school toyota pick up with solid front axle take off the bed cut the front fenders. there u go it will work to start than when u get more money start to build up the suspension. than get a little bigger engine. but this is one of the simplest ways. have fun never wheel alone.

@LONGIRAFFE Depends on your application. Lots of small block users use autos. The 4.3 v6 crowd uses the 700r4, some use th350s. Some jeep guys use manuals, and some use the 32rh. Most Toyota guys run 5 speed manuals.

There is more to it than a trans, remeber after that you have the transfer case. I have dual cases in my Toyota. In my old jeep I had a 300 flat clocked with a crawl box. It all depends on your application and location. Guys in the south are diff than west coast guys due to terrain
