Im so happy underground music is still thriving well and is still full of creativity and originality. The metal scene, punk scene, folk scene, underground rock, jazz, blues, and classical music is still going well. It is just too bad the only musicians getting attention are the "cash grabs," little music groups or "artists" that remain popular for a small amount of time and then completely forgotten. Talking to people about this is useless, the mainstream just cantsee the pattern for some reason
How in tha Hell does these idiots partying ALL THA FUKIN TIME. @UltraDOG17 Um okay. Not sure what you're trying to say but crappy music can't be to blame for social ailments. Pop-culture is nothing more than a sociological looking glass. I realized that over the whole Rebecca Black abortion.
@trueboss926 Aah, you didn't miss much. Jazz and Fusion turned into adult complementary and New-Age, metal started wearing makeup and vocoder was all the rage. The only thing good to come from the 80's were bands like the Talking Heads, The Sugarcubes, Tom Tom Club and a few others. Hip-Hop was great back then and metal did eventually turn pretty awesome. Beyond that, the 80's was a complete wash.
Popular music has lost all depth. The stuff you generally hear on the radio or see on TV, the chart-toppers. People don't want to think anymore when listening to music. People are too consumed by their own shallowness to be able to listen to anything that has any meaning.
Led Zeppelin... do i need to say more? ah right Jimi Hendrix and then work your way around there... im 15... i swear if i hear about some crappy auto tune song and how its better than fuckin pink floyd im gonna use my guitar as a weapon... peace and love lol
Dude don't look for music on the radio no wonder you're depressed. Music today is the most innovative and original music ever. You have to look for it. Rediculous video.
@jasonmit who gives a fuck about pop music shut the fuck up im tired of everyone bitching about how shitty poplar music is. the people that arent being pleased by todays music need to go out and form a band it dosent matter if you cant play an instrumnt as long as you are passaionant about the music you are preforming people will be impressed and there will be a new great age of music we just have to go out and make things happen instead of bitching about how things suck.
@Johnnyo743 This was a three minute long observation made three years ago. If I haven't used my time since then to find brilliant music - just bitching about shitty music - that would make me a very miserable person. Luckily, I bought a turntable, and went out to garage sales and thrift shops and found some awesome stuff. Plus live a life.
Now for you, If you're so tired of hearing people bitch about the lack of originality and substance in today's music, why do you seek out videos like this?
WRONG! Music took a downward plunge ever since MTV hit the air. It is more important for appearances, selling an image, and selling records now than actual substance.
Really great bands stay underground because they don't have the " popular sound". It's sad, very sad.Rap is crap, a product of MTV. Without the " Gangsta" image rap would have never been popular. R&B is an abortion, nothing like it's roots.
You aren't a jack ass. Music is horrible these days. I have enjoyed music,in all it's forms, for the past five decades. In the past ten years,I haven't found a single band or artist that appeals to me. I just wonder what these record execs are thinking. Downloading music illegally isn't hurting the record industry. The crappy music that's being shoveled out is what's killing the music industry.
The audience has changed. The problem is that everything has retained the same name. If a song made purely from flatulence became popular, and people actually liked it, then I don't see why it couldn't win an award or two.
ohh man i feel you, im 15 in england. i fucking love nirvana, rage against the machine and smashing pumpkins. this month's one hit wonder is a guy called Tinie Tempah who followed up his first song with the same song with a different title, Frisky. some of the lyrics include "would you risk it for a chocolate biscuit" i mean COME ON!! and all my friends think it's good!!!!
His music has real meanings and all that and he is a real talent. Not sure if you like Rnb music or not, but if you do you should check him out. He is not at all like all the mainstream shitty artist.
Hey man, I agree that music Is bullshit today. Well this video was made 3 years ago. I would say that music right now even shittier than 3 years ago. You mentioned Ne-Yo. I would just like to say that Ne-Yo is an Rnb singer. He's one of my favorite artist. I would like to say that Ne-Yo is definitely one of the best artist going right now. He's definitely not shit,
fuck even someone who knows how to play an instrument right and read musical NOTES and know about musical theory is way more talented then the shit thats comes out from the radio thats goes through one ear and leaves the other
you are not getting too old in fact im 13 and the bands you named are all great. its definitly the music industry. its just so horrible. dont mean to be racist but everyone thinks there black. i envy your generation's music
Good music ended when all the artists quit doing drugs.
I don't know. There is good music still out there that is made today. You just have to dig deep to find it. It's hidden behind all the pop/rap/country shit.
What kind of music do you listen to? I noticed you said you listened to some of the Seattle grunge bands like Soundgarden and Nirvana. It's all a matter of opinoin too.
But I hate it when people think T-Pain who uses auto-tune, is a "musician." Musicians play their own instruments.
I'm 17 and I am appalled that music today can pass as anything, for example the use of auto-tune effect. I see what people my age listen to and they think "bands" like Nickelback and Hinder are actually good. Rap/ hip-hop used to be cool in the days of Beastie Boys and now it's repetitive. Music today is shallow and recycled. We've become desensitized by what good music really is. I like bands or artists that utilize a unique style, such as Tool, Incubus, MetallicA and Neil Young.
today's music hardly has any soul or meaning to it. im 16 and ive been listening to the beatles, elvis, and many other great bands my whole life and i also agree with you saying about power chords. 90% or rock songs always have the same eminor chord with distortion repeating over and over. wtf happened to the arpegios or licks back in the days?
I feel ya, man. I'm 15 and I agree that music sucks, so it's certainly not an age thing. I think it has to do with people being less and less willing to be themselves, and instead just adopt pack ways. Not only is music becomming worse, but so is literature. Take Twilight, that book sucked, yet it was the most popular book since the davinci code or harry potter. I think it's because we worship this bum/ghetto lifestyle and we avoid class and see it as "White and nerdy". It's a shame.
I've pretty much given up on modern music. I don't even pay attention anymore; there's no point.
I've started moving backwards. Picked up some old records like the Ohio Players, Earth Wind and Fire, War, etc. I'm on bit of a Tom Waits kick right now and that's the newest stuff I listen to these days.
I had a thought the other day. By today's standards, bands like Nickelback and Coldplay are ranked as being the more talented groups. It was a pretty depressing thought.
@jasonmit yeah, like coldplays viva la vida is just them trying to be the beatles, "lets make a sgt. pepper!" f**k them. and todaay artists spend years and years making an album that will be forgotten in 3 months. the beatles made 2 to 3 albums a year that are still beloved and recognized today. but thats just me.
@jasonmit hey dude i agree on it. i listen to some nickelback and coldplay and im glad thats stil being played on the radio even though 1 of the few good things however its rlly a shame whats happening with the music. Music hasnt become an art anymore its becoming more like a trend they even put out the crappiest dance music ever on the radio
les jus say everything turns to crap: 98% sucks and 2% is good at the mainstream.
hey i agree with you in a lot of genra's i am a musician and if you go to my site insidethe222 listen to a couple of mine its me my idea of music and i may not ever get famous but its mine
lots of people are going to country because its becoming more rock-like and the rest is going to hell for whatever reason....pop...rap...hip-hop(techno with a fag talking)
That explains why i've been listening to classic country music lately. I also blame the liberal hijacking of the public school system for producing the current crop of illiterate rappers.
PRIMUS, niiiice man. Im a 17 year old lady and I listen to nothin but groovy tunes from the 60's n 70's. YOUR NOT OLD, the soul in music was lost when marijuana became illegal.
I just think music really stopped somewhere around or after 9/11. I'm not sure if it's like a creativity rut, or if something bizarre is going on here. I don't think this decade has a cultural identity. My entire high school experience was spent trying to find some type of an identity.
Most of those post grunge bands I can't stand. I won't dismiss the entire genre but there weren't too many bands that suited my taste. Jay-Z released a kick-ass album the same day the terrorist attacks happened (out of coincidence) but that was his last great album and one of the last great mainstream albums. His work since the Blueprint 1 has been mediocre at best.
I agree with that, I guess Jaz-Z has just lost it, it happens to even the greats after awhile.
I don't like any metal today withe the exception of folk metal.
Although alternative rock seems to be making a comeback, check out bands like Dawes, Alberta Cross, and Dr Dog. You can really hear 70s southern rock and blues in their work. Dr Dog is very "60s inspired," they going back to the roots, which is what grunge bands did.
Actually you're wrong. My dad is a musician. He use to teach music studies and direct. I would very commonly share what I was listening to with him to see what he thought. In some cases he would say something like, "They going to use more than three cords?" but more usually, Primus for example, he would give a positive critique. And come on, who's better than Buckethead?
Give me some examples of artists today that are "a million times better" than stuff from the 90's.
So because youre dad is a musician, I'm wrong.....? Doesn't matter whether your dad, uncle, or second cousin is involved in music; it can't prove one's opinion wrong. I will say that some of the music today (such as hip-hop and rap) is complete trash. But we now have alternative rock and more of a modern sounding rock, more rock incorporated into country, and pop has become techno (which should be changed). Examples: Paula Abdul < Beyonce. NSYNC < Muse. Sales are better, even in a bad economy.
I'm guessing you're still in high school or younger. Its not an issue of opinion, it comes down to the mechanics. What the hell do you think liberal arts professors in universities are teaching? So yes, you were wrong. I don't give a damn what your opinion is, we all have different opinions, but the talent in music today is completely gone. Before the 70's, believe it or not, but it actually was required for a musician to know how to play an instrument.
First off, I'm a college graduate. So there's strike one against you. Second, where the hell do you get off saying someone's opinions is wrong because you don't agree with it, jackass? I don't give a crap about the liberal arts being taught. I listen to artists that DO know how to play instruments. I don't like some of the music today, but there's a lot that is good. I don't give a damn about your opinion either because what you dislike is what I enjoy. No ifs, ands, or buts, about it.
I'm blocking you so I don't have to deal with your petty bullcrap anymore. I like music that you don't like. You don't like today's music because it's not some of the oldies crap that you enjoyed when you were young. You're pissy because stuff you liked is a thing in the past and isn't getting as much radio play or promotion as others. Sorry, but it's a new generation. Some music is good, other is crap. I know. But you're upset because your childhood music is vanished. Have a lovely New Years.
First off, I didn't say your opinion was wrong. By definition, there is no such thing as a wrong opinion. I was just saying there are variables that isn't subject to opinion.
Second, how am I pissy for holding a discussion? I'm not the one who just left a two long paragraph response and banned me from your channel for no good reason.
man all u people who lisetn to the new music are fucking brainwashed the only reason you think its good is becasue you have been told this through pictures the media an your freinds...its like a fcking chain reaction... the thing that gets me today is music is so shitty anybody take the WORST zep song (which really there isnt one) it is still better than any top song today..u can take the best song today..release the song in the 70's and it will be the worst song EVER..
i listen to everything, but mainly current music, cuz i prefer new fresh music, and why dont you grow up, at your age you should know how to respect other peoples music.
Anyway most people buy my type of music anyway.
no-ones taste in music sucks, cuza everyone has their own taste, and if i enjoy todays music then so be it, if you wanna listen to 80's music then so be it, theres no need to complain all your life
Ya, everyone has their own taste, but most peoples' tastes are based off the radio, which is controlled by big music companies who hire experienced producers who know what the majority of listeners want. What most people prefer in music is repetitive simple songs that take the least amount of effort to listen to.
people had heart back years ago record company pricks corporate america and radio suck say what you want about elvis he was having fun singing in the experimental sun records era.
we're been plaqued with terrible bands and they are destroying any chance of a musical revolution these bands Include, My Chemical Romance, The Used, Hedley, Fall Out Boy (EMO bands). This generation doesn't know nothing about what ''rock band''? means, todays kids just ''wanna be'' celebrities, trendy bands and do nothing for music; we are experiencing the same case of the first half of the 70's and 90's, great music great bands but the other half of that decades: the mainstream corporatism
Yeah, as a kid I fantasized about being in band like Nirvana, Soundgarden, and even Primus so I picked up a guitar and learned how to play. Oh, and a real guitar; not a glorified joystick attached to a Wii.
The lyrics to some of the songs are really stupid. Stupid meaning statements fail to follow any logic. One of the rap songs states "Down like the Economy" as in "Down" like one would state they are in agreement. IE. "I'm down with that". IT"S SO STUPID. Nonsensical words to create a catchy chorus is one thing, but an entire song filled with non catchy paragraghs is bad

get over it, i like music today, the 90's music i absouloutly hated, nirvana in my opinion is dull, music isnt getting sucky, its jsut doesnt suit to your taste, theres a trend in music each year, so maybe in about 20 years, your music will start coming in then i can complain about that and say how shit and boring ''todays'' music is
I agree with this video, and im only 14. I like listening to music of today... if i wanna dance. But honestly if you listen to some of today's music, it tells you exactly what it's meant to mean. Real songs, from back in the day, had hidden meanings, they actually made you think about it. And if they were about something dirty, atleast they didn't just come right out and say it. I don't know, maybe I'm just tired of hearing the same 3 artist on the radio. Maybe we just need some one-hit wonders!

yep ur getting old. not tryin to trash talk you, its just that this is generally how old ppl talk about music. 1st off, carrie underwood IS country music, that u said u listen to! 2nd, just because something is different, doesnt mean its wrong! lets face it, U fell right into t-pain's hands. The reason he spells the title like that is to draw attention to his song...and he got your attention! Go t-pain!! Score: T-pain-1 you-0
thumbs wayyyyy down for you newtubeaccount1. shit music you listen to. and fuck t pain, if you need computer synthesizers to make your voice sound better when you sing; then you shouldn't be singing in the first place.
p.s. road kill also draws attention, doesn't mean its good though.
Is 15 too old? Because I still have no clue why all these synthesized rappers are calling them selves these names which purposefully make them look under educated...Mad flava, T-pain, soulja boi...also just because it got his attention doesn't mean he actually likes T-pain at all...'just because some thing's different doesn't mean its wrong!'
Y'all need to dig deeper in your search for music. Go underground. Hell, queens of the stone age is one the best bands of all time and there still putting out shit. Mark Lanegan, Eagles of Death Metal, Black Keys, Black Angels. Ween, Them Crooked Vultures is about to come out. Jay-Z is still the shit. There is always good music being made. I even make some myself.
These days, I've been treating music like a fish recipe; I stick with the classics and if/when there's a new one that doesn't stink, I add it to the classics.
I'm sick of going underground. 15 years ago we didn't have to search underground, it smacked us in our face. I didn't have to go look for Wu Tang, Scarface, NAS, Tupac, Biggie, Boyz 2 Men, Jodeci, SWV when it came to hip hop and R&B.
The entertainment industry as a whole is inferior to what it once was, TV and films too. The day of the good sit-com is extinct. Now it's all this reality TV bullshit. We have hundreds of channels now and I can't find anything good to watch. I remember when we only had 30 and there was always something good on.
People can't make decisions for themselves these days either, they have to be told what to watch, wear, eat, drink, ect... by mass marketing (commercials). They tell us what to like.

Wrong, sorry. The best modern pop music of all time has been created this decade. You hate the popular artists ruling the charts, and I do too. The masses are idiots. But there's tons of new artists who are great, they're just not on your radar or as big as they deserve to be. You don't know where to look, so don't say music was better before, cos it wasn't. Todays good artists are standing on the shoulders of giants and improved upon them.
thats a good analogy but is radiohead really a prog band? im not goin against it im just curious, cuz in my book i dont think nothing can compare to pink floyd
I try not to get specific with genres. To me, pop and rock is the same, they use different instruments but the songs are structured in the same way. But Radiohead and Floyd, with a few others, don't fit that mold and can be called experimental or progressive. That's why I compared the two: they're unlike their contempories and cause lots of sub-par copycats. I also think Tool is better than Floyd, in regards to experimentation. So my criteria is pretty broad.
They are different genres, both of course use the studio, but pop music now relies SOLELY on the studio. (Like ,insert random talentless pop artist here,) Some of the current rock bands actually can sing, but some (like Dragonforce) can't sound good without the studio.
dam right man am 15 but my mom and dad grow me up on 50-90s muisc and i love it all but ya the last good year for muisc was 1996 or 95 and am for all muisc 1920-1989 and all thats on my ipod is 80s and 70s and 60s and the kids in my shcool are like wtf but they are dead so who cares not like that lol but with muisc
I was raised very much the same way. My dad use to be a musician then a music teacher and my mom worked for the Oklahoma Music Educators Association. The best era for music has to be from the 40's; big band/swing and southern blues. Hell, even if a person doesn't care for that kind of music, they should have an appreciation for it considering everything made since then was influenced (directly or in proxy) by that music.
In my poinion pink floyd, zep, and, (later)Beatles are some of the deepest bands of all time and pretty much like the trinity of legendary music. Amazing songs include (Led Zeppellin: Ten Years Gone) ( Pink Floyd: Shine On You Crazy Diamond) (The Beatles: A Day in the Life)
....theres so many more though. Just trying to spread the meaning...
lol it's not that the subjects changed that much. In the 60's and 70's they were singing already about drugs, sex and rock 'n roll. It's about heart, soul, creativity and most of all motivation. Today's bands priorities just changes. They went from heart to money. I love all music from 1500-2000. Bands like Led Zeppelin, Beatles, Oasis, Rage, Tchaikovsky, Weezer, Wu-tang, Snoop, Beatles, Abba, Stones, Prince, Guns they changed music. No wonder music sucks when they are no more around. -_-
Yeah, I mean seriously the de-evolution in music is staggering. Before we know it we'll be reverting back to hitting rocks with sticks.....we're already grunting.
The reason why is because the government and MTV took over. In 2005, the government sign with MTV to start making music more worse so they can destroy the minds of people.
there are alot of artists out there and I have discovered quite a few of them are pretty damn good. All i can say is that not all of today's music is bad. The music on the charts and radio are pretty much tasteless.
if you look around other than what is topping the charts and what is on the radio you'll find it.
man you suck if you say EMINEM IS UP THERE! you must of SHIT I KNOW YOU JUST HOPPED INTO RAP IF YOU THINK THAT OVERRATED loser with no sense of concept or story projecting is greater rapper then playa fly!! OR WC, ICE CUBE, TWISTA, BONE, BIG POKEY, ALCHEMIST i can go on and on and on. YOUR A FUCKING hip hop A.I. LOSER FOR JUST STATING HIS NAME!!
Good music doesn't often make mainstream radio (it's not catchy enough with 1 listen to enhance commercialization) but it is still being made. Listen to Alt-Indie stuff and you will find the greatness of yore. Online radio stations like KEXP play this music, and there are many music festivals that feature it almost exclusively: SXSW, Coachella, Pitchfork, and V-Fest. The bands we used to listen to would be classified as Alt-Indie, Brit Rock, or College Rock today. Re-enter the World of Music!
Oh and I know people have opinions but why must they bash good music when I'm trying to enjoy it? Can't they just keep opinion to themselves? Music used to be so FUN and meaningful. Some classic and "mod" artists I like are the Lovin Spoonful, Louie "Satchmo" Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, Wham! (I love the Go Go song!) Frankie Valli, Rosemary Clooney, and The Beatles. I def. agree with the maker of this video. Thanks for posting this.
It's not just a generation thing--music DOES suck today with the exception of a few artists (John Mayer, Jason Mraz, Coldplay). I think I'm one of the few 20 year olds in this world who can appreciate music from all decades and all different genres, and not bash it because it's "old." Yes there are some good songs from this decade (and our generation did have it's crap songs as well) but now it's all about image and not about the music anymore.
Oh I'm the same way. I started collecting old LPs. I got everything from Sinatra to Tom Jones, Herb Albert to Blood, Sweat & Tears, Armstrong to Miles Davis, Willie Nelson, etc...
You can't defend today's music or the fact that it caters to teenyboppers. These artists suck--one reason is because their fans are mostly teenyboppers.
amen. i'm 14, and i'm one of the only people in my school who doesnt listen to "soulja boy" or anybody "featuring" somebody. i got SOME sence (spelling?).
i cant get enough of guns n roses( REAL guns, not chinese democracy) motley crue, queen, pearl jam, anything rock.
Some of today's actual 3 piece bands (if you dont know what a 3 piece band is, its a band with the usual bass, guitar and drums and vocals dont count since its not an instrument) have good vocals but when you listen to the guitar it usually sucks. Its just strumming chords. Some bands have some good bass and the drums nowdays are weak. Old bands with good chemistry like GnR, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles etc. worked as 1, not just 4 (or 5) guys playing instruments.
I'm 13 years old and if rap were a person I'd hang him on a light post. AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Pink Floyd. Thats real music. Not the Jonas Brothers, that ugly Cyrus chick, Flo Rida? T-pain? WHAT THE FUCK?
I think we live in the same region, I live in Atoka, I'm probably going to SOSU. I agree, and I'm 16. Today's music sucks ass. Nice 90's picks. Not all of today's music sucks, but 100% of that shit crapple and pop music on Fuse or Mtv (if they even play music any more) gargles giant lint covered sweaty hairy dragon balls.
You're pretty far east from here. I live in Lawton.
And yeah. I've been listening to a lot of NiN, Rage against the machine and Soundgarden as well as older stuff like Willie Nelson, Hank Williams Jr., and (believe it or not) Herb Albert.
The thing I just started doing is jumping national lines. I just found a band in Iceland called Sigur Rós (I think it translates to 'Victory Rose') that has an interesting sound.
Todays goodies: Muse, Coheed And Cambria, Avenged Sevenfold (if that's your style), Radiohead's still alive, NIN is on a wonderful tour with the great Janes Addiction, and Foo Fighters are pretty good in my opinion. The older stuff I love is Bob Dylan, Queen, The Cure, Hendrix, Iron Maiden, NOFX, and Guns N Roses. I'm a sucker for good guitarists. There is hardly any rap I like since the genre is dead and the media is dragging it's bloody insect infested corpse around the easy money bandwagon.
If you are into guitar you are missing out on some good music that isn't all that old. Avoid the radio. Check out some various progressive genre bands, Opeth, Dream theater, Rush, Tool. There's a power metal band called Nevermore that has one of the best metal guitarists around today, Jeff Loomis. Listen to the final product solo.
Opeth is amazing. I can understand not liking the growls though. They have alot of acoustic stuff, its not all RAWRRRRRR. If I remember right Damnation is an acoustic album that has some really good tracks on it.
the last super frontman axel rose the unpredictable maniac what a frontman should be he was real he hasn't changed he is a jackass but that is what makes him great he killed fake premade music he is amazing and what music is lacking rough and dirty regular guys who made it with talent but it is also bc of cd sales the record industry wont take chances so this is what you get today its all these guys are so good and nice yeah right total bs their music sucks after about 2003 the music has stopped
no i disagree i liked the late 90s music and the some rap at that time was good too music has fallen apart bc of american idol douches kids are suckered into thinking this is good mtv plays no music except trl
people like the music of there generation. thats usually how it goes.

Johnnyo743 1 year ago
@Johnnyo743 This was a three minute long observation made three years ago. If I haven't used my time since then to find brilliant music - just bitching about shitty music - that would make me a very miserable person. Luckily, I bought a turntable, and went out to garage sales and thrift shops and found some awesome stuff. Plus live a life.
Now for you, If you're so tired of hearing people bitch about the lack of originality and substance in today's music, why do you seek out videos like this?
jasonmit 1 year ago 6
@Kanadianas

Sshelly34213 2 years ago 2
Yeah, I started noticing the decline somewhere around 96 to 97.
jasonmit 2 years ago
Yea that's where I noticed it, although alternative post grunge rock was still all right. I love Counting Crows.
Sshelly34213 2 years ago
I just think music really stopped somewhere around or after 9/11. I'm not sure if it's like a creativity rut, or if something bizarre is going on here. I don't think this decade has a cultural identity. My entire high school experience was spent trying to find some type of an identity.
Sshelly34213 2 years ago
Most of those post grunge bands I can't stand. I won't dismiss the entire genre but there weren't too many bands that suited my taste. Jay-Z released a kick-ass album the same day the terrorist attacks happened (out of coincidence) but that was his last great album and one of the last great mainstream albums. His work since the Blueprint 1 has been mediocre at best.
AntiMTVMovement 1 year ago

Give me some examples of artists today that are "a million times better" than stuff from the 90's.
jasonmit 2 years ago
So because youre dad is a musician, I'm wrong.....? Doesn't matter whether your dad, uncle, or second cousin is involved in music; it can't prove one's opinion wrong. I will say that some of the music today (such as hip-hop and rap) is complete trash. But we now have alternative rock and more of a modern sounding rock, more rock incorporated into country, and pop has become techno (which should be changed). Examples: Paula Abdul < Beyonce. NSYNC < Muse. Sales are better, even in a bad economy.
perlonu777 2 years ago
I'm guessing you're still in high school or younger. Its not an issue of opinion, it comes down to the mechanics. What the hell do you think liberal arts professors in universities are teaching? So yes, you were wrong. I don't give a damn what your opinion is, we all have different opinions, but the talent in music today is completely gone. Before the 70's, believe it or not, but it actually was required for a musician to know how to play an instrument.
jasonmit 2 years ago
First off, I'm a college graduate. So there's strike one against you. Second, where the hell do you get off saying someone's opinions is wrong because you don't agree with it, jackass? I don't give a crap about the liberal arts being taught. I listen to artists that DO know how to play instruments. I don't like some of the music today, but there's a lot that is good. I don't give a damn about your opinion either because what you dislike is what I enjoy. No ifs, ands, or buts, about it.
perlonu777 2 years ago
I'm blocking you so I don't have to deal with your petty bullcrap anymore. I like music that you don't like. You don't like today's music because it's not some of the oldies crap that you enjoyed when you were young. You're pissy because stuff you liked is a thing in the past and isn't getting as much radio play or promotion as others. Sorry, but it's a new generation. Some music is good, other is crap. I know. But you're upset because your childhood music is vanished. Have a lovely New Years.
perlonu777 2 years ago
First off, I didn't say your opinion was wrong. By definition, there is no such thing as a wrong opinion. I was just saying there are variables that isn't subject to opinion.
Second, how am I pissy for holding a discussion? I'm not the one who just left a two long paragraph response and banned me from your channel for no good reason.

Pet Shop Boys > Beatles

Radiohead > Floyd
betweentwoislands 2 years ago
thats a good analogy but is radiohead really a prog band? im not goin against it im just curious, cuz in my book i dont think nothing can compare to pink floyd
patentstillpending 2 years ago
I try not to get specific with genres. To me, pop and rock is the same, they use different instruments but the songs are structured in the same way. But Radiohead and Floyd, with a few others, don't fit that mold and can be called experimental or progressive. That's why I compared the two: they're unlike their contempories and cause lots of sub-par copycats. I also think Tool is better than Floyd, in regards to experimentation. So my criteria is pretty broad.
betweentwoislands 2 years ago
They are different genres, both of course use the studio, but pop music now relies SOLELY on the studio. (Like ,insert random talentless pop artist here,) Some of the current rock bands actually can sing, but some (like Dragonforce) can't sound good without the studio.

I was raised very much the same way. My dad use to be a musician then a music teacher and my mom worked for the Oklahoma Music Educators Association. The best era for music has to be from the 40's; big band/swing and southern blues. Hell, even if a person doesn't care for that kind of music, they should have an appreciation for it considering everything made since then was influenced (directly or in proxy) by that music.

lol it's not that the subjects changed that much. -_-

Check out The Protomen. They are a newer band and their stuff is awesome.
There is still good music out there, you will just have to make the effort to find it. Just turn off your radio and go to some local concerts.

I wish that we lived in the 70s and 80s.
Thank you for listening

T-pain is awesome
He sucks so much that he had to make a song about a muthafucking boat and it turned out awesome

I igree with you within a certain level, but it is mainly the us music that sucks.
I recommend you to check some other charts the british or the dutch, they are
still not as good as before, but way better
than the us charts.

Listen to the final product solo.
oregonskateok 2 years ago
Rush is good, so is Tool.
Opeth........ no. Cookie monster vocals.
Nevermore is ok from what I've heard.
lolipopcon 2 years ago
Opeth is amazing. I can understand not liking the growls though. They have alot of acoustic stuff, its not all RAWRRRRRR. If I remember right Damnation is an acoustic album that has some really good tracks on it.
oregonskateok 2 years ago
Today's music does suck, but there's also a lot of good music that isn't popular. My solution= listen to dream theater, haha

the last super frontman axel rose the unpredictable maniac what a frontman should be he was real he hasn't changed he is a jackass but that is what makes him great he killed fake premade music he is amazing and what music is lacking rough and dirty regular guys who made it with talent but it is also bc of cd sales the record industry wont take chances so this is what you get today its all these guys are so good and nice yeah right total bs their music sucks after about 2003 the music has stopped

jasonmit 2 years ago
