Mr Grayson, as an adult learner of music, and player of a monophonic instrument, I can only lament that I will never have such perfect intimacy with the musical language as you display in all these vids. You are an inspiration. You are right there with Jacques Loussier in my list of must-listen-to pianists. I don't know if 'll ever get to tackle improvisation to the level where I could draw from your vids but just listening is a joy. BRAVO!
I'm speechless this is a beautiful take an caprice and i love it. I thank you for sharing. It's nice to hear improve and different variations on the classical music that i love! So again I will say arigatou gozaimasu!!
Your performances are truly eye opening - what you are capable of has made me question how I define art. You've somehow been able to crack each composer's formula - either through conscious deconstruction, or the unconscious result of a lifetime of musical experience.. I'm sure its a combination. Is all art just an algorithm - one which is unknown to the listener!?! Or perhaps unknown on the conscious level of the creator too!?
People like him don't just fall out of the sky every week or something. That's true talent waiting to be seen by the whole world. And when it does get recognised internationally, man will you be the most sought-after teacher and performer.
@cgurl1012 Thank you for your nice comments about the improvisations. I'm prompted to write in part because I just came back from a few days teaching improvisation workshops in Guangzhou, China. The students and professors were very talented, friendly and appreciate. The food in Guangzhou was excellent. Where are you from in China? I was not able to access YouTube while I was there since it is blocked, however I understand that it is possible. RG
@improvelectronic Oh no, I'm not from China! I just live here; I'm a Singaporean. Haha yeah, all the expats are using proxies now to access youtube and facebook. Oh, if you're in need of a song to improvise on, how about Chopin's Fantasie Impromptu Op.66? Although that's quite a hard song to play by itself.
Niccolo paganini is a violinist virtuosi and Caprice No. 24 in A minor is the final caprice of Niccolo Paganini's 24 Caprices, and a famous work for solo violin....
caprice no.24 is my favorite af all his caprices....
That music is so amazing for an improvisation, especially in Debussy's style! I also tried composing Variations on a theme of Paganini, but it took a lot of editing to get it polished enough, not just right away! I'd really enjoy reading any comments you have for my composition! Thank you in advance, and once again, your improv is absolutely brilliant!
@cromulentinnoc3nce Yeah this guy is easily one of the most musically talented people on the planet and it's sad that all he really has is this relatively small youtube fanbase and some scholarly recognition around different schools/institutions. He should be way more famous. He should be a household name!

Improvising is hard enough, but to improvise on one composer in the form of another? Genius.
