  • man i wish someone would try and play some other style of guitar, noone plays anything but shred and its boring as hell!

  • this guys control is awesome! he freaking owns that guitar!! o and btw people that say the "passion and feeling doesnt matter" wright a song and and when it sounds empty and repetitive with a crappy solo that uses the same section of the neck and the same notes through the whole thing.... well listen to vivaldi and see how much better it sounds

  • final comment for today..i know....i talk too much,,, i just wanna say something to mr. quitenot...about that thing he talks about the two slipknot guitarist.... does being a guitar teacher make a guitarist one of the greatest?...fuck! I admit that Jim root is quite amazing but that mick thompson??... what the hell...he doesn't make music..he's just making noise....

  • ..i always hate it when i see people that speaks about something they don't understand or they do not have knowledge about...it's the same as...if you can't see the truth..then no one else can ever show you....

  • damn! those who got bored watching shredding or hate watching solos should just hang themselves with a guitar string.... and those who are saying that shredding doesn't have a feeling, it feels good! hahah!..and you can never appreciate something that you don't understand so just shut the fuck up if you don't know what shredding is all about... those who cannot feel the emotions in shredding really had a big big problem.,you are the one that's numb, don't blame the song..

  • Mmm mmm mmm, beautiful phrasing.

  • boring

  • you should uplaod a blues guitar solo. Metal is pretty good, and im not saying this is bad, its just, i think Blues are cooler. Give it a try. :D

  • i agree with painkiller learn how to put them together know your notes!!!!

  • Shred guitar is defenitely THE hangover cure :-)

  • @jacksonguitar1111 God I hate solos. Guitarists just like to show off they should be limited to 20 sec solo's and that's max. Any more and it just sounds so wanky !

I only like Machine Head's and Slipknots solos ! They are there and gone the way they whould be it should be about melody and about the overall bands sound than just one player hogging the lime light.

  • @QuiteNot The light hurts my eyes and the lime was in all my drinks so there really isnt much more to steal. And theres no band. If you hate solos why are you watching a 4 minute video called insane guitar?

  • @mpigott I also don't get his comment. Shred guitar is one of the nicest freetime activities :-) especially when you completely freak out :

  • @QuiteNot hahaha slipknot's solos ? way to pick the band with the worst guitar players.

  • @mooch666 Worst guitar players ..... ?

That's a bit much, one is a guitar teacher. And simple is often best in music, too complicated doesn't sound that good, especially live....Dragon Force..... butt it depends on the song too.

  • @QuiteNot But each to their own......some people like ABBA ! Others think pop music best...............some even like Classical.....ppfftt !

It's what ever speaks to you, I believe, that what ever you liked as a teenager is the kind of music you relate too most strongly.

  • @QuiteNot Yeah it's all about note selection, not just about being fast.

  • @mooch666 True, but I guess if you a guitar player you can hear things and appreciate the playing more than me. Like a soloist bass player I can listen to, but only if it has a real groove or feeling to it. Too many notes for too long just bores me.

  • @QuiteNot

if you hate solos, listen to pop or justin bieber or what ever. there is literally nothi8ng without solos. btw: solos are great, if they sound good, unlike this non-melodic shredding.

  • @QuiteNot Dude, why does everybody come along with "melody" and "feeling" when it comes to guitarplaying? Of course, thats important, but only in a songs cadenza....along with technical ability, which is always a big deal to outstanders, but do you think e.g. Paganini would have ever been able to compose great things if he was a bad violinist? Technical ability is important, as important as the rest, and why not show what youre able to do? Dont like it? Dont watch it.

  • @JoelGuitarMetal yeh i like what i like and hate what i hate....like everyone else...

  • @QuiteNot Your argument is automatically disqualified since you listen to Slipknot.

  • Hey Matt, this may sound stupid, but for long practice sessions (8hrs+) how do you sit so your back doesn't get all fucked up? I get so goddamn stiff and sore after just a few hrs. Do you have a special chair?

  • @Painkiller86 Thats the reason i dont play those kind of hours anymore. The truth is, most people dont practice well. If you really commit yourself to a solid hour or two with the metronome, you will see solid improvements. Its just like if you work out.

  • @mpigott definitely, and also doing it for an hour of two straight also makes a big difference. I think I discovered something by watching your picking which is that picking "from the wrist" really means picking with the thumb and forefinger. Not bending the joints of the digits but imagining pulling up with the thumb. Another guy besides you that I watch who does it is Takayoshi Ohmura. You might enjoy his playing. I think I'm getting the hang of it and it's the only way my wrist stays steady.

  • @Painkiller86 You cant workout 8 hours a day every day or youll over train and never build, your body is too tired. Likewise, if you play guitar for too long you will undoubtedly lose focus and distract from the practice you should be doing. Playing fast is all about muscle memory and repetition, so unless youre playing the same exact drills for 8 hours you should take a break in there.

  • @mpigott you are absolutely right. I do find it very difficult to focus for that amount of time. I do take some breaks but it's brutal. There is surely a point of diminishing returns. I try to stick with about 3 different picking drills (one for upstrokes, which basically determine how fast you can pick, one for outside picking and one for inside picking). Then I do some legato drills where I try to focus on my pinky and ring finger combos, by far my weakest pair e.g. the 4-3-1 pull off

  • mr pigott brings out the shits again... we are not worthy :p

  • @yas666eer im still trying to solidify the brown sound... still a little runny..

  • Best legato on this damned website. I'm not so much impressed by fast playing in general, I'm a sucker for buttery vibrato, and you my friend have a gift

  • cool stuff... i like the bends. check out my new stuff! thanks. keep shredding!

  • How much more EVH can you get?!!

  • @Altered6Chicken alot i hope. im nowhere near the van yet. one day maybe!

  • dude did you move all the gear again!? fuck every time i'm over it's a different corner

  • ha I usually pan out in front of the TV for the day when I'm hungover, awesome playing dude

  • Shit son! How long have you been playing for?

  • @Laucha19 6 years or so

  • Nice one as usual. I just noticed you have really jacked forearms, must be all that speed picking. Are you wearing a Colbert "wriststrong" bracelet?

  • @Painkiller86 Got really drunk the night before and woke up with it. oh well haha
