@ef9stillking you can buy it by the quart or gallon. its in the paint section at home depot and lowes. i usually thin mine down with some acetone... lays down a little nicer. i mix it @1 gallon paint to 1 quart acetone... 4 to 1 basically.

not the right technique. Set your PSI lower, and walk the length of the car, this reduces (and eliminates if done properly) any chance of "seams" in the paint. You're feathering is decent, but will cause runs in the middle of the car.

@GarrettThaBarber go to car quest, oreil'y auto parts,autozone anywhere for cars and buy a decent paint gun and some paint,primer,clearcoat, sand paper, masking tape and paper or just use newspaper. and if you have a aircompresser thats all you need, look up how to videos for painting techiniques, and if your painting outside try to do it on a nice day with no wind its gonna get dust in it your clear outside period, if you have a garage hang tarps or plastic to cover stuff,then make an air vent.

@YoungStatic i use a 1.4 tip, and honestly, thinning the paint out with only 30% thinner still leaves it thick to where the paint doesnt want to come out and combine that with any pressure set over 40 and the paint shoots out dry, so i thin the paint more so its almost like milk when i shoot it, now i m pretty sure i can lay down some decent coats like this, however, if i tried getting it in one shot like you do, it would run up the ass. please tell me you use a bigger tip than 1.4

@cmbclassics i dont sand in between coats or after. (thats a choice) most of the cars i shoot comes out very clean where it doesnt need a sand/buff. to shoot it through a gun, you just thin it to get the correct amount/spray pattern out the tip. i lay usually 2 coats to fully cover the surface.

I think the best reference would be a textured wall in a house, the gun you use shoots out lots of random sized blobs, from small to big to give it that bumpy textured look.

@chillincruisin you could try adjusting the air pressure, and the spraying distance is important, from what i have heard to avoid this you should be in an enviroment of 40 degrees celcious steady tempreture for the color to dry smoothly without those specks, next thing you could do would be to sand with a think sandpaper before the last coat

they both can come at as great with either technique, roll on has a longer process and alot of sanding. SOMETIMES shooting with the gun comes out great at the 1st shot. i did a car that had NO orange peels. i prefer gun as the precess of paint and completing is like 1 hour laying 3 coats down.

i did the same thing to my festiva spent 30bucks on 3 cans of rustoleum paint and another 15bucks on laquer thinner. I think the laquer thinner works better then mineral spirits. The paint dries shinier with laquer thinner.
