  • So do you use them as feeders or are they just pets?

  • @westsidetarantulas Pets. Of the reptiles I keep, these guys have too hard of an exoskeleton and it'd be too risky to use them as feeders.

  • The one you picked up at the beggining is freakin awesome lol

  • @PenanggalanMonster alright thanks ^o^

  • @PenanggalanMonster Wait so I need a 20 gallon tank for 1 hisser? O.o

  • @Xxcory11xx Oh sorry, forgot about that part. Most people keep a lot more. No, for one you'd just need a 5 or 10 gallon

  • @PenanggalanMonster how big of a tank would I need for 1? Would a little plastic critter cage with a piece of wood be okay?

  • @Xxcory11xx A good starting kit would be about a 20-gallon tank or plastic container with holes poked in the top. Make sure whatever lid you use doesn't have crevasses small enough for young roaches to sneak through. Some substrate, such as coconut bedding, sticks and things to hide under, a spray bottle (to mist fresh water every couple days for humidity), and a shallow tray for water. They eat anything from old veggies, fruits and bread to dog or cat food for protein.

  • @Xxcory11xx Yes providing you attend to it's needs as far as heat and humidity go......

  • @PenanggalanMonster How often do you clean their tanks out?

  • @Xxcory11xx It's actually best if they're not cleaned too well or too often - maybe once every few months or so? As long as there's no mold growing, there won't be much smell

  • I wanna get one.. Do they bite?

  • @Xxcory11xx Not really, they kind of "nibble" but they don't have the kind of mouthparts to actually draw blood or hurt. it just tickles :)

  • I love your nails :D and I hate bugs, but this made me a bit more at ease. You're a brave person I must say.

  • I'm surprised--they're actually kind of cute. :)

  • They don't smell bad?

  • @AcidSnake87 Not one bit, they're very clean creatures. They only smell bad when one dies hidden under a stick or something and you can't find it for a couple hours lol.

  • My science teacher has about 10 tanks of these. They always hiss at me.. i guess they dont like me. xP

  • holly shit do those thing have jaws or are they harmless like german roaches

  • @MrPainkiller4rent pretty harmless, I've never been chewed on by them to where it hurt or anything. :3

  • Great video. I am strongly considering getting one, with proper accommodations, etc. It will also be a slight challenge, as I naturally freak out at their sight. What I like about these guys is that they are not quick to run away and panic, very dignified, unlike the roaches I usually meet.

  • I love my roach, they are amazing creatures. Mine never hisses though...

  • I freak when I see roaches, but your roaches are the biggest I've ever seen. They are pretty cool though. Funny how ever the smallest of species can develop personalities and we can yell them apart because of this.

  • That yellow one is simply beautiful! I would love to see one of my babies come out that color! =D

  • They look like little tanks, these roaches are interesting, their cousins the American roach however are disgusting.

  • They aren't as gross looking as I thought. And for that I say great video. They have kind of a cool look.

  • it sounds like someone is taking an epic piss in the background

  • @ToastyTarget00 That would be a fish tank.

  • that is so fricken cool!! i wouldnt be able to touch it tho

  • LOL! They look so violated when you pick them up XD

  • Swag

  • they're adorable >w<

I love how they all have unique coloring too! :D

  • I just sprayed two roaches in my house and was so disgusted that I started to wonder why roaches are the pests that they are. I started on Wikipedia, which mentioned the hissing cockroach. Needless to say I understand now that apart from the pest species that would anybody, roaches are just another insect.

Your male hissing roaches are actually kind of cute thinking that ramming your finger will scare you away! Do they ever bite?

  • i just got 3 hissers and i have them in a HUGE cage. 2 are males and the other one is a female and i named one male Boi, another male Gai, and the females name is Lady. ps. love your vid and check out my vid " my firt vid on youtube" (i know i wrote "firt" instead of first i accidentally wrote firt while i was thinking up a title for the vid. Sorry!!!!!!

  • Finally! I've watched about 10 "hissing cockroaches"-videos by now, but not a single one of them actually had any hissing in them. Now I know what it sounds like, thank you for that.

  • WOW THAT'S ADORABLE. haha I love how they're getting all pissy when you pet them in the cage, adorable how that one little guy started pushing you haha, but then you pick them up and they're like MAMA!! :)

  • You know it's weird, I love beetles and where I live here in the UK I've never seen a cockroach. So when I look at these I don't associate them as disgusting creatures like other people do. I just see another cute beetle :)

  • I like the first one. He's like, "Hey, yo, put me dow- OOOOHHH, shiny fingernail." :D

  • How often do your roaches eat? I've had mine a couple of days and they just sit in the corner near the heating pad. Haven't seen them eat yet.

  • I keep taratulas and snakes but bought two very young madagascan hissing cockroaches for my young son. What is their favourite food to make sure they keep thriving. Thanks in advance for your help :o)

  • @waddac2 They like a variety of things from cat food to oranges. Fruit, vegetables, bread, you name it. I've heard that citrus can affect many roaches' coloration and likelihood of mating, and protein is good to help avoid cannibalism, though I've never dealt with this from hissers personally.

  • Thank you so much for that and have jotted your info down to keep to hand. I only got my son two to start with and they are very small (About 5 to 8ml in length so about size of a finger nail) They seem to spend most of their time burried most of the time and Im a bit worried about them drowning when I spray daily... I suppose they will surface if they get too wet wont they as heard they are very hardy insects indeed? Thanks again for your help :o))

  • aww igor loves you. he is hugging you.

  • Absolutely adorable :) I watch cartoons with my Hisser sometimes too :p The one at 1:45 has beautiful colouring :D Also, It's refreshing to see a roach setup that's not just a tub with egg crate. Your roaches probably have a much better life in a setup like that :) It looks much more natural.

  • @JinxxyFur Thank you! :) This is exactly why I try to keep my roaches to a minimum in each colony, so I get the fulfillment of a big group without having to stuff them in a plastic tote. I like being able to observe them and see them crawl around in a natural environment :)

  • Aww so cute! I want one! ><

  • Awwww they're so cute :3

  • awww they're really cute! Not enough people appreciate insects... : /

  • 0:42 - 1:10

    They talking shit

  • I want to get some (1 or 2 ) but I don't want them to breed because I can't keep 100 of them... What should I do?

  • They sound like those little wind-up toys... Interesting video. This made me dislike roaches a little less.

  • From the underside they almost look like if a puppy and a kitten had a cuteness freak-baby 8D

  • awwwwwwwww im a guy and i think these are the cutest thing since jessica alba.i seriously would rape one of these lil guys

  • cool!

  • Are Those Cockroaches Poisonous? And you got some Good Color Of your fingernails.

  • @Giann57Angelito No, I don't know of any cockroaches that are poisonous or dangerous in any way (aside from the kind that crawl through diseased garbage). Thanks!

  • hey you disgusting slut you accidentally friended me instead of blockd so were friends now right? fuckin disgusting

  • @tingly7654321 Go Hit the pipes, You mothersucker.

  • Comment removed

  • Do they bite? Also your hands look nice hahahahaha

  • @limput2 Nope, and aw thanks XD

  • im surprised! they CAN be cute lol

  • people have these as pets?

  • @SheWumbo Loads of people, I don't see why it's so shocking... many people adore insects, and these are one of the best pets you can have. Low-maintenance, fascinating and intricate social behavior, no odor, no disease, no taking them to the vet... and they're beautiful to a lot of people as well.

  • @SheWumbo yes I even touched one they are not slimey at all. they feel very smoth and cool to the touch.

  • Theyre alot more well behave than those crunchy fuckers on the street...

  • Wow they are very good. Do you breed them?

  • this woman must be Miss Frizzle!

  • These guys are really cute! I'm guessing that they're adults how big are they when they're babys?

I usta live in an apartment that had cockroaches so i get really freaked by the little ones but I like these ones!

  • Boggle? i only know one woman who'd wear orange nailpolish and have roaches for pets! :)

  • @Gardinia427 Haha, Boogle you mean? Yes, that'd be me. XD

  • Would you hold an American Cockroach like you do the Madagascar?

  • @mixedboii1989 If they weren't so small and flighty, definitely! I have another video of them on a stick in my hand.

  • this might seem like a dumb question but why do they hiss? does it do it to defend itself or just to show that its pissed off?

  • @Atoker94 They hiss for various reasons... when two males fight, they often hiss perhaps to intimidate the other. The "winner" tends to hiss the most. They also hiss to surprise, confuse and ward off predators, to communicate, and for mating. Their hiss is varied and useful in many aspects of their lives :)

  • Oh my, having the same name as one of the roaches, I don't even know how to think about it >.>

  • I dont know why but i find cochroaches so unpleasant, but these seem so adorable in an odd way! The last one you held, igor, seemed like a very fun one to have :) strangely enough i want one! And when my sister walked up stairs seeing me watch this frowned in a gross way i told her they seem so harmless, she was like THEY ARE GRUBS! NASTY HIDEOUS CREATURES, i was like, Miana you need to learn about them more, in fact i kinda like them x3

  • I can't believe I used to be afraid of roaches. They're so cool!

  • you freakin weird lady lol.

  • youre a very brave girl. thumbs up to your video

  • awww :D when you turn them on thier back they're kinda cute :)

  • COOL they sound like snakes!

  • @Truessence Very easy and very cheap. :3 About the same as a goldfish, only you don't need to clean their tank nearly as often.

  • They may be friendly, but they still creep me out.

  • Ah, those are real beauties! Got 4 myself; unfortunately the choice in German pet stores isn't that huge, so still no luck getting the orange ones. Hopefully more luck at next month's fair.

  • @808Fee they get orange as they age ;D

  • Hey i'm asking a question not for me but for a person i know. How do you breed them?I mean do you just throw the male in there overnight and wait?

  • @carpetbeetle98 The males and females get along fine, so they can be kept together all the time. Unless you have a limit to how many you want; then I'd say that might work. Otherwise they do fine on their own and you don't have to do anythign special.

  • Hey i'm asking a question not for me but for a person i know. How do you breed them?I mean do you just throw the male in there overnight and wait?

  • im thinking of getting some but imm looking around the internet for diffrent prices then, i have to con my mom into letting me get them mwahahahaha :) but i find them very interesting

  • You're pretty brave. I hate roaches...Kudos to you...

  • i started with 10. 2 months later, i'm up two clutches! cant wait till the babies get bigger :)

  • So cute and calm! I wouldn't mind having a few of these little guys myself but I'm far too crowded with my pet crabby and fish :3! BUT you give me a new light towards 'different' pets! Good luck with them!

  • So cute and calm! I wouldn't mind having a few of these little guys myself but I'm far too crowded with my pet crabby and fish :3! BUT you give me a new light towards 'different' pets! Good luck with them!

  • hahha thats pretty sick to get those i would have hebbiegebbies are they like regaular nasty ones?

  • Ahh Roachs the scum of the earth.

These things have to be the most disguting living beings I've ever seen.

Strage things about these ones is that they have no wings.

  • I just don't like the ones that i see in apartments that have the long hairy legs. Those are cute ones

  • My hissers don't seem to hiss very much. I guess they must like me :)

They truly are cute creatures, especially with how they wiggle their antennae and their maxillae and their soft bug paws. :3

  • I like to come back to this vid every once in a while. Your roaches are so very cute and you handle them well! Nice nails btw.

  • how long does it generally take to get from newborn to adult for these guys? i have some babies recently

  • i love these guys. My science teachers have a few. Theyre legs feel rubbery! after they walk on you hand yur hand feels like you just pulled tape off

  • i got 2 death heads and 3 hissers(ones a baby) cute little buggies

  • Igor is adorable!

  • wow they look scary would run a mile if i see one

  • nice roaches and your nails are prett! :)

  • omfg u have balls 2 do that

  • Naw, all it takes is the knowledge that they are completely harmless! :)

  • I used to have some roaches. They're not harmful at ALL, I assure you, and they're actually very nice pets.

  • Thank you for bringing more respect to this much-maligned, underappreciated animal!

  • UR CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Why? They're harmless.

  • How did you get it past your parents? I really want to get one but my parents won't let me.

  • I'm 25, I live in my own house. But I did have them while I lived with my parents, and all it took was teaching them some logic about how completely harmless and out of the way they are. You might try and ask them what they have against hissers other than their appearance and bad name, and try educating them on the facts. Most people choose to be ignorant about bugs because it's just easier than educating themselves, so you might have to pound it into their heads a little :P

  • @PenanggalanMonster Thanks..And it's not only the Hissers, it's any other insect. I am pretty sure i may have to wait until i turn 18...But thanks for your input, i will try this approach. : )

  • Just curious, have you bred them before, im aware of the 60 days prior live hatching etc, what i would like to no is, are thy easliy bred to have offspring? do you have to make the right conditions, or will they just breed like crazy! thanks in advance!

  • Very easy to breed, yes :) It just took mine a very long while for some reason, but now that they've started, they just can't seem to stop! Plenty of heat and humidity helps.

  • this bitch is crazy ur actulay holding that roach dont tell me that there ur pets .

  • They're my pets.

Why can't you retarded YouTube twats ever spell? Get off the internet for a while and learn some damn manners.

  • peaced out roaches x)

  • OMG....Big B....

  • how can u tell that one was igor.. does it have like a mark or wut?

  • they don't seem very friendly.

  • They seem so tame.

  • I think he says "bieeetch wheres my money.... beeeeich.... moneyyy"

  • so cute ^__^

  • -steps on it- im sorry was that your auntie?

  • I was going to delete this, but you know what? I'm going to leave it up so everyone can see what a fucking idiot you are. Seriously. Are you a 2nd grade bully or just an overgrown retard?

  • LOL its a men in black movie quote.

  • its from men in black

  • Yeah chill out dude

  • hehe. they are kinda cute

    :3

  • aww it wants a hug

    i wish i had one =(

  • Double-U Tee Eff? Great googly moogly, you either want one of these, or don't. I--- Kinda want one.

I don't get why people tweak right out about them being nasty.. Your average roach is so nasty because of... Garbage! Madagascar cockroaches, though, have the whole little mites deal going on that keep them clean. Unless I'm mistaken of course. *Shrug*

Still, very spectacular! Them roaches are A-Ok, and cool like the other side of the pillow. :B

  • I would fucking stomp that shit out and make you eat it

  • I'm sorry, I don't speak Internet Toughguy. Though I see you are fluent in your native tongue, congrats :)

  • hope they do!

  • they have personalities?

  • what do you feed it?

  • carrots, apples, strawberries, cantalope, dog/cat food, lettuce, and almost a never ending list of other foods :)

  • So cute! :'> I got cockroaches myself, just babies yet though, and I love them :) I'm not entirely sure what the kind of spicies I have is called in english. Oo

  • for some reason the bigger the roach, the less scary. Now i just seem them as big friendly rolly polies

  • Hee Hee! They actually do hiss! :-)

  • My dad used to have tons of these guys as pets, I miss em.

  • Haha cool roaches, nice nails =P

  • if i want to hold a Cockroaches i need the following things:

    1.gloves

    2.desingfectid hand

    3.a zapper

    4.a tazer

and finaly a gun(in case it atacks me)

  • lmao @ ponkipou

Unless you're a giant walking vegetable, I dont think they'll attack you. You made me giggle though.

  • Very Cool! :D

  • cool

  • gentle little critters :3

  • Do they smell bad like house roaches?

  • Nope. They're sterile and very easy to take care of.

  • Thankyou for sharing this video, a friend of mine is convincing me they are good pets.

in the future who knows, i probably will get some ^^

  • Wow watching all these videos I'm not afraid of roaches anymore they are pretty sweet looking. I think that these are beautiful the way they sound I love it. they are gorgeous.

  • I don't like house roaches either. I'd rather kiss a Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches than a house roach...

Anyways, what amazed me the most in this video is that the roaches really love you :o It's as if they were hugging you or something, you must really treat them with love! Nice video :D

  • Haha I work with roaches, they tend to grab onto anything when they're on their back. They don't often like to be on their back open and vulnerable I guess. Nice to see someone showing some love for these guys!! They're surprisingly lovely!

  • Le verni des ongles suis avec les blattes

  • insects are very smart , you can tell that have grown used to you and no longer fear you .

I don't like roaches but to each it's own lol

    Insects are amazing creatures.

  • I subscribed by the way.

  • Not trying to be disrespectful or anything BUT FUCK thats NASTY! hahaha i fucking hate bugs n shit even dogs and all that. haha cant stand them But i guess people have their ways. Great vid by the way i never knew they hiss haha and yeah they do look better than house ones UGGH! fucking nasty house ones nasty nasty nasty nasty and im a fucking male. wow bugs get to me haha

  • LOL they certainly do get to you!!

Chances are they probably think we're equally ugly and nasty.

  • hahaha yeah that might be true..But daaamn bugs! i feel all wierd now feels like i have a million bugs all over me!!!!

  • LOL I hear ya, it took me about 3 months to get over the fear so I can relate surely. Funny story actually, one day I had way too many coffees and I took one out to show a crowd at the Museum to help them get over their fears. It was annoyed and hissed and arched his back.Suddenly startled, I followed my instinct and threw it.....into the crowd. It was as if a grenade went off.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA wow that shit sounds like everyone went crazy but really though i would of done the same thing cause when shit like that happens i dont think i just do it!!! hahaha Great story by the way...

  • Hahha thanks. It's going in the books. It's funny when I introduce them to people. Children get over their fears very fast if there are any at all...while parents have YEARS and YEARS of fear built up. It's always interesting to watch.

The little roachy that I threw only ran about a foot then stopped. I think he realized our building was a lot like Shawshank to him and I scooped him up again.

  • I love the clarity of this video most roach vids are grainy nice to see a good one, I am getting some of the Elliptorhina chopardi mini madagascar hissers

  • They are awesome! I have 5 different species of roaches as pets, and Madagascar hissing ones are my fave. I have 2 males, 2 females and 9 "babies". :}
