  • too much talk... would help if you have a couple of diagrams to illustrate the function and connectivities.

  • hahah like the way he stutters at downloaded movies, yeah the ones i bought online and purchased for free at umm you know that website you buy movies from

...hello is this 911 im sorry you got the wrong number this is 912

  • linus cant u actually put a wireless usb card to un on the wdtv?

and on the dlink cant u have a nas without a pc?

  • I just bought the WDTV Live version which does have network streaming and internet access, Simple, Works great, Plays everything, Has a couple of quirks. Hidden features on handset, And must have approved wifi dongle if wireless is required, Otherwise, Flawless, Love it !

  • you forgot that the popcorn hour can also has a bittorrent client built in.

  • I'm owner of popcorn, it's a great product.

  • No mention of whether the D-Link supports h264 which we know the WD and Popcorn are fully capable of. If the D-Link does not support MP4 playback, it's junk IMO, as is DivX.

  • anyones KNOWS ABOUT THE BEST PICTURE OF ALL THE MEDIA PLAYERS. NAME?

  • why do they act like getting up and walking across the room is a near impossible task?... lol... WOW

  • WD TV LIVE - 3rd Generation has an enternet connection,USB wireless, which you can access Youtube,Flicker,Pandora live, ALL Mediafile works, reall winner it is the CADILAC with a PRICE of $130

  • Hmm so the WD is the cheapest and easiest to use yet it isnt the best??

When you want to put new files onto the popcorn how do you do it?.

The same way you do the wd perhaps??

Biased review sorry, I have watched a few of your reviews and its pretty obvious that your spiel comes straight from the manunfacturers marketing team no matter how you try to disguise it

  • Shit review. You didnt mention anything about file support.

  • It might have been irrelevant. For example they might have all supported all of the main formats that the average user would use, which would make sense, since they're in the review in the first place.

  • gr8 review!! thanks

  • I must add that WDTV is bringing out WDTV2 soon which has Ethernet (LAN) capability, plus you can actually use a USB LAN Adapter to enable this feature in the WDTV, but you need to install custom firmware.

  • I have the WD HD TV and to be honest it works absolutely perfectly and you can save yourself a little extra cash ordering it on amazon (also got free shipping)

I use the ps3 for streaming so I didnt need another wireless streaming device but having an external hdd to read mkv's was a simple solution for the price (under $80)

One downfall is that the wd hd tv does not decode audio so you must switch between stereo and digital

  • It appears that PopCorn Hour have stopped doing the B version as it is no longer aviable for order from their site.

  • yep. We filmed this a long time ago. The C version is quite similar except that you will be able to put a blu-ray drive instead of a hard drive inside. You can also still put a hard drive in.

Not sure what other changes they've made.

  • Wouldn't it be WAY less complicated, and cheaper to simply run a DVI cable (with HDMI converter) directly from your video card to your HD TV?

  • agreed lol

  • Go ahead and do that for a while. It can get pretty tiresome, especially if you have a female in the hosue (wife, girlfriend, mother, etc) nagging you about your "wires"

Like so many other things in life you're paying more for the more elegant, wife-approved solution.

  • lol. my TV is in the computer room...the women of my household barely step foot in here...no nagging for me...so i still don't see a point in use like $50 or more for a solution i can fix on my own perfectly for about $5...i already have an HDMI sitting and collecting dust in my living room lol

  • why would I use this when I can stream with my playstation 3??

  • because (depending which of these solutions you're looking at) the PS3 will require your media to be transcoded (quality loss) versus being able to stream straight .MKV files.

Both WD TV and Popcorn hour can play a proper high def file without messing around with the format.

The DSM-330 has its own benefits including out of the box wireless, and the fact that it's much cheaper than a PS3 if you don't want to game.

  • Perfect, that's what I needed to know, thanks.

  • you do know as long as you convert video in to H.264 MP4 then with hardly to no loss at all just use handbrake and all your content will look 100% on PS3

  • Beautiful vid mann, just what I've been looking for, thumbs up linus' . I mean, just thumbs up.

  • Thanks for the great and informative review!

  • Awesome video, just what I've been after. Nice to see an update too :D

  • great video,i like the popcorn hour the best

  • olol whut ?!

  • you explained everything without sounding even the slightest bit complicated, and this is coming from someone who's main language is not english.

well done, awesome vid and will defo consider one of these when the time comes i'm going to need to buy something like this

  • Wow, a really great vid, so simple and clear : D

  • gotta hand it to you, this is a pretty good vid

  • great video as always

  • yay cameraman :)

  • yay the cameraman

  • Good video, Linus. Thanks.

  • I missed you Linus :(

  • me to lol

  • can u review Xtreamer (Media Player & Streamer) ?

  • Nice, usb connections though... sooo slow lol.

  • Cameraman is back! :D

  • The cameraman is back, but we actually shot this video 3 MONTHS ago, before we even said we let him go.

I was just messing with you guys. I intended to say he was back in the next video, but it's been too busy to stick to our release schedule, so I had to leave everyone hanging. Sorry :(

  • THE CAMERAMAN!

  • guyz u can use an ion platform if the stuff ur playing can run off the gpu

or get a 9300 zotac motherboard and a 2.33ghz quad core if the stuff ur playing arnt running on the gpu

  • I honestly dont know why people buy these things. A HDMI cable from the PC to the TV is surely the easiest and quickest way of getting hd movies on your tv...

  • 50" of HDMI cable vs. one of these?

Id say it costs about the same. If not less.

  • Yeah... And Windows Media Center vs. the interface on the DSM-330 (still in use at my house) and the Popcorn Hour (still in use at my boss' house) is priceless...

  • some thing about his voice is different

  • Who cares for the cameraman?

  • Welcome back.

Btw can u make a review on a video card like the sapphire ati radeon HD 4850/4870 Vapor-x i would like to buy one and i want to know how it compares to other card's with similar price

  • It's pretty much the same. I don't need to review it to tell you that.

It'll maybe run a bit cooler.

There are very few genuinely unique products out there for video cards. It's all just a GPU with a clock speed XXXMHz and a certain amount of RAM at a clock speed YYYYMHz.

  • Pretty normal, honestly.

  • LOL! Yay! The camera man is back! :P

  • cool! now i can watch porn on the big screen!

  • YEAH BABY! CREAMPIE IN 1080P!

  • looooool!

  • does the linksys media center extender use mkv up to 1080i or p?

  • he is very shaky

  • Finally new videos from NCIX...
