  • Glad you enjoyed - thanks for checking it out! :-)

  • Incredible how slow our eyes are that we cannot even see this amazing firework directly infront of your thumb...about 3 times a day...

  • The sparks were definitely the coolest part - and I was surprised how many there were... Thanks for watching and commenting! =)

  • it looks like fireworks

  • The small sparks which look like fireworks explosions are pieces of the flint used to ignite the gas. They sure look a lot more interesting in slow motion! Thanks for checking it out =)

  • its actually kinda beautiful :D

  • It's surprising how cool some things can be when you slow them down or speed them up a bit. This turned out to be quite a lightshow for something as simple as a basic lighter! Thanks for checking it out! :-)

  • @jcmegabyte yeah and if u slow down a butterfly it wonderfull to watch allmoast hypnotic :D

  • la verdad son videos exelentes

te felicito las imagenes son increibles

por eso me he suscrito a tu canal

  • So glad you enjoyed the show - thanks so much for watching and commenting! =)

  • I watch your videos full screen with earphones and the effect is magical! It is the ultimate in viewing pleasure!

  • It's great to hear you're using the best audio and visual methods to watch - they really do come across much better that way! =)

  • I was touched by this artistic video. Great!! Thanks a lot........Regards from Japan.

  • I was surprised how artsy fire was when slowed down... That seeems to happen a lot with nature and the elements! :-)

  • Thank uuuuuuuuuuu n I love it 5*/5* great job as always :::))))

  • Interesting stuff, this fire substance... Thanks for watching! :-)

  • Wow!!!

  • Stuff sure gets more interesting when you slow it down! Thanks so much for watching =)

  • awesome!

  • Thanks! =)

  • great efforts my fren! welldone! appreciate that! 5*****

  • Thanks for checking it out :-)

  • its pretty cool how things look and work when played really slow

  • That's for sure! I've been filming some very common, boring things and have been surprised by how much more interesting those things look in slow motion. Thanks for watching!

  • Cool!

  • A surprisingly cool lightshow for such a simple device! Thanks for visiting =)

  • This really made my imagination run wild. It was like the time I thought I saw Jesus in a tortilla.

That mind of yours is always working, we are all grateful for your ability to see the beauty in everyday things.

  • Sometimes I just film the most ordinary things, then slow them down or speed them up to see what I get. I'm often surprised by what I find. Some of my ideas are visionary but many are just the result a mad scientist's experiments! Muhahahaha! XD

  • Das Spiel mit dem Feuer, interessant.

  • Amazing and innovative. Very impressive! I like the way the flame dances to the music.

  • Always one of the most difficult parts of editing is to time the visuals with the music, but well worth the effort! Thanks so much for wathing and commenting :-)

  • Really like your videos. I love playing with fire and one of my favorites is to squeeze orange peels into a flame - how about videotaping that! It's like a little mini firework if you haven't tried it.

  • Interesting - never heard of that! I'll have to give it a go next time I have some oranges! :-)

  • this is so cool Chris--you did this the week I was gone-- I love the slo mo stuff !!

did you do this outside at night or in a room?

  • Yup, I've been putting out the vids lately! I did this in my studio - with the lights *on*! At a high shutter speed, the close flame (2" from the lens) far overpowers the ambient light in the room, so everything in the background looks black. Neat effect and no special setup required! :-)

  • Beautiful. I love fire. It's definitely my element.

  • "A work of art in every flic of the lighter" yet most of us could never see it until now... :-) Thanks for visiting!

  • !!! WOW !!! I gota get one of those,,, :]

  • Definitely worth the cost.. Thanks for visiting =)

  • That was so cool!

  • Thanks so much for stopping by! :-)

  • Aaah, you finally got the Casio :D! Last time I made a slow motion movie of "filling the sugar jar." And then watching this mini avalanche for minutes! Still enjoy this camera very much.....

  • I waited for over a year before I finally got the opportunity to get one. Still learning to use and doing a lot experimentation. Definitely a great piece of equipment :-)

  • Amazing! It's an aspect of a flame we never see, and would never normally think of trying. Who would consider that a simple flame could be a work of art?

And that puppy will do up to 1200 fps? Yikes!

  • It really is surprising how cool some stuff appears when slowed down a lot. Indeed the Casio has some great frame rates but the faster you go, the smaller the image dimensions. At 1200fps the frame size is only 336x96 pixels. Still, if the lighting is just right you can get some pretty nice shots. It does take a lot of practice and experimentation, though. :-)

  • that was too cool. At start I saw a single flower petal, gently pulled away, followed by individual callalillys that seemed to melt in air.

You have vision, keep up the great work!

  • There really is quite an unexpected art show in fire when you get to see it slowed down. Thanks for watching and commenting! =)

  • Wow! very cool looking. Never would of thought to slow down a lighter like that.

  • I was surprised how cool of a show a simple little flame put on, too. Thanks for watching! =D

  • 500*s Totally awesome video. It's amazing the things we overlook every day and love seeing someone slow things down and redefine them.

  • Whew - I'm gonna need a bigger channel for all those stars - thanks!

I agree - there are so many cool things around us every day, if one just takes the time to effort to really look at them. Having a high speed camera helps a little, too XD

Thanks so much for watching and the great comment :-)

  • Never have seen this. That was so cool!

  • Amazing how cool some of the simplest things can be if you really get to "see" them! Thank you for visiting and commenting =)

  • Impressive.... 5*, of course.

  • Nice! I was entranced watching.

  • There's just something hypnotic about fire - even more so when you slow it down a bit! Thanks for watching :-)

  • It's simply amazing what you can see in super slow motion! I was amazed at the explosion of sparks before the fire...cool stuff!

    Nice work, jcm!

    64m >:-)

  • yea - I liked the fireworks and the ignition of the gas, too. It's way cool to get to see (and make) stuff like this! =)

  • really cool

  • Thanks! :-)

  • spectrometry takes on a whole new dimension for me - thanks ! ! !

  • Thanks so much for checking it out! :-)

  • Thats pretty crazy.

  • Isn't it though? Pretty impressive what a cheapo little lighter can do when you slow it down enough to see it! :-)

  • That was so cool!! I wish I had a better camera! I would try it! :-)

  • wow i wonder what are those sparks before the fire. i've never seen it before

  • The sparks come from the abrasive wheel and flint that lights the gas - it's just a basic $0.99 butane lighter :-)

  • oh thanks, it's from a lighter. i forgot it could come from a lighter haha

  • How much did your camera cost? I'm thinking about buying one of these but I have no idea where to start.

  • The Casio EX-F1 goes for $750 to $1000 online. I think $850 is an average "good" deal unless you get lucky and find a super sale somewhere.

  • Wow!! Fascinating!

    ciao

    donni

  • Thanks so much for watching =)

  • As always excellent video! and music! 5*;)

  • Thanks so much for the view, stars and great comment! =)

  • Awesome :)

  • Thanks! :-)

  • did you use a bic? lol. i smoke. i didn't know it looked that pretty. great music and video! 5*

  • It's a generic lighter - not sure what brand... isn't it ironic that a lightshow such as this has been going on right in your face every time you spin that little wheel and who knew? :-)

  • Nice work!

  • Thanks! Still tryin' different weird stuff, and little copy-cat action now and then too, just cuz' I wanted to see it for myself =)

  • Although it's usually my goal to think up original stuff to film, chances are someone did it all ready. But there's different ways to film it and there's nothing wrong with trying to out-do the original!

  • very cool! I never saw that before, beautiful!

  • It puts on amazing lightshow for such a simple little package! Thanks for checking it out :-)

  • Hey really cool man! I enjoyed it. Did you do the end credit with a flash light? the blue one, it looked it! nice job :D

  • Ahh yes - experiments in light painting =) The red letters were made with a small laser pointer on a Sycamore tree trunk; the blue was a particularly bright LED in a digital tire gauge (of all things) drawn in the air.

15-second shutter, one letter per frame, all composited afterward.

It's surprisingly difficult to write with light - especially in the air, drawing the letters backwards, all roughly the same same size and placed properly in the word position! :-)

  • haha, thought so! I tried that one night in my apartment. i failed so miserably i never tried again. lol nicely done!

  • as usual, excellent video and always the perfect music

  • that is awesome. im going to have to try that

  • It's surprisingly easy. Be sure and use a fast shutter speed, too :-)

  • Nice

    5*

    All the best

    Kean

  • Thanks so much for watching :-)
