OMG a white George Clinton and the Funkadelics!! Man this is GOOD!! These guys have been around since the '70's...it's true musicians get better with age. Thanks for the post, peace out.
Funky thing is the old fella on the guitar & the vocalist went on to form System 7, a seriously excellent rave outfit, who in turn inspired the Orb, Orbital & dozens of top-ranking DJs. Hugely creative people.
If I remember correctly, and the remains a very large question, the album "You" was my favorite one. I put this on for my friend a few years back en route to a Hot Tuna concert and found the experience disturbing on some bizarre level. If you think about it, perhaps that was the point of it... I am still not sure.
Saw them live in 2002 at the Lemon Tree in Aberdeen & they were still bloody amazing!!!! Pretty damn good considering they were all nearly their 70's at that time!!
Pierre Moelin's Gong bored me to poison tears...Like the band Brand X...noodling without a since of humor is soporific crap...Give me Davied Allen's Gong any day...jon...screw U...
Remember this is live. The sound quality can't capture the suggestive feeling that they are building. "Master builder" is a fabulous piece in the studio version. (Not to mention the other tracks...)
oh well, exactly because its 2010, and this music was written and performed 40 years ago, is the reason why you cant really diss GONG over any of the new stuff....as nothing is as original or creative. big up daevid allen and the granny for keeping it real!!!!
Yep, it's a Hohner guitar, and the white one from the latest tour is a Hohner - 3 mini switches, I looked up close - this black one looks like it has the big block "Hohner" logo. Steve's is a real composite GL though. They really do the job.
There nothing sad about this at all. Daevid must be about 60 something in this vid now and he is still going strong and enjoying himself . Very fetching outfit he is wearing as well!!
You mean a half century of making great music? Yes, very sad to still be a rock star at the age of 71, right? Anyway, Daevid quit doing drugs in 1974, and makes quite a point about telling everyone they are not needed.
It's either a Steinberger 'GL' (the original ones-made of composite materials) or more likely, a later licensed copy called the Hohner G3T - made from wood. The one he's playing here looks like a Hohner but I have seen him playing a white one in another vid and that looks like an original Steinberger.
wow...just like i was back in my teens...tripping my brains out ..on what they used to make...i think it was called....l.s.d.......to bad they don't make it anymire..oh they do...and here it is....cuz it's not the drugs that got me high...it was..this music that made me trip out...just like now...that i am sober
i just seen these at glasto, had never heard of them b4 but they were so incredible, mesmerising, entrancing, and they looked about 100 years old, the crowd were totally in the moment!!
theyr coming to Trondheim, Norway SOON(beginning of juli? i think. på blæst)). but NOBODYS buying tickets, why?........... COMEalong to the freakshow, great music, great people, the Feeling of tha people!

I "ve seen this band in the late seventees in Vlissingen the Netherlands and this gig still lingers in my memory.
It's been one off the best live performeses I had ever seen in that town and this band had a very skilled sound crew, it stood as a house.
